0 Subject: Yahoo Fantasy Site Problem

Since last night I have been unable to log in to the Yahoo Fantasy site. I can get to the Yahoo Home page as well as the Yahoo Sports page, but the "Fantasy Sports" link will not load. I have tried all different ways to get there including direct typing and using my Favorites menu. I am able to get to all other sites on Yahoo as well as well as all other sites on the WWW. I have run Norton Antivirus as well as Spybot to no avail. I have called Comcast (my ISP) tech support without resolution of the problem. According to other boards, users in my area (Central NJ) are not having this difficulty. I have been unable to get a response from Yahoo. As a last resort I called Microsoft's pay telephone support($35 with the promise of a refund if they could not solve the problem). After 3 hours and after going through my Windows XP operating system, the tech was unable to solve the problem and is submitting it to their research department with a promise of a call back next week. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it. THANKS!!-loki

What browser are you using?

Try downloading a different browser and trying such as Netscape, or better yet Mozilla. If you can get in with anotehr browser, that would tell you the problem is isolated to IE (of whatever browser you are using). I seriously doubt the MIcrosoft tech guy is going to tell you to try anotehr browser.

RFS-Thanks for the suggestion. I tried to get in with IE, Netscape, Opera, and Mozilla without success. The situation is really puzzling and anoying, especially since I am doing reasonably well in my RIBC qualifying league. Advice from you or anyone else would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!!-loki

loki, take a look at this and see if your problem might be caused by the same thing.

Try deleting your temporary internet files. In IE, tools, internet options, delete files. Close IE and re-open it.
If that doesn't help, try deleting cookies, same place as above. Keep in mind that will erase many stored website passwords.

I doubt if it's a cache issue, since it happens in different browsers.

I assume you are able to sign on to your Yahoo account?

Assuming you're signed on, what happens if you simply go to http://fantasysports.yahoo.com/?

Or how about trying to go directly to your league page?

The URL is probably in this format:
http://baseball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/b1/NNNNN
where NNNNN is your league number.

Wahoo and Guru- Thanks for your suggestions, but I have already tried these. Tonight I was finally able to get a response from Comcast. Comcast said that is a Yahoo problem, taht Yahoo is not recognizing some Comast subscribers. The tech that I spoke to said that I could get into Yahoo using the proxy server link . Using this proxy server I was able to get into Yahoo sports, but could not link to Yahoo's fatasy site. Thanks again for everyone's help, but it looks as if I will have to wait for Yahoo and Comcast to resolve this problem. Thus far all it has cost me is Coco Crisps' 3 SBs today.-loki

PD-Thanks for the offer. My computer at work uses Verizon DSL, so I will be able to make moves from there until Comcast and Yahoo get their acts together. I will be away from Thursday through Sunday and will try set up things from work before I leave. Thanks again for your offer!!-loki

I also have Comcast as my ISP. This morning, I can get to the Yahoo sports and fantasy sports pages, but I can't get to plain old Yahoo.com, or my.yahoo.com. I suspect this may be related to loki's problem.

For that matter, I'm beginning to wonder if some of my supposed router problems (discussed in another thread) over the weekend were really Comcast network issues. There were some idiosyncrasies that give me at least some suspicion that the router might not be the culprit. I'm going to wait a few days and reconnect the router just to see if anything has miraculously resolved itself.

Meanwhile, I have an earthlink account to use as a backup dialup ISP provider, so if comcast continues to have conniptions, I should be able to work around them.

See post [9] for a diagnosis of the problem and links to some possible resolutions until the underlying problem is repaired.

The whole time this was going on I was trying to post that the same thing was happening to me. But it wasn't allowing me to put anything in here. Stupid crap!
