Is it possible to have multiple iPods on the same computer or is going to get all mixed up? And are two computers on the same wireless network also going to have the same songs? I am trying to make them seperate - my laptop with my main iPod, my desktop to work with the shuffle. I don't want them to mix.

I guess the "solution" could be to just make a playlist and put just that playlist on to the Shuffle (which I also can't figure out). But still all the songs I don't want from the shuffle are still gonna show up on my normal iPod.

I think "look for shared libraries" checkbox just fixed the two computers being blended.

My son and I both use the same computer with no problems. We both have all the same music and the same playlists, though. We like similar music so it isn't an issue for us. I don't know how to get a playlist to shuffle or if that is even an option. I do make several types of lists and if I've listened to the begining of one recently, I might start it midway through the next time. Not much help, sorry.

Shuffle is an option in one of the menus. Controls I think.

It's a royal PITA to do that from my experience so I just setup mine on my PC and my wife's on hers. A coworker solved this problem by having seperate user names in XP for each of his kids.

That depends on you. My home network config has a shared directory for ipod videos that I've ripped from DVDs and then a shared directory for songs that we both like. Then on each PC we have the standard ipod directory where we keep our exclusive content.

Seem to be doing okay with the playlists now. Anyone know anything about these mp4 videos? Is there a way to convert my already downloaded mp3's into that format?

I have a shuffle and a video Ipod and I use them both on the same computer without a problem.

If it's two different people who want different songs on their ipods, then you each should just create your own play lists.

There's an option when filling your ipod with songs to only fill from checked play lists. When you go to fill new songs simply make sure the correct play lists are checked and the unwanted ones are not checked.

Pretty simple really.

There are programs on the internet available that can convert all your video files to MP4's. I'm using a test one that works great and is free but it only converts the first 5 minutes. I just wanted to make sure it worked.

To get the full converter costs about $30.00 and then you can convert all your movies no problem.

There might be free ones out there, I haven't looked into it too much yet.

I'm not home so I don't have the link but google it and you will find lots of options.

I never could find a free one that worked good.
Ended up downloading and then paying for one when I bought my wife hers for her birthday and all of the Raymond series DVDs.
Kind of a pain, but works.

Lenogo DVD to IPOD Converter + Video to IPOD Power Pack.
Don't remember what I paid for it, but you can google it.

Not done converting everything yet, but does work okay.
Just make sure you have lots of HD space.
Have all of hers on an External HD.

Is there any way to transfer music from my Ipod to a newly installed ITunes library on a new computer? Apple Care said no, that transfers are unidirectional from library to IPod.

loki: If you still have the PC that the iPod library came from, you can do this via network. Other than that I don't think you can send songs from an iPod to a PC.

Boxman-The original PC's hard drive crashed wiping out the ITunes library. Thanks for the input anyhow.

I have my iPod running through my car stereo. There is a plug that drops out of the bottom of the dashboard, I hook it into the bottom of the iPod (that plug thats flat, about an inch wide) and can run the iPod through the stereo.

My question is twofold. Anyone with iPod in the car.. do you leave it in the car? #1 I worry because of extreme heat or cold. #2 leaving he iPod hooked up, I worry it might drain the car battery.

Great One: I have the same hookup. I bring the iPod with me most of the time because I have an iHome at work. At home I hook it up to my PC to update the podcasts. I have left it in the car before and there wasn't a problem.

i have the same hook up too. i always leave my ipod hooked up and only take it in the house when i want to update it. i have had zero problems leaving it in the heat or cold. it does not get very hot or cold where i currently live though. i believe the ipod turns off once the car or radio is turned off....never had a problem with a drained car battery.

I found that connector you were looking for
Cindy, is this the thing you were looking for?
www.liangdianup.com/computeraccessories_1.htm

It's on the list of computer accessories and parts. They have the DVI video thing to convert that jap monitor to work with your other computer. Just about any other kind of wire adaptor, usb connectors, monitor extension wires, ps2 extention wires, and all kinds of female and male swap connectors and things that I think would help your shop. If that above link don't work then goto www.lducompany.com and click on computer accessories. Let me know if that is what you need and give me your email address again.
