0 Subject: AIM Problems

I apparently downloaded a virus by accident the other night. I wrote someone and it came back with click this picture, so i did because the person it came from just happened to be on my summer baseball team who took pics that day. I then clicked it and now when ever I put up an away it changes my message to OMFG then a long link Does anyone know how I can get rid of this? Adaware did not work.

Did you try uninstalling and re-installing AIM? Also, did you ask your friend just what it was that he sent you? ;)

uninstall reinstall didnt work.

He doesnt know what it is, but he has the virus too.

What about trying Spybot-Search & Destroy? I know its for spyware, but what have you got to lose at this point?

Also, look at Avast Anti-Virus software. The price is right (free) and its worked for me thus far.

I found both those programs at pcworld.com.

wiggs: You can scan your computer for viruses and security leaks through the Symantec Security Response site. (Scroll down and click the "Check for Security Risks" graphic to get started.) The price is right: free. The scans won't repair infected files but you might just find out what's bugging your computer. Symantec has removal tools or solutions available for just about every known virus/trojan/worm.

(Requires Microsoft Internet Exploder 5.0 or higher or the latest version of AOL with ActiveX and scripting enabled.)

this is exactly what happened to a buddy of mine...he's been working for about 4 days trying to get rid of it...
