so i've decided to give the much lauded mozilla a try.

so far i'm liking it. and i got to import my bookmarks, which rocks.

but here's my dilemma, and think i must be doing something wrong.

the girlfriend is VERY particular about her bookmark folders, and the bookmarks within them, being sorted alphabetically.

now i've gone into the manage bookmarks area, and sorted things alphabetically. on the "manage" page, they are perfect and alphabetical.

but from the main browser page, they are not. any reason for this?

any help is appreciated.

thanks,

Tree

I seriously don't understand all the buzz about Firefox? I know for a fact it is slower than other browsers I use. And the damn thing doesn't work on alot of sites I go to. There is alot of sites that don't support Mozilla.

I decided to DL it and see for myself. And WOW. This thing (Firefox) smokes IE in page loads. Not even close. I have seen some pages not formatted the same, but they are obscure/oddball sites, not mainstream things.

Recycled, it might smoke IE, but it doesn't smoke some other browsers that use the IE core.

MYIE2
AVANT Browser
SLIMBROWSER

Those 3 are available at CNET.com and all 3 might be faster than Firefox.

MYIE2 is the one I use and it's very fast.

Bookmarks-->Manage Bookmarks

Then, you can organize them manually, if there are not too many (click & drag).

OR...

Click on "Name"
once to sort it alphabetically
twice to sort reverse alphabetically
three times to bring it back to the original order (how you have customized it).

Chuck - i have done all those.

on the "manage bookmarks" window, they are sorted alphabetically, wonderfully.

but in the pulldown "Bookmarks" page from the regular window, they do not match the wonderful sort in the "manage bookmarks" window...

I can't explain the bookmark issue ... Chuck's (6) reply works great for me.

FYI - Firefox has just released Version 0.9.1. - I would hold off a couple weeks to DL as new extensions are written for it. They have yet to produce the ad-blocker or tabbrowser extensions. But several bugs in 0.8 have been fixed, and most pages seem to work without incident.

Hey Tree, man, thanks for the turn-on. I trust thou. I downloaded firebird 0.9.1 and it is noticeably faster than IE6.0 for me. My gut tells me that we also may have the same internet service providers, time warner cable (but then again, you could be verison dsl or rcn cable). Still, for me, it's faster, and I have not even begun to explore its functionality. Cool.

cheers, walk

Walk - i do have the evil empire TWC as my ISP. we don't have a done of choice here in the city....

i enjoy it more than IE, it's less susceptable to a lot of issues for IE, and i *still* can't get my bookmarks alphabetized. lol

I don't get my folders alpha, but within a folder, everything is alphabetized (unfortunately). That's what I get for trying to help.

A Firefox techie might be reading this forum. It appears that a 'Sort bookmark' extension was added on June 27. It claims to sort bookmarks alphabetically.

I'm happy with my bookmarks as they are, so I have not downloaded it myself. Hopefully it works for you.
