0 Subject: Gmail pop access

This is an interesting one.

I have a gmail account set up. On my home computer, I can download mail from that gmail inbox via pop (into Outlook or Thunderbird, for example). I do this by accessing the account name at pop.gmail.com.

So far so good.

I can also use the gmail smtp server to send outgoing mail from my local mail client. I simply send through smtp.gmail.com, with the proper authentication. Mail goes out as usual, and a copy even appears in my gmail "sent mail" folder, even though I actually sent the mail out through my local client. Evidently, any mail going out thru the gmail smtp server is captured in the gmail sent mail folder. A nice feature.

Now, consider this scenario:
1. I originate a message in my local client (Thunderbird), send it to my gmail address, and send it through the gmail smtp server.
2. The email goes out (so to speak) and lands in my gmail inbox, as expected.
3. But when I download my messages into Thuderbird, that particular message does not come down. It remains in the gmail inbox, apparently shielded from being downloaded via pop.

Is that a bug, or a "feature"?
I can't find any mention of this in the gmail help pages. And I can't find an obvious workaround.

Even more curious:
I send an email to myself from the gmail web interface. It immediately lands in my inbox, as expected. And that one does get downloaded to my Thunderbird inbox via pop! So, apparently the pop "shield" only applies to email sent via a local client through the gmail smtp server to myself.

Has anyone encountered this before?

More importantly, if I want to send a message to myself from my local client through the gmail server, is there any way to get it to arrive back in my local inbox? Or do I simply have to email it to an alternate email address?

(Don't ask me why I'd want to do this. Consider it a hypothetical question.)

Gmail works with Outlook for me exactly the same way (both scenerios). I've never tried to figure out a way to send an email to myself via Outlook and receive it there as well.

The same thing is happening to me (in Thunderbird). It's driving me crazy. As I cannot find anything online, I am also interested in finding out why this happens... and whether it is a feature or a bug.

I found that connector you were looking for
Cindy, is this the thing you were looking for?
www.liangdianup.com/computeraccessories_1.htm

It's on the list of computer accessories and parts. They have the DVI video thing to convert that jap monitor to work with your other computer. Just about any other kind of wire adaptor, usb connectors, monitor extension wires, ps2 extention wires, and all kinds of female and male swap connectors and things that I think would help your shop. If that above link don't work then goto www.lducompany.com and click on computer accessories. Let me know if that is what you need and give me your email address again.
