0 Subject: Posting Excel Info

I'm trying to post some Excel data onto the Rotoguru forum but my formatting is lost when I do a simple copy/paste. How do I retain the formatting?

There may be an easier way, but this is how I do it.

1 - Save the file as a web page.
2 - Open the web page, select view > source
3 - Copy and paste the data into your post, making sure you select Yes on the ignore line feeds button.

When you save as a web page, choose to save only the cell area that you want to reproduce, and not the entire sheet. Otherwise, you may get a bunch of blank columns (situated to the right of the table) which force the forum page to widen unnecessarily.

I don't see "web page" as an option when I save the file in Excel (Excel 97). It IS an option in Word however. Any thoughts?

Is HTML an option?

You're right, "Save as web page" is an option in Excel 2000 and later versions, but not Excel 97.

Perhaps you can paste the Excel area into a Word document and then save as a web page from Word? Then you'd need to copy the html source (step 2 above), etc.

That's what I used to do when I ran '97.

It worked but....why the big space before the table?

Did you select the yes button for "ignore line feeds"? If not, that will probably solve the problem.

If so, then Word inserted a bunch of blank lines, in all likelihood. You should try to find only the section of html code that you want to include, and paste only that.

Don't forget to customize it while in Excel. Colors, fonts, etc........prior to doing all the rest.

It's certainly innately beautiful. Beautiful in its own way.

But in the rare event people wanted something that did not put them to sleep, color is an option.

(LMAO)

Why is that "C" way over to the left?

BTW, if anyone wants to test this out, the test forum is the preferred place to do that.
