0 Subject: I have won 3 different lotteries in the past week!

What peeves me the most about these recent spat of spam emails is that they are going to an account that I monitor very carefully. It has been posted here and it is associated with my Yahoo account and my kafenatid account for fantasy baseball only. I do not sign up for any promotions with this account. I do not use this account to purchase anything over the internet, etc.
Yet this company got me and is filling my inbox. Below is one of the messages I got from them (I won $891,000 lbs according to this email!!!!) and my response (first part):

Mr Johnson,

I have a number of questions before I even begin to consider giving 1 bit of personal information to you:

1) Where did you get this email address to contact me?

2) How did my name/email address get into your 'lottery.'

3) If you are a legitimate business organization then why do you have an "@yahoo." email account?

4) Why do you need to know my occupation in order for me to claim my prize

5) If I were to respond with the requested info, how do you use it? Who is it sold to?

6) To reiterate the importance of question 1, How did you obtain this email address?

7) Are you at all affiliated with the Irish National Lottery or the British National Lottery, both of which I have received notifications from in the past week indicating I have won. I must literally be the absolute luckiest person in the world. Or you believe I am the stupidest person in the world. Or this is a scam.

I eagerly await your answers. In the absence of any answers, I ask that you remove my email address from any and all mailing lists your company uses.

For reference, here is their website. I did not actually check it to see if there is any spyware or other such nonsense, so use at your own risk. I did find it interesting that they list Cadbury Schweppes (the cadbury easter egg?) as major shareholder. They even list their board of directors. Ha. They are getting good.

By responding you have just increased the amount of spam you will receive a thousand-fold.

I'm guessing this is similar to the guy from zimbabwe who's uncle just died and he needs to move about $89mil from his estate. Somebody else on these boards responded to him as did I a few years back. I don't remember any bad repercussions from that. It'll also make it easier for the hotmail spamfilter to catch this crap now.

But most of the time I do simply ignore these. The amount of spam was already so bad from it, I figured, "What the heck?"

I have to agree with SZ.

Responding to spam no matter how tempting is a very bad idea.
The African scam you are talking about can also put you in danger.
For some reason they think the word "Barrister"
with a Von in the name somehow make it sound official.
As much as I want to respond to all the Phishing E-mails asking for my for my Password with "Suck my Whatever", I dont because it will only mean more spam.
