I'll soon be transferring the domain name registration for my church's web site. They are currently with enom.com, who charges $29.95 per year, which is absurd.

One option that I've looked at is godaddy.com, which seem quite cheap. ($7.95/yr) Does anyone have experience with them - good or bad?

Are there other options that people might recommend? We don't need any special services. Just bare-bones registration.

I know I can go to google to find a multitude of options. I'm more interested in anyone's actual experience.

I've got my baseball website running through godaddy. Seemed very quick and easy, plus they were have a 2 buck off sale back a few months when I got it, so it was 5.95 a year. They have sales all the time, I know one just ended that was 6.95 (they send me emails about it). I just wish I would have gotten a different hosting site.

I have used godaddy and 875domain.com, both are cheap but never had a problem. For hosting I use UCV Host which charges $12 a year for basic hosting!!!

I'm currently in charge of running 2 separate sites for my church. Both are hosted outside of the registration services, but we've had no issues with either.

The first one was our youth group site purchased through godaddy. Once it was set up, there were no issues. Everything went well. I think we paid the 6.95/year on that one.

Our main church site we purchased through powerpipe.com. This is from KKB in another thread:

And on buying, I use powerpipe.com. Cheapest with best value customer service I've found. I buy everything through them and have not had a single problem go unresolved in less than 24 hours.

I have had no problems with powerpipe, either. Once all my settings were changed to a different host, I've had no need to log-in to either, and both have run flawlessly.

The godaddy registration has been in effect for about 18 months. Powerpipe has been in effect for about 2 months.

To echo what Chuck posted that I said (?)...

I currently have about 10-12 domain names registered through PowerPipe. They currently charge $7.99/year and I haven't had a single problem with them. In fact, I had one domain name that I forgot the password on after it had expired (long story) and they worked with me diligently to make sure I could get the domain name before someone else grabbed it out from under me.

Further, I just got a renewal notice for one of my domain names. It expires at the end of September. I'll get another notice in about a month and then, if I still haven't renewed, they'll send me about 2-3 more emails as the expiration gets closer. In other words, if you don't know your domain name is about to expire, it's your own fault because they're doing their part to let you know.

Overall, I've obviously been very pleased with PowerPipe. Others may be cheaper, but I won't be leaving any time soon.
