I got the blue screen of death last night by accidentally opening a .scr file, thus crippling my computer. (yes, I am a PC)

In order to prevent something like that from happening again, I was wondering if anybody had suggestions on what virus scanner I should purchase to use from here on out (I.E. Norton, McAfee, etc.) For the record, I was previously using the Free AVG Virus Scanner.

Thanks,Slizz

I use Avast for viruses, Spy-bot, Malwarebyte, and Ad-Aware for malware, along with Microsoft's Windows Defender.

Seems to work for me to have multiple programs going on checking things.

GO - I've spent the past 3 hours formatting and re-installing all of the drivers and software I use.

Its quite annoying and I don't want to do that again...lol :)

Thanks PD. I will definitely take that into consideration.

Slizz-I highly recomend Norton Anti Virus. The 2010 version can be found on amazon for $16

I know this is late, but i would stay away from the norton products.

NOD32 ~ www.eset.com ~ faster, more accurate and less resource hungry than norton.

There is a trial allowing you to check it out.

cheers
