Very annoying and very random.

All of a sudden, I am unable to gain access to my yahoo account from my Mac. Everytime I try and login, it asks me to verify my password. But everytime I verify the password, it just takes me back to the verify password screen. I just changed my password because my yahoo account had been hacked twice, once from Argentina and once from Peru.
I can access it from another server at work, just not at home. I tried the tricks with the cahce's and cookies and other stuff, but no luck.

My roommate can sign into his yahoo account from my computer. So that has left me completely baffled now.

Now I dont have proper access to emails or my fantasy teams!

Any help is much appreciated as ive got nowhere with yahoo help topics or their service.

If I had to guess, it sounds like a virus. That's probably how your account password got hacked in the first place. In fact, when you enter your (new) password and it doesn't work, it may be transmitting it back to the hackers again. (If I were your friend, I'd change my password immediately as well!)

Have you tried a virus scan? I'd normally suggest malwarebytes for something like this, but I don't know if they have a version for Macs.

Have you tried to login from a different computer? If you're successful, then it's your computer that's the problem. If not then hacker might have control or yahoo has gone weird again.

Now that I think about it, about 2 months ago this happen to me. Next day there was no problem. Go figure

I thought it was just the computer. But something I find is very strange. At home, I have ADSL modem. I connect to that modem from my Mac via Wi-Fi or Airport.. probably the same thing? It does not work. My roommate connects the same way via his MacBook Air. I also can't use his macbook to get into my yahoo account. At work I have no issue.

So it is the actual internet connection itself and not the computer?

Or does this mean potentially a virus could be on both? And if so, why is his account not effected? His yahoo account can be accessed no problems. I only had the issue when I changed the password, not at the time the "hacker" accessed my account.

And further, im assuming there is no real answer. What are they doing? They arent messing with anything. The only thing they have done(prior to me being locked out of my account) was to send a spam email to my work email account.

The virus scanner is not returning any results.

Do a spyware check as well (which sometimes aren't caught by anti-virus software). I don't know Mac's at all, but perhaps Spybot or some such anti-spyware might do the trick.

Apple has a pretty good community of people helping on these kinds of problems I believe. Might be worth a look if you can get in there!

Well this is a bit strange to me now too. I tried to set up a new Yahoo Account and Im getting the same problem.

Still very strange that m friend can log into his from my Mac, but not mine or any new one that I create?
