0 Subject: Nikon Coolpix 885 & "Sleep Mode"

I am working with a Nikon Coolpix 885. However, I don't have access to the owner's manual to figure out this question.

When I take pictures, many times, after the picture is taken, the LCD display goes into "sleep mode." Then, to take another picture, you cannot use the LCD display to take another picture, which is preferable. Thus, taking 2 or 3 pictures in a row is frustrating at best. If I just turn the camera on, the LCD display will stay on for long periods of time.

I would like to find a way to turn the "sleep mode" off.

Under setup, I have already done this:
Monitor options-->Display Mode-->Monitor On
and
Auto Off-->30 minutes

If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated.

Not sure if this helps or not:

Thanks, AG

I did go that route and did some searching. I also downloaded the manual in PDF. From everything I've read, it doesn't seem like it should be doing this, but I wonder if it's a power saving option somewhere that I'm missing.

From the link:

How can I extend the battery life of my Coolpix camera?

Answer
You can save battery power on your Coolpix camera by setting the automatic sleep mode to the minimum interval. In cold temperatures battery power can drop significantly. Keeping the Coolpix camera warm by putting it in your internal pocket will maximize the amount of power the battery can provide. DO NOT heat the camera. Keeping the camera above 40° F will maintain reasonable battery life.

Additionally, using the built-in LCD display (when availible) to review images uses considerable battery power, to extend the shooting time use the LCD as little as possible.

It still doesn't tell me how to set the "automatic sleep mode," unless "automatic sleep mode" and "auto off" are the same thing. Of course, I would want to set it to the maximum interval. It just doesn't seem like the monitor should turn off after taking a picture, as you are not ready to take another one right away.

Is the screen going back on by itself shortly after taking the picture ?? I have a coolpix 995 and when the battery is close to dead the screen goes off for like 5 seconds after I take a picture. When I have fresh batteries in it's not a problem.
