Has anyone else started experiencing the pain-in-the-butt Bell South pop up on TSN...curtain opens and says FAST...CHEAP etc.
Any ideas on how I can get rid of it.
I could understand pop ups on the Basic (free) game...but to pay for games and get hit with a pop up sucks. |

Are you using IE, or Netscape?

Several years ago Erik actually said that the Ultimate games would never have popup ads. I guess the financial need (or potential) is too overpowering.
But it does seem very odd that a site that wants to attract and retain long-term customers would bludgeon them with one of the most irritating features of the web.
I'm sure glad I have the Google popup blocker. Anyone who doesn't have some sort of popup blocker is really a glutton for punishment.

You guys should try
"MYIE2" browser
blocks popups, flash ads, and a ton of other stuff. Works on the Internet Explorer core engine. Really good browser.
It's available for free at CNET.com downloads section.
There are also other browsers that block popups.

Mozilla Firefox is by far the best browser on Windows, there is really no reason to use anything but Firefox on Windows.

Try Netscape with its popup blocker. Works fine.

PD...I am using IE: and Dave, I am also using the Google pop up blocker, but to no avail. I am going to try the 'ol shut down/restart fix and maybe I can slide beneath the radar again.
Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Someone has the same problem on the TSN boards, but it doesn't appear that they found a solution yet.

Goodnews and bad news. I tried running TSN through Netscape and no pop-ups. Next I tried through IE and the p-u was still there.
Unbelievable
The pop up returns everytime you change the screen and unless manually closed, prevents any point click onto data beneath the pop up and after 5-10 seconds evolves into a banner ad that covers the top 20% or so of your computer screen and then can not be closed.
If I can remember, I will e-mail him tomorrow from work where I have his e-mail address.

I think you need a banner blocker. I use all-in-one SECRETMAKER with IExplorer

There is some potential ad (or ads) at TSN that keep asking me to install some software. That's probably the culprit. Glad I haven't installed it.

Download ADAWARE. Go to Google type in ADAWARE and click on the first link. It will get rid of all that stuff, just follow the directions. I had IE and Google popup blocker and was getting popups, ran adaware and I was fine. I had the same problem running MSN toolbar with popup blocker.

Looks like TSN is removing the ads.

The pop-ups stopped yesterday (Thursday). for some reason, neither Google's pop up stopper or the adware program had any effect on the pop up. The only relief was obtained when TSN took it down.
Thanks for trying to help guys. Looks like the demand for more revenue is always going to win out over good judgement (and good customer service).

Sounds to me like good judgement did win.
