Anyone recognize the error - (and I just manually am typing this since I couldn't cut and paste)

The procedure entry point SHRegGetValueW could not be located in the dynamic link library SHLWAPI.dll.

It keeps popping up... and its impeding my ability to use media player applications.

I think this dll has something to do with virtual memory allocation and color setttings.

Have you tried another video player? Or trying to locate a fresh version of this dll?

yeah, none of the media players work - and actually I have XP not really working either. (No start Menu or anything along the bottom).

I did a ctrl alt del and opened a browser through "New Task - Run" - its like Windows isn't isn't even there. Just my Desktop wallpaper...

let me try and alter the color settings...

Then I think the problem might be a little deeper than the video player. What happens when you boot up windows in Safe Mode?

I will have to try that again later - I am studying for this exam in the morning and have to keep my connection open with the online program I am using to study...

I am trying to explore a bit for Control Panel and can't even find that to try and swith the color settings around...

I got the same error when I am booting the XP Pro OS. The screen hangs up and I could not log into my computer.

shlwapi.dll is a library which contains functions for UNC and URL paths, registry entries, and color settings.

running sfc /scannow from start --> run with the XP CD rom in the drive should detect and replace and faulty or corrupt dll files. For those of you can get to the pc of course...You may also be able to execute this from safe mode....i have never tried tho
