0 Subject: Two reboots in a week

This morning, the rotoguru1 server required its second forced reboot in just a little over a week. For the two years prior, I think I only had to reboot it once. (It's a Unix server, so I expect it to be stable.)

I don't know what caused the problems (both problems occurred when I would not have expected any unusual activity), but does make me wonder whether there is some other related hardware/software issue. In any event, for those playing GuruGolf or Football Pickoff, let me emphasize my advice to make your weekly selections before the last moment. Both of those games allow you the opportunity to undo any moves before the next freeze, so you lose no flexibility by acting early. You can always react to late breaking info if needed - as long as the server is behaving. And if it isn't, a slightly inferior set of moves is probably much better than no picks/moves at all.

Just a word to the wise. I'm not always immediately available to detect and react to server outages.
