0 Subject: Guru, FYI: Ad Clicking Problem?

The following message has appeared on a few occasions when I've tried to do my ad-clicking duty:

Invalid Destination
Sorry, but the server encountered an error while trying to redirect you to the destination of the banner on which you clicked! The most likely cause of the problem is an attempt to click on a banner before the graphic image has loaded. Another possibility is that you attempted to click on an old banner which was reloaded from your browser's cache or the webmaster of this site has pasted the code incorrectly onto their site.

Here's the link that displays in the browser location bar after the banner is clicked:
http://www.teknosurf3.com/cgi-bin/ads.pl?rotoguru+X+mbm+120+advert=NonSSI

Eventually, an ad finally shows up (this particular one was for http://www.adbroadcast.com/).

Most recently, I clicked on the fool.com ad attached to the "Now I remember why I hate Small World!" thread (http://rotoguru1.com/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/rotoguru/click.cgi?http://www.teknosurf3.com/cgi-bin/ads.pl?rotoguru+X+mbm+120+advert=NonSSI) ... which redirected to the adbroadcast.com site.

It's not clear to me what the problem is, although I've gotten a few misdirected clicks as well. It may simply be some instability at the ad server. But there may be some things I can do to "stabilize" things. I'll have to look into this later.

Thanks for the alert.

Guru--I can't remember the last time (at least 2 weeks or so) I didn't get an Invalid destination page when I click on the ad directly after the latest blurb. Get it at work and home. Didn't know if there was anything you could do, but thought you'd like to know. BTW, today's (4/20) blurb has 4/13 as the date.

I dunno. It works fine for me, and the link coding is correct.

I cannot see the advertising at the top center of any page in the message forum.
I know it's there and can click on it, but can't see what it is.
I clicked on the one: http://ad.doubleclick.net/jump/web.rotoguru/mbv;CArea=web.rotoguru;sz=468x60;tile=1;ord=77530?

The page never loaded. I tried it several times.

Even as I am posting this I cannot see the advertising at top of page and it won't load the page:
http://ad.doubleclick.net/jump/web.rotoguru/mb;CSize=1;CArea=web.rotoguru;sz=468x60;tile=1;ord=99810?

It could just be my computer at work and at home, but in case it isn't I thought I would let you know.

btw, Happy Easter tomorrow. =)

I'm having a similar experience. I suspect the doubleclick ad server is just firing a lot of blanks today. Nothing has changed on my end.

Guru: Two of the banners on the Support a RotoGuru Sponsor page--the north and east ones--will not display; have tried both Netscape and IE.
P.S.: Got an excellent deal on a memory module for my PC from one of your advertisers, egghead.com, while doing a bit of day-after-Thanksgiving ad clicking.

Sometimes, one of the ad servers is down. (That same server - servedby.advertising.com - appears to be down right now, too.)

Tried to go to Candyenter.com through your ads. This is the message I received:

The link you clicked on has expired. It pointed to a Web site that was
a member of the Commission Junction Network and has since been deactivated
or temporarily suspended. We apologize for any inconvenience.
