Subject: Forum Name Protection?

I was in the baseball forum just now, and when i tried to type in my name "KnicksFan", the field immediately went blank. I had to change the name to Knicksfan so i could post.
I was wondering if this had anything to do with the fact that i was using my second computer, rather than the one i usually do.
Did you add this feature to protect against things like the Samuli imposter, or was it just a freak occurance?
When I wrote my name for this message, it was fine, but that could be because I haven't posted in this forum before (i think). Then again, I'm able to post as "KnicksFan" in the basketball forum on both computers.
It's not a big deal, Guru, just a big message. |

I don't know what caused your problem. I don't recall any edit checks on the name field.
Let me know of it happens again.
I suppose I could add a name verification check, but it would preclude users from using different computers, and I'm concerned that this might be programatic overkill.

You could add a login feature.

Name verification is definitely not good for me as I use a minimum of two pc's everyweek and sometimes as many as five. I wouldn't want to have to have 5 names..... Login would be OK but at this point it seems like that too would be overkill.... We seem to police the ranks pretty well when someone gets out of hand or posts under someone else's handle.
