Similar to Y2K, I experienced a "Y1B" date problem last evening. In Unix, dates are often stored as a number which represents the number of seconds elapsed since Jan. 1, 1970. I use this date representation when storing the time of the most recent post for each thread.

Last night, the "odometer" tripped over from 999,999,999 to 1,000,000,000. Thus, the date was now 10 digits long, rather than 9. This had a fairly minor impact on the forum. Threads are listed in order of last update. This sort is an alphanumeric sort, rather than a numeric sort. So when the first digit of the date tripped over to "1", those threads sorted to the end of the list. They weren't lost, but they "disappeared" to the last page. Some of you found them there, others didn't.

Some related problems occurred in Football Pickoff, and these were a little trickier to solve. However, I think I have everything working again. Some threads will continue to show some odd dates (e.g., Mon, Sep. 9 instead of Sun, Sep. 9), but as threads are updated, they should once again sort to the top.

Hopefully, I've found all of the programming areas that required adjustment. But if you notice something that doesn't seem to be working right, let me know.

Thanks for clearing it up, Guru.

Not experiencing anymore problems!
