I agree Y2JS has a very good looking team.. But if Alexander is out I don't know about Green?

I made some adjustments, but I don't think this will be my final roster. --------------------------------- QB Trent Green Chris Weinke (for some reason, i'm gonna keep him just to see how he does wk1)
WR Marvin "Snoop" Minnis Brandon Stokley Laveranues Coles
RB Jamal Anderson Stephen Davis Warrick Dunn
TE Anthony Becht
K Brett Conway
D Jacksonville ------------------------------------ I kept about 3.16 mil in the bank. I could use it to upgrade a spot, or I can keep it just incase Weinke does horrendously bad. Then I can upgrade the QB slot.
Thanks for the help in advance. -Kurupt

PC - Heh, that's actually pretty cool that we have the same RB's. Yeah, i'm a big fan of Dunn and the Bucs. I guess it is pretty ballsy to go with Weinke, but I guess it's best to go with my gut (although most people will say it must have been the Pizza I ate today) but, I have a feeling he'll do good.
Who are your QB's? Actually, e-mail me. It'd be nice to have an ally in the world of Fantasy Football. It's my first year, and the guys in my division don't like me all that much.
Peace. -Kurupt

Stephen Davis is a money running back, but having watched the Skins preseason, I would really hesitate to pick him up right now. While he is the main offensive option and Coach Schottenheimer will certainly feed the running game, the offensive line looked ATROCIOUS throughout the preseason. It was awful to watch. And if the team plays as poorly as it did in the preseason, it will be playing from behind quite a bit, which forces them to go downfield with Jeff George's arm.
I would wait a couple weeks to gauge the effect on Davis' numbers and allow the line to gel a little bit more before picking up Davis.

Green, Trent Hasselbeck, Matt Jackson, Darrell Owens, Terrell Moss, Randy Smith, Antowain Dunn, Warrick Anderson, Jamal Conwell, Ernie Kasay, John Seattle
What do y'all think of this roster. Not a penny left over.

Stretch Nuts- I hope the Skins OLine has shaken the rust off and is ready to go by the opener. I really think that he will dominate this year but I think a great deal of his effectiveness will be catching the ball out of the backfield. Up til now he has been labeled a one dimensional back and put in the same category with Jerome Bettis and Corey Dillon but I think this year Schotty will give him a lot of chances as a receiver a la Kimble Anders in KC. This will further increase his value and even in games where the Skins have to go to the air he may still be a valuable player to have on your roster. I predict a HUGE year for Davis solidifying his position among the top 3 running backs in the league.

How about this: QB Warner- bargain at that price and nice sched after the opener. Griese- looks poised for a big year and not many have him, good sched also(may change to hasselback) RB Staley-should have big numbers, improved air attack should open it up for him Jamal Anderson-sched and improving from injury Ahman Green- could change but if healthy should produce.
WR Coles- seems set to breakout Stokley- easy sched and Grbac should help Bradford- may change but ahd some nice plays with Favre in preseason
TE- Franks- who knows Just remember Favre likes to use the TE around the goal line
K Cortez-everyone has him
D Browns- lookin for a team to get to week 3 and pick up the Chargers.
1,130 left over may downgrade Warner or Griese to Hasselback and get the Tampa D but I have that done on another team and would like try something different.

tommyd - I am probably the biggest Eagle Hater on the boards but it is only because they are so OVERRATED! How has the passing game improved. They've brought in a 3rd WR from Washington and their number 2 man is only a second year receiver who has yet to prove himself. First round draft pick Freddie Mitchell has been relegated to the 4 hole behind Na Brown. If anything Duce Staley, who I also think is a tad overrated (Snoop Minus Syndrome) will make the receivers look better than the are because he will open up the pass a bit more. The loss of Bubba Miller at center could also hurt Staley's numbers as it will force a inexperienced player to jump in at center and a rather old Jim Pyne to play guard. I'm not as optimistic for the Eagles offense as many are. I'm staying away from Pinkston, Duce and McNabb.
Another reason you may want to steer clear of Duce...check out McNabb's rushing TD numbers. A team leading 6 which to me means that near the goalline he likes to call his own number. Not good for a fantasy back.
I'd spend the extra coin and grab Stephen Davis or even Warrick Dunn.

I read today McNabb was pretty upset ubout the loss of Miller. I had him locked in as my stud QB, first player I picked up in fact, but reconsidering now.

CP - I'm not an Eagles fan either, but your statement about McNabb's 6 TD's is very misleading, based on the fact that he was without an RB for most of the year. I do agree that McNabb is overrated, but it remains to be seen what Duce can do for an entire season, if healthy. For what it's worth, I chose Gannon over McNabb in one of my drafts...

CP, thanks for the input that's why I put my team out there. I guess the main problem I have is whether any of the cheap RB's will produce like Henry, Jackson, or the RB with San Diego. Originally I had Jackson instead of Green and could upgrade Staley to Taylor but the uncertainty of the cheap RB's shyed me away from it and I remember Staley started off strong last tear so that's what I went with. The question is who will get more points: 2 medium range RB's or a cheapie and a stud. On the subject of the Eagle's air attack I just felt it couldn't be much worse than last year with Charles Johnson. There has been a lot of hype on these boards about the some of the Eagles receivers like Pinkston and Brown plus the addition of Thrash who put up decent #'s when he played with the Redskins last year. You're probably right just giving some of my ideas. If I knew about Jackson or Henry starting for sure I would probably go with one of them and upgrade Duece. I still might, that's the fun of these games and again thanks for your input it's very appreciated.

May want to upgrade Faulk and the Rams receivers for the week-- Troy Vincent got hurt in practice and preliminary report is he won't go this weekend-- 2nd string CB's are decent but definately a rung lower than the starters-- given 2 secondary starters out for the game and the amount of man coverage the iggles usually run the Rams look a little better to me...

K, I am going with McNabb & Hassleback at the helm. I like McNabb to get some points vs. St. L and I will probably drop him the following week which will give m a lot of $$ to work with and a chance to jump on a hot cheap (or atleast cheaper) QB (Hopefully)... We'll see...
Oh and don't worry about alies, there are plenty here. Just don't be an ass and realize who are the ones that know what they are talking about. There are a few of them out there.
Stretch, Yeah you know Shotty will run the ball like a champ. Ball and Clock control is his forte so no matter what Davis will have the ball. However I am sort of hesitant just cause SD has a very strong run D.
CP, Stop hating on the Eagles. They are not overrated and neiter is McNabb. He is the REAL DEAL and now that he has some speed at WR he will be a lot more effective. MARK MY WORD. The D is STRONG! With a potent offense they will be a contender (if they can beat NYG). We'll see if Duce can recover and the passing game is effective.

Check post 75. McNabb lost his starting center. When I solicited opinions on whether this may actually be a potential hidden blessing for McNabb fantasy owners because it may cause him to have to scramble more, resulting in extra rushing yards for him, Challenger offered this: "Bolster? What if McNabb fumbles the snap because of the 2nd string center? Who gets credit with the fumble? McNabb"

I'm a 1st time poster, 2nd year on TSN/SW, have been studying this forum and it's very helpful. For review:
Hasselbeck, Gannon
Stokley, Rice, Coles
Bennett, Williams, Watters
Chamberlain
Cortez
New England
Comments: Gannon is my bias pick as a Raider fan, I originally had Culpepper but was concerned about having 3 Vikings going into next week vs. Baltimore, I think I'm going to treat that like a bye.
Any thoughts?

RE post 91; Testeverde's a crapshoot, a good week 1 gamble I suppose, with shoddy Raiders secondary coming in wk 2 if he does well. I'd be quick to dump him if he tanks against the Colts though. Also, Colts weakness is their run defense not passing D. Their passing D is probably better than some think. I wouldn't count on Bect getting many looks. He totaled 16 receptions last year for a total 144 yards. This year, Vinny has more weapons than he's had since '98. I believe Chrebret, Coles, Hatchett, Martin and Richie Anderson (led all Jets in receptions last season with 89) will all get more balls thrown to them than Becht. Still a good choice IMO, because he will probably get some attention as the new offense calls for Vinny to spread it around and he is cheap.

Okay boys its target practice, this is my week one team in the SNP league. Take your shots and tell me what you think.
QB - Culpepper and Hasslebeck WR - T. Brown,(vs. soft Cinn def) W.Jackson, B.Stokley (questionable with new QB) I may change Stokley for Coles ??? RB - P. Holmes S.Davis(SD def not proven with offseason changes) Dunn(love this matchup) TE- A. Becht (cheap) K- W. Richie D - New England (probably this week only)

Bud I don't trust Holmes. Get rid of Brown and insert Coles or another cheaper wideout (there are plenty of WR options under 3mil) and use the extra cash to dump the Priest. Oakland's running D is pretty tough. And I frankly don't think holmes is that good. Also, I like the NE defense for week 2 against the Panthers but you gotta move them after that.

This morning's Milwaukee paper on Green and Levens:
Running back Ahman Green said he expected to play Sunday, though his injured groin probably will prevent him from being at full strength.
"I am working through a little bit of rust, but it is more of a day-to-day thing," Green said. "I know I will probably be out there. I don't know what percentage I am going to be, but I am going to be out there."
Green returned to practice this week after a strained groin forced him to miss the final three exhibition games. Running-backs coach Sylvester Croom said Green would start Sunday, with Dorsey Levens, who has a broken left hand, also available.
Looks like Green is preferable to Levens, but I suspect neither is going to turn in a stellar performance on Sunday. I hope that suspicion is wrong, though.

debating two positions here:
who do you figure for the most pts in combination:
Grbac+J Anderson orrrrrrr Culpepper+P Holmes
leaning here toward Grbac/Anderson but really not very comfortable with giving up either potential combination. Problem is, only 1 of those pairings will fit given my other position picks and current roster values.

Haven't participated much, due to work getting in the way, but here is another look at a week one team.
QB Warner, Kurt° STL @ PHI $9,950,000 Hasselbeck, Matt° SEA @ CLE $4,510,000 WR Burress, Plaxico° PIT @ JAC $1,330,000 Coles, Laveranues NYJ IND $2,620,000 Stokley, Brandon° BAL CHI $2,180,000 RB Faulk, Marshall° STL @ PHI $11,000,000 Bennett, Michael° MIN CAR $5,100,000 Anderson, Jamal ATL @ SF $5,700,000 TE Franks, Bubba° GB DET $1,630,000 K Cortez, Jose SF ATL $1,650,000 D Jacksonville JAC PIT $3,800,000
Cash left - $530,000
Obviously, real heavy at RB, but feel that is where the points are. Think the WRs will hold up for week one and see where they go from there. Will probably hold Jac for two weeks and then go to SD if they look okay week 1 against Wash. K and TE are just cheap and hope to not get hurt. Cortez has a fairly solid leg, though I wouldn't expect a lot of long ones.
Any thoughts, let me know.
Thanks, Cliff

OK! this is it and i MEAN IT!!!!!
QB, hasselbeck and farve. farve owns the lowly lions in green bay. pain free and no sign of tendonitis farve should fare well against the banged up Lions. hasselbeck is a risk but he had the 2nd best qb rating during the pre season.
WR, stokley, willie jackson and todd pinkston. this appears to be pretty weak but all three are starters, cheap and possible price gainers. hopefully one or two will have a break out game.
RB, edge, micheal bennett and corey dillon. edge, what can you say. he seems to do well against everyone. i'm not a huge dillon fan but he should get lots of carries this week against a poor NE def. BENNETT. i love this guy (in a manly kind of way). he should have a huge day against Carolina. the vikings will really lite it up this week and in fact on one team i have moss, culpepper and bennett. only problem here is a week 3 bye. this team will not be very trade efficient;), but who cares points IS points.
TE, roland williams, cheap and could catch a few balls and hopefully at TD.
K, Cortez?????????? who knows everyone has him.
D, TB. huge numbers vs Dallas, makes sense to me.
1.560 in da bank. gotta have some room to manuver should the cheapo receivers blow up.
good luck to everyone TF

Here is my opening day roster. Am I doing anything really silly? I know I have a few risky pics, but I'm not playing for second place here.
QB Green, Trent Hasselbeck, Matt
WR Thrash, James (now that the eagles have a running game and a deep threat, they will open up the field and should have some nice offense) Dixon, Ron (cheap, last I heard #2 reciever and returning kicks at least for a week or two) Stokes, J.J. (cheap, actually had some big games for me last year. Should show improvement with Rice gone)
RB Dillon, Corey (inconsistant, but he's catching passes this year too) Martin, Curtis (Martin has rushed for 785 yards in six games against the Colts. nuff said) Davis, Stephen (he told me to pick him, he is catching passes this year)
TE Chamberlain, Byron (cheap good TE that shouldn't get much coverage)
K Cortez, Jose (cheap kicker starting for a heavily offensive team)
D Jacksonville (had the seahawks until their corners were destroyed. They play the Steelers, then Chicago, then I'll probably trade)
Bank: $990,000

QB: Warner, Hasselbeck RB: Edge, W. Dunn, J. Anderson WR: D. Jackson, Stokley, L. Coles TE: Chamberlain PK: Arians D: Minnesota
I understand that with Arians and Minnesota I'm going against the conventional wisdom of Cortez and Tampa.
Ariens kicked well for Atlanta in pre-season, converting 4 FGs from over 40 yds, without a miss. Also, if you look at SF's stats from last year, they didn't kick many FGs. That's why Richey had so few fantasy points. Buffalo, on the other hand, gives its kickers more chances at FGs.
I saw a couple of Minnesota pre-season game on the dish and I thought their defense was quite improved. And with Weinke probably playing from behind the whole game, I think there are a lot of opportunities for defensive points. Joe Bryant's cheetsheet has them at #7. Not bad for only 1.68M. And it enables me not to have to compromise at the other positions.

My team atm Favre I remember him healthy Brooks superbowl here we come Willie Jackson(Brooks fav plays SF wk2) Coles #1wr for 2k with outstanding preseason and mad speed) Stokley I hate this pick with Taylor in the wings but not his QB/his team or his 2k price Jamal Anderson(must have) Stewart(sched) Staley(vs Stl + why won't he start like he did last year? Chamberlain (I even liked him before the team change) Cortez nice price/potential ratio Jac Ok I'm a sucker for this D even tho they can disappoint
1,980 in da bank
Popular picks I hate Ahman Green prolly sits or vastly underproduces most of three games with groin Franks drops everything he sees Priest Holmes has been teasing and disappointing for years Stokley but for 2K I had to pick him too Pinkston will show nothing but flashes Hasselbeck tho I love his receivers, his coach, the fact that his team has made many moves to improve, tho he made me mad swirve points last year, just have a very uneasy feeling about this team. He's most likely of these picks to prove me wrong still... Bennett with wk2 in Balt will have to wait to get on my team tho he will eventually Dillon waaaaaaaay too inconsistant, he's only useful in formats where you can plug him in a select few games and without research I still doubt NE/Tenn/Bal are those select games
