Terrible news. Thanks for pointing it out though.

He was the only one I enjoyed listening to on the "Sports Reporters".

I second that KKB,
The "Sports Reporters" was/is a great show, even with some of the knuckleheads that are there.
Who's gonna take over his position...haven't watched it for a while....Lupica?

Hopefully his son. Lupica would just ruin it, IMO.

smallwhirled, getting ahead of yourself a bit there? ;)
I always respected the fact that Schaap was a sports guy who did updates on news shows. He had a great persona, and you could tell even the typical news anchors had no problem passing things to him for his 3 minutes each night. A truly classy individual.

Mike D, you nailed what I always liked about Schaap. He was a journalist foremost, just one who happened to do a lot of sports coverage. He didn't simply fawn over the athletes or the events everyone hero worshipped. He was willing to bring levity where needed, and point out where people were taking things too seriously. But he also didn't try to pick at and tear down the guys he didn't like (a la Ric Reilly).
He wasn't just satisfied with what was on the field -- he really dug into what made a "sports figure" a person. And he did that very very well.

Mr Pres---"and point out where people were taking things too seriously"---thanks for reminding me of that important point about Schaap. A lost art.

I believe that is the information of the insensitive ass that made post #9. The IP address he posted from and the company that IP address is registered to.
