Even better news:

"Sideline reporter Eric Dickerson also will leave the show."!!!!!!

Hopefully Melissa Stark is taking on more airtime now :)

This is great!

Fouts, Miller, and Dickerson were horrible. I'd have to say that I'm not the biggest Madden fan (kinda senile) but that's a major upgrade....and more yime for Melissa Stark will definitely not hurt.

You guys are all out of your MINDS! John Madden is the absolute worst. Did you actually hear him in the Super Bowl, "I don't understand why the Patriots are trying to score here with a minute left in this tied game?" Perhaps it was because they wanted to WIN the game?

I like Dennis Miller. John Madden is suffering from Alzheimer's.

I think Dennis Miller was great the second half of his first year. This last year, he was going downhill in a hurry. He never seemed to have anything worth adding, and when he did speak, it seemed he was trying to force himself to say something, ANYTHING. Madden does have his moments of ineptitude, but they all do. The guy did win a Super Bowl after all. (Then again, so did Ditka, so there goes that argument.)

I am not the biggest Madden fan. He peaked over a decade ago and was overrated then. But with Miller gone I don't have to listen on radio any more. And I hope that a new challenge and getting away from Summerall rejuvenates Madden a bit.

So what, he old. He's better than Miller and Fouts.

Seattle Zen, you must have missed the part afterwards where Madden said, "I have to admit that I was wrong." It takes a big announcer to give an opinion and then admit it when he was wrong.

This duo should be work out good for ABC and MNF fans. At least now people won't think they accidentally switched the station to Jeopardy and will actually hear some understandable insight and commentary about the game being played.

Amen Seattle Zen!! Madden should have slipped out with Summerall. I very much enjoyed Miller, and especially liked how he alienated knuckle-dragginf football fans with his humor. The only good thing to come out of this is that Fouts will be given his walking papers too. Who was more stupid, Fouts or Dierdorf? Who cares, both Dan's were DUMB! If ABC continues with that formula, Terry Bradshaw will be the third wheel on that team.

This is going to be something else with big ego Al Michaels and his limo versus too-much-telestrator John Madden and his RV.

MNF stunk this year not because of the announcers (even though Fouts just plain stunk), but because of the matchups. How many games played under this past season? That almost never happens. Once upon a time you could bet 'over' for MNF all season, and make a nice net sum by the end of the year.

UGH!!! All Madden is good for is his branded video game!

I...am....stunned.

No, not by any of these announcer changes, but rather by the fact that I totally agree with Zen.

Thud...my head hits my desk.

Not much banter about Fouts here, except to group him with Miller and Dickerson, which I feel is a travesty. I like Fouts as a color commentator. I'd probably even agree with a lot of the Madden points above and say that I'd prefer Fouts over Madden. Madden will do fine though, and I still think he adds to the game.

The best part of this whole transaction, besides J's comment about more Stark time, is that Miller is out. I really hated listening to him, and I totally agree with Sludge as to why. I can understand Toral listening on the radio as well. That's pretty bad, when you think about it. Can't get much worse.

Michaels/Fouts (sans Miller) is my pick. Since nobody in authority asked me, I'll take Michaels/Madden.

In reality, I just check the web for updates while listening to JR and the King. ;)

Have to agree with Mike D, I liked Fouts too and wish he hadn't had to share time with Miller.

Have to agree with Mike D also. Fouts peaked my interest more than a few times with his analysis only to be shut down by Miller's interruptions. I have wonder several times how good the booth would have been if it was just Michaels & Fouts.

Bet Michaels is really relieved he doesn't have to cover for Miller and his outrageous, off-the-wall statements anymore.

At least nobody is going to be called "Danno" anymore.
