NFC Title Game: Phi vs Minn, Phi by 3 AFC Title Game: Indy vs NE, Indy by 4
Superbowl: Phi vs Indy, Indy by 7
Really, really, really hoping I'm wrong about the outcome of the NFC game. And by extension, the Superbowl. As a Minn fan of 30+ yeras, this year looks like as good a shot for my Vikes as they've had in a longtime. |

Sarge, unless Marcus Robinson/Burleson and Moe Williams/Micheal Bennett can transfrom themselves into Chris Carter and Robert Smith the Vikes are going to have trouble winning the division. Also their Defense is going to have to come up to the next level. They're a pretty good team but the stars are going to have to be aligned just right. Good Luck!

A team need not win the division, to make the it to the Conference final. Wild card teams can get it done, its just tougher.
Bennett in truth, isnt all that far removed from R Smith in talent. He's just more injury prone apparently than even Smith was. (and that was always the knock against Smith even.)
Moss is the current generation Minn WR to equate with Carter. Robinsons role will be to exceed J Reeds levels of performance. Both he and Burleson are capable of that.
Between Bennett/O Smith and Williams, the Minn Vikings have one of the more talented backfields in terms of depth. All 3 are capable of beieng starters for more than a few teams.
Then you have the NFL's version of baseballs utility infielder, J Kleinsasser. TE/FB...
I see it being neck and neck GB-Minn for the division. In all likliehood, it'll be injuries that determine which team wins the Division and which is vying for a wildcard berth into the playoffs.

I posted the below prediction in this thread, but I'll repeat it here.
MARK MY WORDS: Travis Henry, 1,500 rush yards, 10-12 rush TD's, another 150-250 receiving yards, and 2 receiving TD's this year.
You'll see, TB. YOU WILL ALL SEE!!!

I agree with the AFC road and the SuperBowl winner but, I think the NFC will be Philly and Seattle. I just feel Seattle is ready to move up anohter notch. As a Niners fan I hope I am wrong but as a realist, its gonna be a long long year.

Sarge,
I never thought I would say this but we share at least one thing in common - Viking fans. Of course I am Steeler fan first but I am able to watch MN far more than PIT.
I would be very surprised to see MN in the conference champ. but I hope you are right.
Take Care

1) The Raiders win the Superbowl this year. 2) No more than 5 play-off teams from last year reach the playoffs this season. 3) Travis Henry rushes for less than 1200 yards.
NFC playoff teams: Philly, Seattle, Tampa Bay, Minnesota, Washington, and New Orleans
AFC playoff teams: NE, Indy, KC, Oakland, Pittsburgh, and NY Jets
That was a SWAG. Except for Arizona and SD, I can see every team making a case that they are a play-off contender this year.

You're a SWAG machine.
Baltimore will beat New England in the AFC Title Game.
Minnesota over Seattle in the NFC Title Game.
Super Bowl: Baltimore 27, Minnesota 21
And lots of people wearing purple.

I have to admit, sarge, I would love to see a Philly vs. Indy Super Bowl (The Delphia vs. Apolis Bowl, you could call it). Those 2 teams have so many great offensive players, and it would just be a blast watching them slug it out. Not to mention, when it's all over, one of them has finally gotten the monkey off of their collective back.

1350 yds Rushing, 476 yds Rcvng, 7/3 TDs respectively for a total of 10.
actual stats:
878 yds Ru/750 yds Rcv, 3/7 TD's for a total of 10.

You guys get such joy out of rubbing my nose in that Travis Henry poop, don't you? Travis will be back better than ever next year. Hopefully with Oakland. The Raiders could be awesome with him in the backfield.
Baltimore was not as good as I'd thought they would be this season. Imagine how good they could be with a passing game that resembles Trent Dilfer and Co., circa 2001.

didnt bring this up MC to "rub your nose" in it. (well OK, maybe a little bit lol). Brought it up because even though I was off by 1 game in each conference, I thought I was pretty close. Also for Westbrooks nrs, I called for 1826 combined yds from scrimmage and 10 TD's, while he garnered 1628 yds and 10 TD's. All in all, I was pretty well satisfied with my "prognostication". :)

Guess that's why I am not paid as an NFL analyst. I didn't see anyone else call the Chargers as a play-off team. They were surely this years Cinderella team. Plenty of teams dissappointed their own fans, but no team was a bigger surprise than the Chargers.
I did have a laugh at myself that the two AFC teams I picked wrong, KC and OAK, were replaced by the other two AFC West teams, SD and DEN. I think picking Washington and TB instead of GB and Atlanta is more embarrassing.

Not that embarassing. Henry will do that again at least once before he retires.
Who's going to win it all this season, fellas?
I'm thinking it's too hard to figure out who will beat New England in the Super Bowl.
Who is this year's big sleeper/San Diego/Cinderella?
I've got Detroit. No name defense to go along with Harrington-led young offense. If they make it far it will be pretty surprising.

I just wanted to BUTT the thread so we could get some NFL banter going again. I'm glad you stuck your neck out. If the Raiders don't win it all (and go 7-9), I will be back in here busting on you.
