Didn't have one of these going yet. I thought I'd throw out a good one from the Houston Chronicle:

Carr to the Dolphins for Ricky Williams and their #1 pick in '07.

I saw that rumor on ProFootballTalk.com. I don't think they mentioned the Dolphins giving up a #1. If so, that seems just unbelievable, how far Ricky's star has fallen. Remember, this is the guy who was drafted after a trade of like every pick the Saints had (dumbest move of all time).

I'm not sure Carr is worth a #1 by itself. I suppose to a team that wants a veteran QB and now, it's a good move. But the Dolphine won some games this year because Ricky was healthy when Ronnie Brown couldn't play. I suppose they can win those kinds of games in the future with a stronger defense and better passing attack, but you're taking a big chance with no suitable backup RB. And Ricky is so cheap right now. He's worth his weight in gold because of the low salary.

I suppose the T.O. discussion will get cranked up soon. I read that the Eagles have given Rosenhaus the ability to seek a trade, which won't happen. No one will give anything up for T.O. Probably not even guaranteed money. He'll likely get the minimum or close to it and all kinds of incentives for performance, and I wouldn't be surprised if whoever signs him includes behavior incentives as well. If that is allowed.

Behavior incentives, or a "gag" order?

You also have to remember that Ricky is one failed test away from a year suspension. Ricky is a luxery for the Dolphins right now. I think it's a great trade for both teams. The Dolphins get a good QB IMO while the Texans get a stud RB and can then go and draft Young. The Dolphins can then use this years top pick on a CB on LT.

I'd be very surprised if Ricky gets disciplined any further. He needs that money. He made it through this past season presumably getting piss tested 9 times a month. I think we've heard the last of him failing drug tests. He may up and retire again next week, but that's just because he obviously doesn't like to play that much.

The Dolphins get a guy who was drafted #1. Looking at Carr's track record, I can't say that he is a "good QB". He may be with actual pass protection, but that's still a guess on all of our parts. I like Carr and have thought he was a good sleeper in the past. He has had as many or more turnovers (INT's+Fumbles Lost) as he has TD's in each of his 4 seasons. He was very good in 2004 with 16 TD's, 14 INT's, 2 FL's, 3500+ pass yards and a 61% pass completion rate. He regressed in nearly every category this year. I realize he has no one to throw the ball to, but maybe that's a sign the Texans ought to look at T.O. or trading down in the draft for a WR pick. I just don't know how good Carr is. He's coming up on his 5th season and he has never been great.

It would be an interesting trade, though. I just think the Dolphins might be giving up a little too much. They almost won their division with Gus Frerrotte. They aren't that far away. The defense needs to play a little better than it did in 2005. That's what lost them games.

That Ricky trade is pure speculation by what some dope thinks that the Texans should do. They don't even have a head coach right now. Nothing is in the works or even being discussed.

The dolphins are committed to finding a new quarterback for next year. Frerotte isn't the answer, and Saban doesn't buy into the "Trent Dilfer" was good enough to win a SB. That is one of the reasons Wanstache is gone, he couldn't get that out of his head. Baltimore's defense that year was special. Miami's D is good and continues to improve, but they are nowhere near Baltimore's SB D.

IMHO, Ricky and a #1 is way too much for Carr. The dolphins hold on to Ricky until someone offers something that knocks their socks off, he is too cheap not to. There will be a new quarterback in Miami next year but it is way too early to speculate..

I can't see the Texans passing on a stud like Reggie Bush, so getting Ricky to me is a little redundant.

I know that many in Houston are pining for Vince Young, so maybe they could trade down and then that would put together Vince Young, Ricky Williams, and another first rounder from Miami and maybe something else with the 2st overall pick trade, that is if the Miami deal has any sort of truth, but I just don't know...

Texans assure Bush he will be No. 1, report says

Updated: 2:13 p.m. ET Jan. 15, 2006

Star running back Reggie Bush of Southern California did not make up his mind leave school a year early until his coach, Pete Carroll, had been assured by Houston Texans owner Bob McNair that the Heisman Trophy winner would be the No. 1 pick in the draft, ESPN reported Sunday.

Before the amazing performance by Texas quarterback Vince Young against USC in the Rose Bowl, it long had been assumed that Bush would be the top pick in the NFL draft in April.

Young, a Texas native, led his Longhorns to a victory over the favored Trojans in the national championship and ignited a public frenzy demanding Houston select the quarterback instead of Bush, ESPN reported.

However, the Texans appear to be sticking with their initial plan of drafting the running back — a preference of the top candidate to become their head coach, ESPN reported.

A Broncos source told ESPN that Gary Kubiak, Denver's offensive coordinator and the favorite for the Texans' head coaching post, believes current Houston quarterback David Carr can flourish with a new offense headlined by Bush and wide receiver Andre Johnson.

Kubiak is the front-runner to succeed Dom Capers, who was dismissed as Houston head coach on Jan. 2, one day after the club finished the season 2-14.

The Texans can not discuss or finalize anything contractural with Kubiak until the Broncos' season is over. The Broncos will play in the AFC championship game Sunday.

One final note, David Carr is not currently signed to a contract. The Texans hold the option for next season and as of yet not exercised it. However, this is of small concern as the Texans will have to sign Carr to keep or trade him. They are not likely to just not pick up the option because the would receive nothing.
