Today is 3-5. Yahoo.com has as its headline:
"No deal: Sides break off talks"
What picture do you put with this? Is it no surprise that they chose Jerry Jones! Is this guy (and few others like the owner of our recent super bowl loser in seattle) going to bring down the greatest sport in the world??
Do these folks really care about this sport? If money is their main objective and if there is enough of them, what will happen. The last thing we need is another baseball!

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/9286254 is the NFL.com's story on the deal. I personally say if it isn't broken don't fix it and after reading this the players union is getting greedy. I personally believe that 56% of TV revenue isn't to bad of a deal considering how many millionares that makes. Also including the fact that free agency is a big concession on the owners part. I do know this, that without a deal the NFL could be in trouble and the fans (due to there teams not being on even footing) and the players(who are going to lose money and free agency without a deal) in my opinion are the ones who are going to be hurt by it the most.

On the surface it seems the new deal sets us up for another stare down in 6 years. But that means 5 years of smooth sailing first.
The salary cap really shapes what the NFL has become in large part. I pesonally love it just the way it is, and so I am glad they maintained the cap. I'd hate to see the NFL morph into a league like MLB where Dallas and Washington are the Red Sox and Yankees.
I also think the players should be down on their knees thanking God for this deal. They significantly increased their available salary pool and they had little real leverage other than a strike and the uncapped season, which would have likely disappointed them to begin with.
