Big pickup for the Colts after saying so long to Vandy. ESPN is reporting this is a done deal.

Please Please Pretty Please tell me that this is not a joke. I can only pray that I get to read a Bill Simmons article next year where he bitches and moans as Vinatieri kicks an OT field goal to beat the Patriots in New England after Manning lead them down the field.

Bows head and prays repeatedly.

The only guy in New England that can't be replaced is Bill Belichik.

Brady is a great QB, but they could win 10 games with Kerry Collins or Brian Griese. The Patriots win as a team and they have been ever since this run started.

I hate New England.

You're a Raider fan correct?

Who hate's NE more, Colts fan or Raider fan?

I hate every team, but I hate the Patriots the most.

My Top 5 most hated.

1. Pats

Crap, I can't think of any others I hate.

I am an NFL mercenary. I used to like the Jets, but now I just like whoever is on my fantasy team.

You want to get TB's input.

MC is a Jets fan. Every Jets fans has a love/hate relationship with their team. Division rivalry/hatred is always going to be stronger. The hate I have for the Patriots (based on a bullshit tuck-rule call) can't compare to the hatrid a Colts fan has to have for so many years of abuse by Brady and company.

Yeah, but you guys got abused by the refs, TB. Why hate the Pats for that?

Actually, I was never convinced the tuck rule call was a wrong call. I need to examine the evidence before I say I agree with either side on that one. But regardless, blaming the ref isn't gonna change anything.

The Raiders were actually pretty good for a few years, weren't they? That was the AFC title game, no? And then they lost to Tampa in that Super Bowl. Hey, at least they got that far, sherm.

It was a divisional play-off game they lost against the Pats. It was the Ravens that beat them up in the AFC Championship. I am okay with the tuck rule if the arm is still going forward. I am not okay with the tuck rule when you have brought the ball down to your waist, touched it with your other hand, and started progressing through your reads again. ASTERICK superbowl forever.

My understanding was that it was a bad rule, not a bad call. Didn't they change that rule a year later?

That is what the NFL apologists said after the game; bad rule but good call. I don't think it was a good call. I watched it over and over again. We have seen hundreds of fumbles when the qb's arm was still up in the air. Brady had his almost below his belt. The reason he dropped the ball was because Woodson knocked the crap out of him, not because he was "tucking" the ball and it slipped.

Agreed TB. I was watching it in a restaurant and the place went bananas. I was pissed and I didn't like either team.

Surprised the Cowboys paid so much to Vandy. They usually use guys that can't make any other team there. Maybe Jones is finally listening to someone else about that position.

I quit reading 3 paragraphs in.

No one is going to convince me that QB's are worth less than kickers. The QB makes decisions, he has to have the ability to know when and where to throw the ball, and how to make that decision in 4 or fewer seconds while 300+-pound giants chase him around and try to hit him as hard as they can. QB's are paid for their talent and their decision-making abilities.

Kickers are paid for their talent. They are valuable, but in my opinion about half as valuable as QB's.

Vinatieri is probably the best clutch kicker I have ever seen play. I can't believe New England let him go. I know their philosophy, but there need to be exceptions in exceptional situations.

In 1976 the Raiders got a phantom pass interference call in a playoff game against the Patriots that basically stole the game from them and led the Raiders to the Super Bowl win.

Now everything is even, nobody should be complaining.

I was very surprised that NE let Vinateri go. He has helped them to (I am guessing) at least 10 more victories over the years with his clutch kicks that would have been losses with an average kicker.

Indy gets a quality guy and gets rid of team headache who most likely will be forever remembered for the "he missed it" kick.

Frick - Steeler fans don't care much for the Patriots either. MC - post 2 is so true - all of it.

Hmm, I guess it is ok to talk about teams you don't like/hate and to bring up bad calls that were frustrating/cost a team in this thread without name calling. - nice.

Hey, G, maybe if you would let it go things would be better off. It's over, man.

Take the high road.
