Bledsoe against the Jags or Culpepper against the steelers
Sorry to ask this, I hate to do it, but I have been torn all week and now the game is tonight. |

i will say this.
i thought there were several questionable officiating calls in the Dallas/Jax game. the two reversed instant replays that went in favor of Dallas, the pass interference call on Whitten, and a couple others.
it was not the best officiated game, but for the most part, i stand by my belief that it takes a lot more than a handful of bad calls to qualify as piss-poor.
a good example would be GW Bush. he makes more bad calls than good calls, so he would be the living embodiment of "piss poor".
it would take that level of incompetence for officiating to qualify as piss-poor, imho.

tree are you secretly in love GW Bush? You seem to bring him up in every thread, you seem to be like the homophope who is secretly gay.
Is this how breakfast goes:
wife: tree would you like some eggs? tree: Yes, i want to show bush what i think of killing embryos. wife: how about some OJ with your eggs. tree: as long as it is not from florida Bush's brother is governor their.

Re: 66 Sarge, I don't even know what play you're talking about. I was talking about the Dallas/Jax game.
I was able to watch several games and a lot of Offensive Pass Interferences were called. Any time the receiver nudges to get an advantage, they are calling that this year more than ever obviously. I saw one game where the same guy was called for the same thing in back to back plays for OPI.

Two sad things that occurred this weekend:
First: Due to a family gathering, I missed out on watching any football.
Second: David Carr was my fantasy MVP and highest point earner.

Re: 77 Wrong rule ref!!! That rule pertains when the tackle occurs immediatley upon reception and the carrier goes to the ground. Once they "complete a fottball move with both feet in bounds", ie turn upfield and run...its a catch. Period.
Perhaps you were referring to the NFL ref lol!
Not sure why you feel the need for sarcasm, but it's all good.

Some opinions would be appreciated.
Standard Yahoo league. I have Portis and Duckett (sadly not Betts). Who would you start tonight needing 3 points, bearing in mind my opponent also has the Minnesota defense going?
Neither is obviously a safe play. While I can't expect Duckett to get me lots of yards, he might get in the endzone. Portis might be healthy enough to break a few runs and score a touchdown. Then again he might warm up and not be able to play. I am leaning towards Portis, only because I'm assuming just a touchdown won't be enough.
Thanks for any feedback.

TJ is playing. Not sure if or how much Portis would play. I htink you're in trouble. Hope for a high scoring game to hurt the VIkings D, but I'd go with the sure thing in TJ--not knowing the status of Portis.

UB, What an ugly situation. Here is what I see and think.
From Rotowire on 9/11:
"Portis (shoulder) will play in Monday's night's game against the Vikings, though his exact role has yet to be determined, ESPN's Ed Werder reports. Either way, it is expected that Ladell Betts will get the start at running back for the Redskins. It looks like those who took the leap of faith on Portis' availability this week will get something out of him, but how much that might be figures to depend on how he feels just before the game as well as the flow of the contest"
No comments on Duckett.
If'n it were me, I'd go with Portis.

Williamson needs to work on his hands this week. 2 drops where Johnson puts the ball in precisely the right spot, and the young WR is trying to "trap" the ball between his arms and his body.

I didn't watch this game, but I was following it online. For such a "high powered" defense, Washington sure sucks. I think Minnesota converted more than half of their 3rd downs, and the Redskins had way too many unneccesary roughness and face masking type penalties. They are fairly worthless.
Good thing I started them and their 1 sack in a league. Pff.

OAKLAND
looks like i just lost a game to Toral in RIFC AAA 145.24 to 148.92. had a pretty good lead til Toral's SD defense took the field. I can't believe it. 9 sacks?! Art Shell looked like Dusty Baker standing there. I was waiting for him to stick a toothpick in his mouth. just unbelievable. and to think I was proud of the Bears putting up 21 points. looks like the chargers score 32!

after aol's stat adjustments this morning the bears D somehow picks up 2 pts and the chargers D loses 2 pts, giving me the win by a score of 147.24 - 147.04. crazy close. 1 less yard from one of my guys and one more yard from one of toral's and we tie.

I just love those sites that let us use decimals/fractions in the scoring. Can make for some incredibly tight contests. (Though it would suck royally, to lose by 1/2 point. Which btw, happened to me last year.)

In our auction league, we had a squeaker this past week.
Vicarious D vs Wiggs, 95.76 to 95.18. A meager 6 yards of Ru/Re was the diff.(Pa yds =.04pts/yd. Ru/Re = .1pt/yd)

I guess we're into the 'who start week 2' portion of the thread.
I'm looking at a choice between: Michael Vick vs Tam Kurt Warner @ Seattle
Tampa was pretty average last week. 13th against the pass, 17 vs the rush. Gave up a short passing TD and a short rushing TD.
Seattle gave up no TD's.
I think Vick has the better match up, but Warner seems to have the better weapons.

Re 101 Michael Vick vs Tam or Kurt Warner @ Seattle
I think I go with Warner. Looking at last year vs Tampa, Vick tossed 2 TD's both times he played them and had his only 300 yard passing game. Going back to 05, Tampa owned him. If week one is any indicator, Vick should do okay, but I am with Sarge and like the weapons at Warner's disposal.
Re 103 St. Louis Rams DEF/ST vs @SFO or Cincinnati Bengals DEF/ST vs CLE
I like the opportunistic Bengals defense. Both could be good plays, but if I have the Cincy defense I am starting them this week over every defense not named Baltimore or Chicago. I might have to flip a coin if I had Pitt, SD, or the Colts defense.

All standard scoring, no PPR.
1) Must start 2 of these 3 WR: Laveranues Coles, Plaxico Burress, or Chris Chambers. - I am starting Coles and Burress. I want to start Chambers, but I also want to win this game this week. I think Coles and Burress are safe plays that will have good weeks. I think Chambers could have a great week or a turd. Tell me I am wrong.
2) Must start a flex: Santana Moss, Laurence Maroney, Todd Heap, or Lamont Jordan. If this was week one, I would plug in Jordan and not think twice. The Raiders offensive has me worried. I plugged Maroney in there thinking maybe 80 yards and a TD at best, but then thought worse case maybe 40 yards and no TDs. I switched it to Moss and still don't feel good about it. I think no matter who I start here, I am going to pick wrong.
3) I am starting Isaac Bruce over Randy Moss in one league. Do I need to start taking my medications again? I am starting Fred Taylor over Deuce McAllister in the same league. It just seems wierd seeing Deuce and Moss on my bench.
4) I just noticed that I am starting Laveranues Coles, Santana Moss, and Warrick Dunn over Randy Moss in another league (2 WR and a flex). I think I will change starting Moss's in that league so that I don't totally blow it in every league this week. My starting QB is Chris Simms in that league and my back-up is Rex Grossman, so I probably need to start consuming alcohol very early today.

R Brown, a much stronger RB than Barlow, against the Buff D managed 70 yds on the ground and 52 in the air. That on 21 touches. (15 carries and 6 catches.) No TDs. In wk1, Dillon had 16 carries for 73 yds and no TD vs Buff. Again, Dillon is a better RB than Barlow. IMHO, that puts Barlow out of the equation.
D Rhodes vs JAX?! Are you kidding me? In 2 games, JAX has only yielded 114 total RuYds and 17 total points. No way. He's out.
That only leaves one option...M Jones.

Westbrook. Will he play, or will Buckhalter get the call? I have both, but I also have Addai. Going against JAX however, I'm gonna roll the dice with either Westie or Bucky. It'll be one of those "game time" decisions. lol

Sarge, I haven't seen anything definate about Westbrook, but I could find nothing that said he would'nt play. I would be willing to bet that he'll play, and put up numbers similar to the past two weeks. As you know Westy is an injury waiting to happen and Bucky is good insurance.
You have a nice back in Addai, and had he not fumbled in the endzone last week that starting job would be his. Rhodes has already showed eh can't handle the job and Addai will see a lot of action sooner rather than later.

We really should make this a weekly thread.
I start Kevan Barlow over Jones even if Jones is healthy. I will take a starting RB every day over a WR who isn't on a stellar passing offense and one who has three receivers who seem to get about the same amount of looks every game.
