0 Subject: Deal Westbrook?

I'm in a 10 person CBS league, and have Brian Westbrook, Jamal Lewis, and Rudi Johnson as my RB's. I'm thinking of trying to trade Westbrook for Ronnie Brown...would you do this?

One thing to note is I have Donovan as my QB...

If you think Ronnie Brown is going to outproduce Westbrook from this point forward, especially for you come playoff time, then make the offer. Westbrook is off to a good start but he hasn't played a full 16-game season since...um, ever. Maybe this year is different and maybe you are just making the classic buy low/sell high move. FWIW, I like Brown more over the entire season. I think Miami is going to get it together offensively at some point.

Good question, I just traded him because of TB's reasons. I am in a slightly different of a league set up, namely we start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 D, and 1 Flex anything (including QB/D/K etc - to be competitive you primarily need to start 2 QB's). I had pretty weak WR's in this 10 team league, so, I just traded Westbrook/Seattle D for R. Moss/Ben Watson/Troy Williamson. At RB I still have Ronnie Brown, Gore, Addai, and Maroney and my D is the Bears, so, I thought it was a good idea considering my WR's were weak.

Overall, I think trading Westbrook right now is a good idea. If not, you most likely need get used to seeing "game time decisions" for numerous weeks. And as TB said, he has never played a full season, and the most games he has played in a season is 12 (CMIIW). So, a smart man would say you only have 10 Westbrook games left, at most. Ronnie Brown should still have 14.

I gotta go against the tide here.

Everyone always used to say the exact same things about Robert Smith in Minn. Then he got a full season under his belt, and was an absolute stud after that.

I have Westie in 2 leagues, and I'm hanging my hat on him and S Jackson in both as it turned out. I just made sure to handcuff him with a Phi backup runner named Buckhalter. Got to watch the news every week but hell, we all do that anyway. I'm looking for 1500 or so combined yards and 11-13 TDs from him for the year. If you think R Brown will give you more...then make the trade. If you have R Brown slated with less ( I know I dont have him that high), then dont make the trade.

I see your point Sarge, and my post almost illustrates my fantasy football faults to a T. I don't like taking big risks with my studs, and I think Westbrook is a risk. When he is healthy/playing, he is great, but every season he gets dinged up and misses 4+ games and hurts his owners.

I should of also premised my previous post with, "I have Westbrook in a money league still, and don't plan on trading him. I traded him in my other money league to diversify because I didn't like the injury news/trend, and if he got hurt I didn't want it to effect two of my money teams."

Westy and Lewis are both injry disasters in the making. I think you can run the season with one of these guys but having both on your roster is an extreme risk.

I'm not a huge fan of Ronnie Brown, but I think he can be serviceable.
