I'm in need of a shakeup in one of my leagues (basic scoring). I've started 0-2 and am the lowest scoring team in the league, but I don't want to panic and make the wrong deal. I've been offered the following deal:

Vick & R.Bush
for
R.Moss & I.Bruce

His Team
E.Manning/Vick/Kitna
S.Alexander/R.Bush/D.Williams/Gado
TO/Muhammed/M.Jenkins/Cotchery

My Team
Leftwich/B.Johnson
K.Jones/T.Jones/Maroney/M.Barber/Morency
C.Johnson/R.Moss/D.Mason/Moulds/I.Bruce/G.Jennings

I can obviously afford to move some depth at WR. My questions are as follows:

Is it enough of an upgrade to move from Leftwich to Vick to lose R.Moss?
Does Bush become a starter in my backfield now?
Am I panicking too early on R.Moss here?

Thats a trigger I pull, quickly.

R Moss in Oak today, is not the same R Moss we've grown accustomed to seeing. Oak has severe problems at QB, they have severe problems with the O line and they apparently have no D.

The latter of those situations, means they'll be playing from behind alot and on the surface that owuld be good for Moss. BUT, w/o a solid O-line, their QB cant find the time to throw the ball beyond the line of scrimmage. Multiple receptions, for 15 yds, is not going to help your fantasy team. I really think, Oak may challenge for the "Most Sacked" in a single season this year.

Vick vs Leftwich, IMHO, is pretty much a toss up. Vick has much more upside potential and will on occassion contribute very nicely from his running yardage. But a 200yd passing game, is for him...alot. He will probably run the ball into the EZ, nearly a dz times though and that helps make up for the lack of yardage passing.

How many Wrs do you start and how many RBs? If you start 3 WRs, youd go with Johnson/Mason and play the matchups for nr 3 I assume?

As for starting Bush..I most likely would. I think he'll see more and more of the reps every week.

I think Vick is an upgrade over Leftwich, but I don't think I pull the trigger just yet. Oakland has played against two great defenses and while they have some concerns with the O-line, it looks like Walter is going to get a couple weeks to start and maybe cement himself as the full time starter. Moss has taken it upon himself to help mentor Walter. I read about it from camp and witnessed it during the last game. Hopefully the Raiders wise up and put Porter back in the line-up. That would help their offense. Walter did throw a couple picks, but after a couple series of some nice passes he "loosened-up" the Balt defense up and had some success throwing the ball. I am a homer, but I really believe we see improvement with that offense. Hopefully they don't go back to Brooks because he has been horrible.

I don't think you need Bush, but that depends on your starter requirements. I also have concerns about both of your Jones's over the full season. Is it a fair trade and do you get better at QB? Sure. Do you have the depth at WR to be able to make this trade? Again a yes, but I just wonder if there is a better deal out there for you. If Moss explodes in week four, his value goes back to where it's been. Obviously, the other team doesn't need Vick except for Manning's bye week so I don't think you need to be hasty with this trade.

Sarge, I have watched both Raider games. Their defense has been good. Special teams and two offensive fumbles let the Ravens start in field goal range on the first three drives of the game and the Raider's held them to field goals. Baltimore had more rushes for negative yards than rushes over 5 yards. The biggest play they gave up was a 34 yard touchdown run with 2 minutes left in the game. Take that run away and you are looking at 30 rushes for 104 yards. They only gave up 264 total yards all game. Against the Chargers, LT rushed 31 times for 131 yards. Great stats and I know they all count, but one defensive mistake allowed him to get a 58 yard run. Other than that he was held to 30 rushes for 73 yards (2.4 yards per carry). They aren't a top 10 defense, but they are young and improving.

I think that is exactly what I was saying. The d-line has actually been collapsing the pocket on the QB and forcing him to get rid of the ball. Last year QB's had all day to throw. The secondary and LB are all very fast. Howard is raw at WLB, but is very athletic and still learning the game. Morrison at MLB and Williams/Irons at SLB are doing a good job against the run. Asomugha is in his 4th year/2nd year starting and has developed into a solid CB. He was out last week and Poole filled in okay. I like having Aso in there better, though, because he is faster and much taller (6'2") and when Poole (5'8") was trying to cover the taller receivers I was a little concerned. Plus he is pretty old. Solid vet to have come in to spell a guy, but not who I want starting every week. On the other side you have 2nd year player/1st year starter Fabian Washington who is also still learning the game but is playing well. At safety we have Huff (rookie) and Schweigert, who in his third year looks to have improved on his tackling. The entire back 7 are young players who still have room for growth. Schweigert and Aso are the only 2nd year starters. Everyone else is starting in their position for the first time. The only real age on the entire defense is Sapp at DT, Burgess as a 6-year vet, and Johnstone as a situational pass-rusher.

Young and improving.
