I recieve Steve Smith, Willie Parker
I give Antonio Gates, Kevin Jones, Darrell Jackson

I was thinking of adding his TE, Cooley to it, would it be a good trade for me?

The TE's in our FA are bad, top ones = Scaife, Baker, Wilcox, Daniels, Johnson..

Here is my current team (start 1QB, 3WR, 2RB, 1TE,K,D):

Tom Brady, Byron Leftwich
Derrick Mason, Torry Holt, Joe Horn, Darrell Jackson, Deion Branch
Cadillac Williams, Rudi Johnson, Kevin Jones
Antonio Gates
Robbie Gould
Chicago, Jacksonville

His team:

Carson Palmer, Drew Brees
Steve Smith, Antonio Bryant, Michael Clayton, Randel El
Willie Parker, Tatum Bell, LenDale White, Mike Sellers
Chris Cooley, Q Synieski (who??)
Shayne Graham
Baltimore, Minnesota

I am questioning the reasoning behind this trade. You WR corps. are darn good and your RB arn't week enough to cause concern. His RB and WR are pretty week and he'd be taking a huge downgrade in both for Gates. I don't see any reason to do this trade IMO.

I make the trade if I could get Cooley.

You have to start 3 WR's and Smith, Holt, Mason is better than Holt, Jackson, and Mason. You also end up with arguably the two best WR's in the NFL, and in a league where you must start 3 WR's, that's huge.

You also upgrade at RB, as RJ and Willie Parker are better than RJ and KJ, particularly with Parker's bye already passed...you basically get a free game.

TE is the only issue. Gates is still solid and his bye has passed. Cooley is average. The Jags and Pats are on bye Week 6, so, you are sunk at QB. So, maybe offer him Leftwich for Brees on top of that. Then the deal ends up Smith/Parker/Cooley/Brees for Gates/KJ/DJax/Leftwich. I imagine that Brady, as usual, will not get hurt this year, so, you will start him every game and not miss Leftwich anyhow.

Another route to go is to trade Leftwich to someone else for a backup QB with a good matchup in Week 6 (i.e. Rivers vs. the Niners) and a second TE that they won't use...I would target owners of Gonzo, Witten, H. Miller, and Shockey if they have a backup TE that's too good to drop, but good enough to start. Maybe you can pull off a Winslow, Dallas Clark, or Desmond Clark.

I accidently left off Jake Plummer who I recently picked up off waivers due to his great matchup week 6 - Oakland.

I am trying to work out a deal for Heath Miller..

You def. have the room to trade a QB for a TE. If you can pull of Miller, then I'd say go for the trade with Cooley in it.
