cbssportline reports:
News: NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports that the Cowboys have released PK Mike Vanderjagt, signing PK Martin Gramatica to take his place.
Looks like Gramatica has the gig in hand.

Vanderjagt was horrible this year, but he will get another fat (kicker) contract with an NFL team next year.

The Redskins will sign K Shaun Suisham Tuesday, most likely to the practice squad.
It's uncertain if the team will release Nick Novak right away or carry Suisham as a backup plan. "Obviously, I brought this on myself," a depressed sounding Novak said. Dan Snyder should just sign Mike Vanderjagt now and get it over with. Source: Washington Post

I think the Vandy backlash is really overstated. Dallas lost only one game in which he missed a kick (and that one was blocked because of a lineman missing an assignment). Three of his kicks hit the right upright, which is tricky to do, but there you go. But Dallas lost none of those games.
I could understand if they keep setting up the guy, only to have him be inconsistent and lose some games. But that didn't happen.

I don't see why it is relevant that he did not lose the games in which he missed kicks. The firing is obviously an attempt to prevent future missed kicks, which may or may not decide the outcome of a game. And he has not given them reason to believe he will make those future kicks better than several alternatives.

N/m, I see you were referring to the hatred, not the firing.
