0 Subject: Which QB to start?

Posted by: jrd

Need a little help for this week. I'm leaning towards Vick but Young & Garcia are both possibilities.

Here are my options, I can only start one of them.

M.Vick vs TB
V.Young vs Hou
T.Green vs Bal
J.Garcia vs Was

Thanks.

All good options imho. Young wouldnt be bad choice as Houston's defense is bad. And he's hot.

Here is my not so stellar options this week:

Cutler at SD
Losman vs NYJ
Campbell vs PHI

I'm leaning towards Losman this week. I think Cutler and Campbell are going to get tatooed.

My choice: Vick

I guess you could make a case for any of your four options. Based on the entire season Vick would be my choice. He played quite well against TB in week two, and over the past 2-3 weeks he's been a solid option.

Green looked very good last week, but that was Cleveland not BALT. This is a home game and KC will be very tough at Arrowhead. I'm starting LJ in ultimate even though he's going against a tough Raven D.

Garcia was great Monday night but is he for real or was that game a fluke?

Vicne Young could show HOU why they should have drafted him. He was decent against HOU in thier first meeting so he could do all right too.

#1 Vick
#2 Garcia
#3 Green
#4 Young

jrd - I agree with TF's analysis with Vick, but would put Young second on my list, then Garcia and Green.

Nerf- I agree with you and Cliff and say Losman. I get shivers thinking about having to start Cutler against SD and don't have enough confidence in Campbell.

Which two RB would you start:
R. Bush at Dallas
L. Maroney (questionable) at Miami
E. James vs Seattle
J. Norwood at Tampa Bay
C. Houston vs Buffalo

I've been starting a combo of the top three all year. I think I've scratched Maroney from the list this week because he's banged up and playing against a good rush D so that leaves the other four. Bush had a great game last week, but faces a tough Dallas D. The other three go against lesser rush D's, but James has been ineffective, Norwood is a gamble to get touches, and Houston, even though he had a great game last week, is in a crazy RBBC. I have Bush and Houston pegged to start right now, but would really like to get some additional feedback.

While James is ineffective and Bush has been off and on I'd start these 2. They are clearly the "studly" two of the bunch and I am a believer in starting the studs over the matchups. That being said Houston over Bush would be a good consideration.

Thanks for your opinions!

Nerfherders - I agree with Losman. Cutler and Campbell are still too risky to start.

TB - I'd go James and Bush with my 3rd option being Maroney and 4th being Houston. Worst thing with Houston is you never know how many carries he'll get. But he has been the Jets best back so far.

TB,
Ouch
Bush is banged up, but expected to play.
Edge just hasn't done much.

Norwood has quietly had a fairly decent season.

I would be tempted to go Norwood / Bush

If your heart can't take the excitement though, then I would go with Edge vice Norwood.

TB: Agree with your first inclination...Bush/Houston.

JRD: I see your best three (Vick/Young/Garcia) as pretty much equals this week. Garcia is trying to prove that he's a viable QB and he's in a 1 yr contract. A couple of good games mean the world to him, so motivation is clearly there. Young, has been simply outstanding. That raises the question, how can you bench Vick for a rookie or an aging backup vet? I think you gotta go with Vick, but I'm not real comfortable in trying to assume he;ll outproduce either of the other 2 in any given week.

Nerf: Lohsman, but only because I see him as the "lesser" of the "evils" in your choices.

Thanks for the advice, folks. I think I am going to roll the dice with Edge and Houston.
No on Maroney: Banged up and tough D.
No on Norwood: TB has been playing good run D lately and his number of carries is never a certainty.
No on Bush: Nicked up and playing against a solid D, but he is my best third option right now.
Yes for Edge: Seattle D has been giving up the rushing yards and Arizona has been rushing the ball better lately. Maybe he steps it up a little with SA on the other side of the field. He has to score a TD or two or I am going to pull my hair out.
Yes for Houston: Have to play the hot hand against a crappy run D.

I have to decide between

Edge
Tatum Bell
Deangelo Williams

Points in this league 5 points for 50 yards and then 1 point for every 10 additional yards. Recieving and Rushing. IE 49 yards or less is 0 points. 60 would be 6.

Also a rushing td from 0-9 yards is 6 points
10-39 is 9 points and 40 + is 12 points.
Recieving Tds 0-9 is 12, 10-39 is 18 and 40+ is 24.

Any help would be appriciated.

GO,
Ugh,
Flip a coin.
Actually, as much as I hate to say it, I think I would go with Weinke.

Well one bonus is I am sitting here and can watch Weinke's game. As I always say - if its a toss-up (and I am going down anyway lol...) I may as be able to watch and scream at the tv! (I also have Steve Smith so thats a double-TD bonus).

NYG vs. CAR on my tv shortly.

And yeah this is vs. Mike D, so if it works out - I'm telling him Cliff made me do it :)

Go Weinke!!

Losman worked out for me, but only by about a 1.5 points. Cutler actually had a decent game vs the Chargers. Campbell wasnt too bad either.

I had Young. Started him over Green and Brooks. No complaints.

*addendum:

unless S Jackson just goes OFF tonight. Lets see, I need him to garner 250+ RuYds and 6 or 7 TDs. :)
