I find this funny especially after ESPN had him on during the draft and he remarked at how he could make Quinn a star on the Panthers. Maybe he'll go to Cleveland and make him a star there? |

They gave him $3 million a month ago as a roster bonus. WTF are they thinking?

What is also funny, Keyshawn said that Dwayne Jarrett wasn't ready for the NFl, and he suggested that he stay at USC for his senior year. Now, Keyshawn is cut, and Jarrett will be in a good position to get his job.

LOL this is hilarious. Not that anyone would lose their job, but at his supposed know-it-all approach at the draft show and talking about how good he is and how good the team is going to be with him and who they should pick or not to play on his team. He will find work somewhere. Hell, I'd take $3Mil to walk away! Hey I'd take a lot less than that. Here tha Panthers? Cut me, I'm cheaper!

From the Charlotte Paper:
Why Was Keyshawn Cut?
Down 27-24 with little more than a half-minute to play against the Eagles, Keyshawn Johnson ran one of his favorite routes, a fade to the right corner. But Lito Sheppard got in his way and Johnson cut his route short. Jake Delhomme's pass went about where it was supposed to, but Johnson did not. Sheppard picked off the pass to preserve the three-point victory. Delhomme took responsibility for the interception. Some teammates, as well as the gentlemen who employ them, waited for Johnson to acknowledge his role. But he would not say the fault was his. Rather than share the criticism from the media and fans, Keyshawn let Delhomme absorb all of it. The interception probably ended any opportunity Johnson had to remain a Panther.

From Rotoworld:
The Panthers didn't pay Keyshawn Johnson a $3 million bonus in April. ESPN and other media outlets are reporting they did. The Panthers designated Keyshawn a June 1 cut, allowing his prorated signing bonus to be spread out over 2007 and 2008. It did save Carolina some money.

How do you cut someone now and designated one then if it isn't June 1st?

The NFL made a rule change that each team may designate and cut up to two veteran players prior to 1 June and consider them 1 June cuts. The whole point of cutting a player after 1 June is to spread out the signing bonus escalation over two years instead of taking the entire hit this year. So, the players get to become free agents right away and their cap liability can be spread out just as it would have if the player had stayed on the roster until after June 1st.
I'm pretty sure the player's association fought for this so the vets could find a new team without waiting for 1 June to come rolling around. Really, the NFL should just change the rule and allow every team the option to spread out the signing bonus escalation for two seasons for every cut player. They make rules and then try to find loopholes for their own rules.

was just looking at his career stats. he hasn't had a gain longer than 40 yards since 2002. no surprise there. his career passing stats are 0/5, 1 sack, 2 int's. he fumbled 9 times in his career, 8 were lost, and 4 of the fumbles were when he was with the Cowboys.
