was looking at the draft peeks at kafenatid and found this:

1.01 Priest Holmes RB KAN
1.02 Torry Holt WR STL
1.03 Kevin Jones RB DET
1.04 Drew Brees QB NOR
1.05 Frank Gore RB SFO
1.06 Shaun Alexander RB SEA
1.07 Willie Parker RB PIT
1.08 Steven Jackson RB STL
1.09 LaDainian Tomlinson RB SDG
1.10 Clinton Portis RB WAS
1.11 Peyton Manning QB IND
1.12 Deuce McAllister RB NOR

Priest Holmes???
2003 draft guide maybe?

is this a rotoguru league? it's called NoQuitters 2007 at kafenatid.

Maybe it is a keeper league, and Holmes was someone's keeper (keepers get inputted first, to take them out of the draft pool).

Don't think so... Drafted 9.01 = Lynch, Marshawn

Strong Style 2007 is just as bad:

1.01 Rudi Johnson RB CIN
1.02 Peyton Manning QB IND
1.03 Tony Romo QB DAL
1.04 Jon Kitna QB DET
1.05 Joseph Addai RB IND
1.06 Willie Parker RB PIT
1.07 LaDainian Tomlinson RB SDG
1.08 Shaun Alexander RB SEA
1.09 Steven Jackson RB STL
1.10 Laurence Maroney RB NWE
1.11 Frank Gore RB SFO
1.12 Larry Johnson RB KAN

Interesting to know whether or not there's a reason for this.

Maybe there are 8 keepers per team, so, 9.01 is the first pick of the "draft." Marshawn Lynch as the first pick of a keeper league isn't far fetched.

well, being as i'm the commish of Strong Style... :o)

it's a keeper league. we've got 6 keepers in our league - 4 offensive, 2 defensive.

the first six rounds are keepers.

although in that other league, i can't imagine anyone keeping Priest Holmes...

Both are keeper leagues.

I suppose that'd be helpful info to include on the Draft Peek, eh?

One thing to note is that keeper leagues are NOT included in the Average Picks page, so this has no affect on that page.

I kept Priest, yes a looong shot. But this team is pretty weak. Not sure I had even 6 that were legit.

My first pick (1st overall) was Lynch.

8 Keepers. Someone's first pick was that guy in the "doghouse" who may never play again.

Just for the sake of discussion, or to further mock me o), I picked up Priest from the WW at the end of last year.

Obviously desperate for RB help with J.Jones, M.Barber and Caddy as my others.

Other keeper options were Welker, Fury, Delhome, Panther's D, Wilkins, Cotchery, and LJ Smith. Wanted to keep LJ, but he reinjured his sports hernia. Didn't want to keep a 3rd QB. Kept Ben and Brady.

BTW, I inherited this brutal team from a well known (unnamed) person on these message boards.

Also, I inherited another team that's far worse than this one. Fortunately, I don't mind a severe challenge and realize that both are long term rebuilds.

It's a keeper league. Peyton wasn't kept so I don't know how many they're keeping.

Yes the NoQuitters League is a league that developed about 7-8 years ago from the Rotoguru Boards, and most of us have been involved since the beginning. I believe this is either year 5 or 6 of the keeper league in football, and we have one for each sport. The order of the 8 keepers was simply however each team listed their players on the keeper declarations and they were input into Kafenatid the same way. The team with pick 1.01 was the team with the 1st pick so obviously they had the worst record last year and as mjd said, keeping Priest was pretty much the best he could do with the team he took over.

I like these established leagues that have been around for a while. It might take a few years to rebuild a team, but the league will be there and I've got nothing but time.

I've been in a couple of supposed keeper leagues than never survived after the first year.

I gotta admit, this has pretty much been my favorite team each year. Having Manning, Harrison, and Wayne lighting it up week has been awesome. Coulda just picked up Gonzalez too, but really needed another running back.

Won the league championship with this team, but Priest was my first waver wire victim, so by the time he actually played, he was long gone from my team. I did see him on more than a few rosters by then. You just never know.

Worst to first is very satisfying against this top notch competition. But as always in fantasy football, a lot of good luck was involved.

BTW, Brady and Marion Barber are the only players left from the original team 2 years ago. One decent first round pick (in 2 years) and a bunch of free agent and waver wire moves.

and back to the strong style "first round" above:
Strong Style 2007 is just as bad:

1.01 Rudi Johnson RB CIN
1.02 Peyton Manning QB IND
1.03 Tony Romo QB DAL
1.04 Jon Kitna QB DET
1.05 Joseph Addai RB IND
1.06 Willie Parker RB PIT
1.07 LaDainian Tomlinson RB SDG
1.08 Shaun Alexander RB SEA
1.09 Steven Jackson RB STL
1.10 Laurence Maroney RB NWE
1.11 Frank Gore RB SFO
1.12 Larry Johnson RB KAN

on that list above, you have the 2nd and 3rd best QBs, the 2nd and 3rd best RBs, plus 3 other top 20 RBs. and you have Alexander and Johnson, who are perennial first round picks.

so as odd as that list above might have seemed, it really isn't that odd at all...
