0 Subject: 3 seconds on the clock? End of the half!

seriously - what the hell was that? Are we now playing football with 29:57 per half?

that was an atrocious job of officiating. There was no question there was time on the clock when Grossman was sacked. and not tenths of a second, but a full two to three seconds.

awful. just godawful.

Did you guys watch the Steelers game today ? The TE caught a ball and as he catched it in the air gets flipped over and the ball pops out and without hitting the ground a steelers player intercepts it and returns in like 50 yards. 49ers Challenge the play saying that the TE was down by contact. Replay looks like his elbow hit the ground before the ball pops out. Referee comes back saying that it's just an incomplete pass and no interception. Whats crazy is that there is only 2 options on this play. Either the TE caught it and is down by contact or the Steelers intercepted the ball. The incomplete pass made it 4th down and 49ers kicked a field goal. I don't know why the Steelers coaches did not make a big deal about it unless they just didn't realize it.

RE: 2
Didn't see the play, but it sounds to me that screwy reception rule was in effect. If the elbow hit, then the receiver was down by contact therefore could not have fumbled or had teh ball intercepted. However, when you catch teh football, you have to demonstrate possession through the play. Since apparently he didn't control it well after he hit, I'm assuming that's why it was incomplete.

Ref: But the ball never hit the ground. So if it was an incomplete pass then the play should not be over until the ball hits the ground.

Right. It's that screwy interpretation. Maybe I can catch it on the highlights.

Once again, the refs are just brutal. Some obviously don't even know the rules.

That Grossman sack was on 4th down. Change of possession is automatically a time out. Yet there was the ref, swinging his arm to run the clock.

That's what you get with part time refs.

That Pitt/SF call was bad, too. Every game I watched had some poor officiating.
