In one of my other leagues a trade offer has came across that has intrigued me:
Eli Manning
Plaxico Burress
-for-
Philip Rivers
TJ Houshmandzadeh
Scoring breakdown is as follows:
1 point per reception
1 point every 10 yards, no fractions
6 points every TD
1 point every 20 yards passing
4 points every passing TD
The guy who offered the trade to me is 6-2 sitting alone in 1st place. Right now I am in a 3 way tie for 2nd place at 5-3. Obviously he has bye week concerns with the NYG and wants to play for the regular season victory which will get him back buyin times 2.
My question to you guys is as follows: Do you think I would be better to make the trade, get the Eli Manning to Plaxico Burress combo and double up for the playoff stretch??? or do you think I should hold on to what I have in Philip Rivers / T.J. Houshmandzadeh and try and win both the regular season outright and rely on that combo through the playoffs? |

I'd hold off. I like SD's passing schedule going forward, especially compared to Manning's when adding in the bye and upcoming cold weather in NY. I also like Housh better than Burress because of the bye and injury issues shown by Burress this year. I just wouldn't do it, but as I have said in other threads, 50% of the time I am right 100% of the time.

Gotta go with leg on this one too. SD I think, has a better upcoming slate for Rivers, than does NYG for Eli.
Besides which, neither Eli nor Plax could play for oyu this week. (Bye week) Who would you have to go, in their stead, if you did do the trade?

as an aside...IF he would do the trade next week, you could get Rivers AND Eli vs Minn. Yes, I'm a Minn fan, but their Pass D is abhorrent on a good day.

That would be pretty sweet - wait til Sunday at gametime to accept it! lol...
To me Housh is the best player in this, its tough for me to do a deal where I don't get the best player.
Good points about the upcoming cold weather too.

Quick accept the deal before the guy comes to his senses.
I think Rivers and the Chargers are going to have a great 2nd half. Housh is one of the top five receivers in the league.

TF - I think he would be giving up Rivers and Housh. If that's not right, then I agree with TF.

If you're GETTING Rivers and Housh, I'd take it. Otherwise, I wouldn't.

just for fun....would you mind posting each week the points from Manning/Buress and those from Rivers/TJ in oyur league over the next cple weeks?
We see a lot of these trade question threads, but dont recall seeing any where the data was supplied afterwards, to demonstrate whether it was a good or bad call.
