0 Subject: Fantasy Football Playoffs

Posted by: JTSERB - [481020120] Mon, Nov 26, 2007, 05:27

I have been running a Fantasy Football League for the playoffs for the past 4 years now and wanted to get some early feedback if anyone would like to join.

Ill give a basic rundown on how it goes if you are interested you can post your email so i can send all the info out when everything is ready.

It is a 4 round league using weeks 1,2,3 of playoffs and the Superbowl

Each participant chooses the following for each week of Fantasy Playoffs

1 Quarterback
1 Running Back
2 Wide Receivers
1 Tight End

- A player can be drafted by a a single team more then once. For example if there are 30 participants in the league all 30 can have Tom Brady

- You can only pick a player once during the post season. Once you use the player for a week you cannot use him again. You must plan wisely or you could be without a starting player for a specific week.

- The Scoring System is as Follows:

QB,RB,WR,TE

1 Point for every 30 Passing yards
1 Point for every 10 Rushing yards
1 Point for every 10 Receiving yards
6 Points for any Touchdown
-2 Point for Interception
-2 Point for Fumble Lost

Decimal Scoring is used in this league

IE: 22 rush yards is 2.2 points not 2 points

I run everything in excel and use all stats from yahoo box score.

Everyone will get an excel sheet from me each week with all the rosters and each week with the updated standings

I usually get around 10-15 guys for this and there is an entry fee of $25 dollars. I don't take any money off the top depending on how many players there are will determine how many places get paid.

Anyway we are still a good month away from getting this going just wanted to see if anyone was interested.

JT

I was in an intereting post season pool last year. It worked similar to what you describe above, except yo picked multiple players from each position and it included 2 kickers and a 2 team defenses.

In the one I was in, you picked your 16 players (2QB, 4RB, 5WR, 1TE, 2K, 2D) at the start of the playoffs, you could only pick a max of two players from any one team, and they are all selected for the entire post season.

Whichever way your pool goes however I'd be on the fence, leaning now.

I like playoff fantasy football. It's a nice "fix" to ease the withdrawal of the football season.

JeffG im leaning towards your setup, but with a few changes. I want to add another TE spot and also put in some kind of injury exemption.

Say you have Reggie Wayne and he gets hurt and is unable to play the next game in the playoffs. I want to make an exemption that you can sub another player for him as long as you stay in the 2 players per team limit.

<----I'd like this I think. Particularly, since from my 3 leagues, only 1 team made the playoffs and they as a WC team, so their post-season is likely to be short.

This sounds like a fun concept. Like Sarge, I am only in one playoff run and am also a WC. Maybe this will give me more time to catch up on baseball?

Got pretty much everything ironed out guys, but im still on the fence on how to score Defense.

New some ideas if you guys don't mind

I really don't want to include yards as a category for defense while I know it kind of important it does add quite more work and alot of more room for error.

I was thinking just going with this basic formula.

Sack (1)
Interception (2)
Fumble Recovery (2)
Touchdown (6)
Safety (4)
Block Kick (2)
Points Allowed 0 points (15)
Points Allowed 1-6 points (10)
Points Allowed 7-13 points (6)
Points Allowed 14-20 points (3)
Points Allowed 21-27 points (0)
Points Allowed 28-34 points (-3)
Points Allowed 35+ points (-6)

That is what im leaning for right now. Seems pretty simple. Im open to any ideas though?

I forgot to add to the above that as of right now Kick and Punt returns for TD will not count for your Defense. I am willing to change that if there is a majority that wants it, but I don't like the chance say if someone has Seattle D and Nate Burleson at WR and he returns a punt for a TD then that team would get 2 tds for that play. I think that is to much.

Just wondering if this is H2H or Total Points?

Just got back from vacation. Count me in. Email at link and I will submit my roster and get my check out ASAP.

FWIW, the pool I mentioned in post [2] scores D/ST like this.

Team Defense/Special Teams
a) Shut out = 8 points
b) 0 TD’s allowed = 4 points (note, a defense cannot claim A and B)
c) Touchdown = 10 points
d) Safety = 4 points
e) Interception/Fumble recovery = 2 points
f) Sack = 2 points

NOTE: If a player WR or RB, for example, Hester, returns a kick/punt for a touchdown, he would get credit for the TD and the Def/ST would also get credit.

What does this sentence mean?

"You can only pick a player once during the post season. Once
you use the player for a week you cannot use him again. You
must plan wisely or you could be without a starting player for a
specific week."

So If I pick Brady I can only use him for one game? Doesn't
seem right if I can only have 2 QB on my team...

I guess the trick is to pick a team whose players will last til the
end -- right?

So we pick the players (as per #12) and wait for them to gather
points for us? The idea being to pick players who last longer...

Or do we set a lineup for each weekend?

Thanks.

Just to be sure

We pick all those players, then out of those players we form a starting line up of
1 qb
1 rb
2 wr
1 te
1 def
1 k

As our players teams lose we lose them from our team

For example I take Portis and Washington Loses I lose Portis off my team. If he wins can I use him again?

[19] You select 17 players period, good for the whole post season without alteration to your selections. You cannot pick more than 2 players/defense from any one team. All 17 players score points for you for the duration of the playoffs.

JTSERB - how many people do you think the pool will have?

I should have the same guys as last year. I believe there were 12 players.

From Rotoguru

Kyle has sent his roster in

Waiting on: JeffG, MJD, and Wiggs

Possible?

Judy, Sarge

So well have anywhere from 12-17 im guessing Jeff

Jeffg's understanding of the rules in post 20 is correct.

Sorry if I dont answer your questions during the day. I work midnights so Im hardly on unless its really early.

I've had a problem with intermittent internet service since Sunday. The few hours it's been on, I've had home business issues take priority over researching my playoff league lineups (I hate when that happens).

Hopefully it's up for good now and I can wrap up the business stuff and concentrate on the important stuff.

Next round of checks should be going out by tomorrow. My payment for this league heads that list.

Sorry for the unanticipated delay.

That's upsetting... 8 points out of 1st place. 80 more yards in 3 games from Maroney would have been the difference. Oh well. I did well for thinking it'd be Colts-Cowboys.
