Jints and Bolts getting no respect this week.

Of course the sock puppets are all over the Pats, but they also all seem to be picking Green Bay.

Yet more man-love for Lord Favre.

I must be killing Cowboys fans to have to get their Super Bowl box pools and have to keep reading the name GIANTS in big bold letters and when figuring out their scores... and listen to 2 weeks of hype... and then have to watch the actual Super Bowl with them in it thinking what might have been.

As a Jets fan I similarly hate seeing New England there... but our "rivalry" is more akin to a hammer and a nail so it doesn't really feel like I missed out on anything lol...

Man, I didn't even care about the Dallas svcks part of that thread, because we all know Dallas svcks (or atleast life long Redskins' fans do).

I liked it for TB and Slizz's posts.

Thank's RSF! You've inspired me to finish my NFL to College Football comparisons...

::note - these were filled out before the weekends games, just never got around to it b/c the thread was nuked::

NFC East
Dallas Cowboys - West Virginia: The stage was set for a national championship. Top offense? check. much improved defense? check. Everything was in-line with them to advance to the big game...and somehow they manage to screw it up vs a rival.
New York Giants - Tennessee: Phil Fulmer & Tom Coughlin, Erik Ainge & Eli Manning. Intense media scrutiny for inability to win the big ones. Somehow, when the dust settled, each team was playing for their conference championships after going on a roll to closeout the season.
Philadelphia Eagles - Clemson: Puzzling team, but I think Clemson and Philly go hand-in-hand. Both played tough schedules and both managed to play to the level of their opponents. No matter how good or how bad their opponents were, it would constantly leave you scratching your head.
Washington Redskins - Virginia Tech: Tough, gritty team who endured a significant loss, rallied in spite of that, and after getting blown out by the champions (LSU & New England), the team stuck together and came on strong at the end. Honorable Mention - Auburn.

NFC North
Chicago Bears - Louisville: Although the Bears offense stunk, this was the only top 10 team with National Championship hopes to totally lay an egg and be the entire season. The Bears were picked by just about EVERYBODY to win the NFC North and possibly represent the NFC again in a super bowl. That to 7-9 is pretty bad. :`(
Detroit Lions - South Carolina: I forget who posted that about the Lions as South Carolina, but they were entirely right. Each team got off to a hot start but the wheels fell off midseason and what was once aspirations to contend for a championship turned into playing for a bowl game to nothing.
Green Bay Packers - Ohio State: Ugh, I hate giving the Packers any type of credit, so I wont :) But I think this is a fair comparison. The "best" team in the land that got the least amount of press.
Minnesota Vikings - Arkansas: Two star runningbacks and bumble the boy wonder at QB. One week they look to be back on track, and the next week they make you wonder how they were even considered good to begin with...

NFC South
Atlanta Falcons - Syracuse: Doormat program, lived up (or down) to expectations. Not gonna comment much on the Mike Vick situation, but that team was doomed from the beginning.
Carolina Panthers - Miami: The "U" prides itself on that solid defense with playmakers on offense. Carolina had both Steve Smith, two-headed monster at RB, and a solid defense going into the season. Well the offense didn't do much b/c of a crappy quarterback(surprised?) and the defense did its best to hold the aenemic offense in games.
New Orleans Saints - Rutgers: Everybody's darling last season; a boatload of hype, easy schedule and a shoe-in to contend for the big east championship. Its fair to say that each team fell far short of expectations.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Kansas: You're probably wondering how I can compare a 12-1 squad to the 9-8 Bucs...easy; The bucs 9 wins came vs inferior competition. Just about all of Kansas' 11 regular season wins came vs crappy competition. Each team almost stole the show too!

NFC West
Arizona Cardinals - Michigan State: As of late, both teams have been laughing stocks. From Dennis Green's "They are who we thought they were" rant to John L. Smith slapping himself in the face...something just wasnt right with either. Each have new coaches and are finally getting respectable again. Definitely on the rise...
St. Louis Rams - Nebraska: Both were sleeper picks for their division crowns returning the bulk of players on offense. What ended up happening was a total collapse, mostly fueled by piss-poor coaching.
San Francisco 49ers - UCLA: Rode a wave of hype into the season after strong finishes to closeout the season last year. Started off strong and a injury here, injury there, the team imploded.
Seattle Seahawks - Texas Tech: Both teams really didnt run the ball effectively all year, so they turned to the pass game spreading the defense out. They pulled a couple big "W's" and ultimately showed their true colors vs the Pack. Good, solid team, but just not ready to be part of the big guys on a regular basis.
