This is an interesting take on the real financial cost to fantasy owners due to Brady's injury. Brady $$$$

Excerpt: Here's how the math is done.

Brady's incredible year last year, which included a record 50 touchdown passes, meant that about 50 percent of the people who drafted Brady last year won their leagues, Thomas said. With the Brady hype not bought by all, Thomas said that it was believed that about 30 percent of leagues this year would be won because of Brady.

I doubt half the people that had Brady won there league last year. If 30% of leagues this year would be won due to Brady, he would have been the consensus #1 pick. But, he was not.

i think that is what he is saying. he believes brady should be the consensus number one pick so since u can get him at the discounted rate of mid-first round it sets these teams up very well so that 30% of them will win.

Of course thats jsut his opinion

I, too, doubt that 50% of Brady owners won their league.

I would say that at least 50% of Brady owners made their league's playoffs, but Brady down the stretch wasn't the same as he was at the start of the season. In fact, Week 15 (140 yds, 0 TD, 1 INT) was a prime time for teams to beat Brady owners.

Both Brady teams in my leagues last year lost in the playoffs. One in Week 16 and one in Week 15. Neither won the championship.

0 for 2. Anybody else with some actual data?

in my 3 Yahoo leagues, all three Brady owners made the playoffs. all three lost their first game in the playoffs.

only of of those three even finished in the top four during the REGULAR season, but that's because the owner also had Welker, Wayne, and LT2. that won the regular season crown, had a bye into the playoffs, and then promptly lost.

In last year's RIFC, the Brady team lost in the playoff finals.

Also, one reason that Brady teams did so well last year is that they did not have to spend a first round pick to get him. In the 2007 RIFC, Brady was taken as the last pick in round 3.

Brady's loss to those fantasy owners could shift about $150 million in fantasy league winnings from those who had Brady to those that didn't, according to Jeff Thomas, CEO of SportsBuff.com, a fantasy sports site.

Here's how the math is done.

With about $500 million in fantasy prizes on the line, that's a $150 million shift in dollars. And some think that's at the low end of the spectrum since the total value of office pools is tough to ascertain.

I was more interested in their analysis of the financial cost to fantasy team owners.
In any event all of us who drafted Brady have an uphill battle. For myself I need Favre to play like he did in 2007 and Forte to have a rookie season like Peterson did last year

Must be nice to write an article with no actual facts and pure speculation and still get it published at cnbc.
