I have a question about waiver position in these leagues. Has using the weekly team rankings as the determinate for waiver position, as is done in the professional leagues, ever been considered? I think that this would not only make the leagues more competitive, but could keep teams at the bottom of the standings interested and actively playing at the end of the season. |

Thats what we do in Football 101, perhaps thats why 9 teams all fought for 1 last playoff spot on the last day of the season last year lol... only the bottom 2 out of 14 weren't in playoff contention.

We do that for the first six weeks of the RIFC (football) leagues.
Never considered it for the other sports. Not even sure if the Yahoo platform could administer it.

Why not for all sports for the entire season? If the platform would support manually resetting the positions once a week, competition would be enhanced for the entire season?

I think the rest of the sports have a more daily pick-up process---unless you are H2H and have weekly locks.

In the first year(s) of the RIFC, we did do it all season, but then changed so that it would be for 6 weeks only. I forget the exact rationale, but I'm sure the relevant discussion thread is still around.
Frankly, my sense is that waiver pickups are not nearly as prevalent in the other sports. I don't think it would be a big issue.
