Subject: Attempting to go to a Bears game (Week 16)

I'll be in Chicago the week of Christmas and I would like to go to see the Vikings play the Bears at Soldier Field. It's a Monday night game against a big rival, which probably makes it a tough ticket to find. The Bears are out of the playoff hunt, so that should help. I'm interested in hearing opinions from people who might have gone to see the Bears play lately: what are my odds of success within a budget of a couple of hundred dollars? Is scalping legal locally, and if not, is there any market for tickets on the streets around the stadium? I'm not too concerned where we sit in the stadium, as long as we get in. |

I found some tickets on Ticketmaster at field level. Face value is $102. That's for the 18th row near the goal line. I decided to get them so I don't have to learn about Chicago ticket scalping firsthand and possibly miss the game. Also didn't want to carry the necessary cash into the city. I have a feeling this option wouldn't have been available to me if the Bears were in the playoff hunt, but the experience should be fun. I'm preparing to be frozen to my chair.

Sky pants MC... make sure you bring some sky pants! You'll probably still be cold (depending on how many brews you knock back), but not being "wet" would be ideal.
