Tomlinson meeting with the Jets. Apparently he's willing to be a backup to continue his career.
Browns sign Ben Watson in a good move for them.

Tomlinson doesn't have a ton of options. Westbrook and his concussions are giving him even less.
A lot of people loved Quinn, but I hated the guy and never thought he had what it took to be a leader for the team. He's the new Tim Couch, IMO.
The Browns are now going with Delhomme & Seneca Wallace which should be a nice upgrade.

I just don't see why you move a guy with some potential to Delhomme/Seneca which has no longterm potential. Are they taking a QB in the draft to groom as "the guy"?
LT to the Jets. Interesting.

Quinn had plenty of chances but never took charge like he should have. As noted in one of the on the Plain Dealer story, "The Browns just traded away Ryan Leaf!"
He's got a career rating of 67. At least they got a decent blocking fullback and a draft pick for him.

Mike Holmgren is putting his footprint on the team, and obviously, neither QB was thought too highly of. I think we can trust his judgement with his track record.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that the Browns' interest in Colt McCoy is "real," and believes Mike Holmgren's club could use a second-round pick on the Texas alum.

More in the rumors department, but McNabb getting traded out of Philly is getting more and more likely by what I am reading and hearing. As an Eagles fan, would like to see it happen, but am somewhat afraid if it does.

They just talked about him getting traded to STL for 2nd round #1 and a player, (this was on a Philly station). I don't know why STL would make that trade though.

Philadelphia traded S. Brown and Chris Gocong to the Browns for Alex Hall and 4th and 5th rounds picks this year. Brown is awesome, and Gocong is a good fit for a team that plays 3-4 D. Hobbs is supposed to step in for Brown and Hall will get a chance to play SAM.

I don't think they are done. This could be the move that starts he McNabb dominos. The rumored Oakland deal from earlier this week could now be made, for isntance (McNabb for Asomugha), if it had any merit. They couldn't make that deal before moving a CB.

Sources say that McNabb is traded to Washington for a couple of picks. Interesting that they would deal in the division.

Yeah that really surprises me. But Reid said "the compensation" was right----we can translate that to "it was by far the best offer we were going to get."
In this year's deep draft, they got a second-round pick (37th overall). They also get either a third- or fourth-round pick next year.
He had to take it unless he was keeping him. And there's no way he could, at this point.

The more I think about it all, I guess that with all the rumors, it was kinda like the Cutler deal last year. But I think that the last two games against the Cowboys and how impotent the offense was, and his antics before the game had the Eagles brass looking to the future with Kolb.

If we had:
a healthy O line a running game some decent DB a healthy LB corps a more balanced game plan
then maybe Dallas would not have slaughtered us -- twice.
I do think that McNabb will do well in Wash but they need to get him some more deep threats than just S Moss.
Donovan was always a class act and deserves a chance to be successful. Kolb has a lot of pressure on him to win right from the get go.

Steelers trade Super Bowl MVP Santonio Holms to the Jets for this year's 5th round pick (# 155).
Seems like a great deal for the Jets, but it's been rumored that Holmes is due to start the season on a four-game NFL suspension for violation of the league's substance-abuse policy. Holmes is in the last year of his rookie contract, so basically it's a 12 game tial.
And Jets coach, Rex Ryan probably has a man-crush on Holmes, after the numbers that he's put up in the past vs the Ravens when Ryan was the DC in Baltimore.

Just read that indeed Holmes is suspended for the first 4 games of the upcoming season.

Yeah--the Jets would get him for 12 regular season games, and would have to do a new contract to keep him. The Steelers might have wanted to dump a troubled guy, too, with all the other stuff they have.
This is great news for Mike Wallace.
The tough part for the Jets will be fitting him in. But they have to have been disappointed in their wide receiver corps anyway last year.
Dont be surprised to see the steelers do something with Roethlisberger. (or as people say around here worthlisberger.) The guy is a real jerk, alot of stories around here about him.

Eagles get Ernie Sims, Broncos get 5th round pick from Eagles and Detroit get Scheffler and 7th rounder from Denver.
Rumor going around now that Oakland is about the only team that might trade for him.

Not condoning his conduct, but how about a second chance? How many teams have a multiple SB champion franchise QB? Let him serve his suspension and hopefully learn.

Love the Sims trade for Philly. First 3 seasons, over 100 tackles in each. Coaching change, a shoulder and a hamstring later, he's worth a 5th round pick? He's 25 and healthy. Great buy low deal for the Iggles, and hopefully he regains form. Really no reason why he won't.
I don't know why anyone would be happy to acquire a player drafted by Matt Millen.
