0 Subject: The HOF awaits Moss

Randy Moss retires as one of the all time great wide outs.

Rec 954 T-8th
Rec yds 14,858 5th
Rec TD 153 T-2nd
100-yd gms 64 2nd

One of my favorite players of all time. Simply put, he was the greatest long ball pass catcher ever. He alone made Daunte Culpepper a NFL quarterback. If you didn't enjoy watching this freak of nature fly down the field, jump into the rafters and make jaw dropping grabs, well, go watch NASCAR.

well Moss is part owner of a NASCAR team, so perhaps he'll take your advice

He really didn't seem to have it going last year. He's only 34, but I guess he saw the end coming and decided to go out on his own terms.

There have already been some interesting articles about his retirement and eventual induction into the HOF. Moss wanted to play this year, but only for specific teams, when those teams didn't want him, he decided to retire.

He also might not be a first ballot HOFer. While his off the field problems are 1 issue, a much larger issue is his history of quitting on teams and in games. His numbers are impressive, but what would they look like if he had played hard for his 2 years in Oakland?

Culpepper was never the same after he left, and even though he was an accomplished QB, Brady got put into the Manning stratosphere when he went to NE.

No question, Moss elevated the "apparent" value of the QBs he played with.

1st rounder? Probably not. I think the voters will defer as "punishment" for his antics. 2nd round possibly, 3rd...almost definitely.

sorry for the double post, but I just read SZs link and felt this quote really says it all about Moss' skills:

He scored 17 touchdowns to help the Vikings reach the NFC title game, a season so overpowering that the rival Packers used their first three picks in the following April's draft on cornerbacks to try to slow him down.

Didn't do much good. Moss scored at least 10 touchdowns in all but one season in his first tour with the Vikings.

Unlike the conservative Deion Sanders, for instance?
