0 Subject: qb situation Manning, Flynn RG3

The rams are in a great spot with the 2nd pick and all the hype for RG3. By no means am I an expert. Teams that are talking getting a new qb. Skins, Browns, Seahawks, fins. Other teams maybe looking for a qb AZ, and vikes. So two teams wil sign Manning and Flynn.
It makes sense for Manning to sign with a dome team and/or a team that is close to the playoffs or a team with some good wr. AZ, Fins or vikes make the most sense. I am not sure if AZ has the money to sign manning with signing Kolb last year.
Ok so where does Flynn go? I think he ends up with the Fins or the Seahawks. I could also see the seahawks suffering through this season and going for Matt Barkley next year.
So that leaves the Skins and the Browns going for RG3. The browns have more to give, but neither team has a stud WR. The asking price seems super high to move up 2 spots, but several people think it is worth it.
I see mock drafts with the skins taking tannerhill with the 6th slot. I know that is just a mock draft, but it makes much more sense to trade down and pick up some other picks which they need. I am not sold on Tannerhill as well.
What will the browns do with Colt McCoy?
I believe the Redskins are still a long way away from the playoffs and trading more picks doesn't make sense. RG3 does look like a great player, but without anyone to throw too he doesn't help.

The "darkhorse" rumour of the Eagles being potentially interested in moving up into the top 2 is pretty interesting.

Any thoughts from any of you Philly homers out there?

Haven't heard about the Eagles--that would be an interesting spin.

I have been hearing that if Indy cuts Manning loose (which looks virtually certain at this point) that he and Reggie Wayne might try to jump to a new team together.

I'm a Browns fan and I've only heard speculation at this point--the Browns seem fairly solid with their uninspiring but safe Colt McCoy. But their history of bringing in over-the-hill QBs can't be ignored.

I do suspect that Manning would be looking at OL quality as one condition to his own FA decision. Interestingly enough, the Indy OL was one of the best in the NFL last year.

So it looks like Manning might go to the Fins and they might be willing to have the most guarnteed money.
So where does that leave Flynn? This is a big question mark. It seems like it would be Seattle, but I can still see them tank this season and hold out for Barkley with Pete as the coach.

As a Colts fan I'm sad to see Manning leave. While it is going to be a painful separation, I think it is the right move for the team in the long-term.

I think there are a couple of interesting sides of this. After Manning's camp leaked that he was willing to take less guaranteed money and would take performance bonuses, that talk stopped once Irsay said he would take the same deal. For all of Manning's talk about wanting to play for only 1 team, that didn't mesh well.

I think a separation is the best thing for both parties. The Colts need to rebuild and I don't think they can do it before Manning retires. So does he go to where he has the best chance to win, or does he go where he gets the most money. If it is a couple of more chances at a SB, I wish him the best of luck. If it is one more payday, I still think he is one of the all-time greats, but his legacy is hugely tarnished IMO. I saw an interesting stat on twitter last night. Since Manning signed with the Colts 15 years ago, he has been paid $1,474/hour for every hour he has been signed with the team. I think the total is $173M of the 15 years.

One last thought. Do the Colts have any valid tampering claims based on all of the news that has leaked about who is interested in him?

I get the feeling that Manning won't be at all effective. This game moves fast, and players become washed up just as quickly. If a team does sign him, plan B better be pretty solid.

It will be weird though to see him in a different uni. The Colts won't be relevent again for a couple of years. I heard a bit of Irsay saying something about pieces being there when Manning came in, Tarek Glenn and people like that. They have a few pieces on the D, but do they have on the O-Line? They drafted a LT last year I think. They have a lot of work to do. Manning made people look a lot better than they actually were. The GM comes from the Eagles org, so I hope he does well in the rebuild.

The O line was ranked 4th in the league last year. I wouldn't worry about that too much.

It is kinda amazing how quickly that team fell apart, however.

They "fell apart" because their star QB didn't play. If Manning was healthy last season, the colts win 10 or more games like they have in 11 of the last 12 seasons. The Colts have more double digit winning seasons with Manning as QB than they total in their history without Manning. They hadn't been relevant since the 1970's before Manning dropped into their lap. The 9-7 1995 Cinderella team that almost beat Pittsburgh in the AFC Championship was a fun team to cheer for, but that's also the only Colt team to win a playoff game without Manning since 1971.

They swapped first round picks this year, to be more specific...But huge haul for the Rams. They will still pick 6th overall and an extra second this year. Honestly, I would be more excited if I was a Rams fan. RG3, meet Hershal Walker.

very nice hershal walker reference. It looks like Flynn might be going to the browns.
Manning?? Denver- I don't think so they don't have enough around him to be a contender. Jets are out. Fins might be out, but could be a smokescreen. That leaves Seattle, AZ. KC thinks they are in the mix and they could be a good fit. The division is not too tough with Denver, San Diego, and Oakland. KC makes more sense to me than Denver for sure and probably more than AZ, and Seattle. They have a ton of cap run, Bowe, Charles. Az has fitz and wells and you get to play and live in AZ. I think he ends up in AZ.
I think the Skins overpaid, but it all depends on what RG3 does and what they can accomplish in FA. I hope they don't completely over pay for FA again this year because they will need some money for next year, since they don't have a number the next two years. The skins have not built well in the draft ever since synder bought the team.

Denver owner says he'll do whatever it takes to get Manning.

My guess is that he'll go to Miami. Better receivers, OL, warm weather, and the QB situation is more open there.

Don't forget to add in no income taxes in Florida and Manning (reportedly) already has a house in Miami.

I think Denver wants Manning as much as Miami. He is probably the only way they can avoid rebellion from the Tebowites and get rid of Tebow.

The Redskins paid a lot. But, if RG3 turns out to be a franchise QB, it is a good deal. Did the Giants over pay for Eli Manning? The Giants paid one 2 1sts, 1 3rd and a 5th. That is more than the Redskins pay, but do you think the Giants would have paid 3 1sts and and 1 2nd for Manning, know what he would become?

I underdstand that Peyton has categorically statd he isnt going to Washington or any "cold weather" environ. To my mindss eye, Miami is the logical and far and away most likely, destination.

Frick,
Giants gave up 2 1sts, 1 3rd, and 1 5th
Redskins give up 3 1sts and 1 2nd.

Skins gave up quite a bit more value in those picks. Chargers turned those picks into Rivers, Kaeding, Merriam, and tackle Roman Oben (in a trade to TB for that 5th round pick). Eli has led the Giants to two superbowl wins. Hard to argue with the move by either team. It will be interesting down the road to see how those picks turn out for the Rams.

Tebow to NY Jets. There seems to be some discussion as to whether the NYC media will eat him up. My own belief is that in the minds of fans winning will overcome, literally, anything a player does.

Have any of you notice how Elway has boxed the Broncos into a corner with the all-in for Manning?!!?

Quick, name Manning's back up!!!!

Adam Miller

Brady Quinn reunited with Roman Crennel @ KC thru free agency and as we know, Tebow chose to be traded to the Jets over the Jags.

I heard something on the radio that really made me think. Someone was comparing RG3 to vince young.
Here is vinces college stats. 3,036yds 26 tds 10int 65%COMP 993 yd rushing 12 tds. 6'5" 230lbs. wonderlic 15 ran 4.48 at the combine. He didn't do anything else.
RG3 4293yds 37 tds 6 int 72.4% comp 699yds 10 tds
6'2" 223lbs. ran 4.41 39 vertical 120 broad. I couldn't find the wonderlic score on RG3, but I think he did well. So is rg3 going to be like VY or better. Or the better question is what happened to VY? He has the tools proved he could do it and now he not good. I just hope as a skins fan RG3 is the real deal and the frachise qb for the next 10 years.
