RIFC Managers - You are each invited (although not required) to post your general reflections on the completed draft. Comments may be as detailed or as general as you wish. As a catalyst, free free to comment on any of the following:

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?

2. What were your favorite picks? Which do you wish you could do over?

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)?

4. What surprised you most about the draft?

5. If you could start over, would you do anything differently?

Non-managers are also welcome to post general comments on the draft, and to raise questions.

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?
Goal #1 - Grab 2 starting RBs in the first 5 rounds. Shore up depth RBs soon after.
Goal #2 - Don’t be afraid to deviate from targeted players/positions if the tiers don’t align.
Goal #3 - Besides DE, hold back on IDP as there WILL be value in the 2nd half of the draft (ie. Somebody else started a run).
Goal #4 - Do the supplemental research (Returners / Players qualified a different positions [DE/LB] / Players in positional battles), and be ready to REACH if necessary.
Overall everything went pretty well. I found the returner players more volatile this year than in years past… very few that could be counted on as dual-purpose, but I got one that I consider solid anyways.

2. What were your favorite picks? Which do you wish you could do over?
Favorites:
10.12 Jacoby Jones
14.12 Fred Jackson
Do-Overs:
None yet
3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)?
Plenty of managers don’t like to answer this question, but I personally find it fun.
Holt’s team intrigues me. Plenty of risk (Vick/Gronk), tons of RBs (some he’ll drop this week no doubt)... it’s really a swing for the fences type of team.
Bonka’s team seems very solid, as per usual… Elite LBs, no major wholes to worry about, should be contending for the playoffs.
Smith32 looks solid as well, with some interesting picks at WR. Could be his strength.
There are other teams that stack up well too, but those stood out to me.

4. What surprised you most about the draft?
The miniQB run early… besides that, not too much. Every year is a little different in fantasy which is fun… keeps it fresh.

5. If you could start over, would you do anything differently?
No yet. I’ve very content with my team, I think they’ll be very manageable during the season.

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?

A. Grab a top 3 QB in the first or second round.
B. Have 2 RBs after 3 rounds.
C. Stockpile RBs and WRs.
D. Avoid bye problems.

I definitely executed A and B. While I did execute C, I'm not entirely thrilled with the stockpile I have. I totally messed up D. Judy and Promize get wins in Week 9. Wilson, Bush, Smith, Peterson, and Dansby all have byes that week. Luckily I'm covered on Brees's bye with none of my other projected starters having a bye. My kicker has 10 straight weeks before I need to replace him.

2. What were your favorite picks? Which do you wish you could do over?

Favorite Picks:

2.03 David Wilson, RB
6.03 Patrick Peterson, DB
8.03 Derrick Johnson, LB
While Wilson may have been a reach, it paid off now that Brown is injured.
Peterson was a highly sought after IDP and I got him. That feels pretty good.
Johnson feels like a steal and looking at the other leagues it looks like I got him pretty late in the draft. (He was LB10 here and LB7, LB4 and LB7 in AAA#1, AAA#2 and AA respectively)

Do overs:
5.12 Tavon Austin, WR- Should have gone Decker. This is a lottery ticket that may end up a dud.
12.03 Carlos Dunlap, DL- Reached on this one big time. Should have waited and taken Cordarrelle Patterson. He better perform, but I could have waited 2 rounds for him.
16.02 Danieal Manning, DB- I should have waited. This one chaps my ass as I had Michael Bush pegged for either 16 or 17 to be a good week 9 bye fill-in. Should have went Bush-Manning…

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)?

IAC- Looking at that offense it's tough not to like IAC's team. Spiller's a stud, I don't know how Graham lasted until 2.12 in this league, I was looking at taking him at 1.12, and Tom Brady is Tom Brady. He's got solid IDP to back up that offense
Smith32- I really like the combo of Romo and Eli, and I saw a lot of IDP guys I had queued up go 3 spots before me. While not especially deep at RB, he's got 2 guys who should put up a ton of points with Richardson and Sproles (if they stay healthy).
Holt- It's tough to ignore the person who drafts on the turn right before your pick. There's some boom/bust potential on the team but I saw a lot of guys on my board snatched right after me.

4. What surprised you most about the draft?

The non-RB top players seemed undervalued in the draft. Brees was a top 5 pick on my board, Graham was a first rounder and the AJ Green and Dez Bryant were also first round value on my board. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that everyone puts so much value on RB here, but sometimes I think it gets too much.

5. If you could start over, would you do anything differently?
I don't think Brees would have made it to the second round for me but I think I should have gone Forte-Manning/Rodgers and had more points in the bank. Or possibly Forte-Wilson-Brady... I'm really second guessing drafting Brees in the first.

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?

Rounds 1 and 2 go RB and pick up best available after that. No, I didn't execute my strategy. I couldn't resist Newton in the late second round when I should have taken another RB and it haunted me the rest of the draft.
No complaints about McCoy, but after that my 2 best RB options are McCoys back up and an aged RB in a time share with a younger, more explosive option who will get more time, probably.

2. What were your favorite picks? Which do you wish you could do over?

Honestly, I don't know that I have a favorite pick which really stands out to me as, "this guy will be a key value." I like my WR team so pretty happy there. But if I could do over, I'd take Frank Gore or Reggie Bush in round 2. Maybe Vick in 7 or another available QB in 5.

Barring that, just taking a RB with my r6 pick.

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)?

sR and TD worry me and Guru ended up with a roster full of players that were high on my target list.

4. What surprised you most about the draft?

The turn from rounds 6-7 and the big run on RB's who will do nothing but score points on people's benches.
Some of those guys were picking up their 4th RB at that point. I was careful with my R6 pick, avoiding a RB because looking over the rosters of those picking before I did again, all were pretty set in RB and had holes elsewhere. I figured people would be more apt to fill holes than benches. I was wrong and that 1 pick hurt more than any other.

5. If you could start over, would you do anything differently?

Yeah, I'd have stuck to my game plan that I had in the beginning.

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?

- Be strong at RB. Scarcity is a big factor with 14 teams.
- Exploit situations where guys with return yardage are being undervalued.
- Wait on QB if it makes sense to do so, because I did not see a huge difference between Cam Newton (my QB4) and Eli Manning (my QB13).
- Wait on IDPs because there always seem to be serviceable guys on the waiver wire.

2. What were your favorite picks? Which do you wish you could do over?

Favorites:
- Getting Sproles in Rd 2. Nice to have 2 solid RBs, and with his return yards, I think Sproles is as good as many of the first rd RBs in this format.
- I thought I had a great run in rounds 9-11. Eli Manning will give me the chance to exploit matchups at QB, and I think Floyd and Sanders both have great breakout potential at WR this year.

Do-Overs:
- I probably am wasting a roster spot on Percy Harvin. Time will tell.

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)?

IAC always drafts a solid team, and I think Jimmy Graham could be a big difference maker this year.

I think sR has a hole at TE, but otherwise is very strong.

If Eddy Lacy lives up to the hype, Bonka could be really tough to beat.

Holt has one of the biggest collection of high risk/high reward players I've seen on a single team. He could score 200 points more than anyone else, or finish dead last, and I wouldn't be shocked by either.

4. What surprised you most about the draft?

How early the QBs and IDPs went. It left a lot of valuable skill guys on the table for the middle rounds.

5. If you could start over, would you do anything differently?

Maybe not draft so many old guys who have low ceilings. My team should be consistent, but it might not have the explosiveness needed to beat a top team in the playoffs.

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?

Bargain hunting was the general plan. Knowing I couldn't get Peterson in the 2nd & A Morris in the 17th again this year, I primarily set my targets on JJ Watt & Gronk. Figured the 13th pick pretty well ensured I could get those two players in the 3rd & 4th. I expected to draft WR and RB in rds 1/2. Was a little surprised to get Forte at #13. I kind of expected to get AJ Green there. Then Wiggs took 2 RB on the turn and left AJ available in the 2nd. A.J. & Forte is a good deal for me, I think. This overall strategy pretty well dictated that I would need to go RB/QB in rds 5/6. I didn't expect to get an RB of Richardson's quality at 5.13. Figured I'd get forced to draft a high mileage guy like D Williams or a stinky Jet like Ivory. I'm obviously high on the Rams offense this year, as I also got J Cook & C Givens, both bargains in my opinion.

I was kind of hoping Luck, Romo, or Stafford would be around for my 5/6 picks but the run on QB's was fairly early. There were 4 QB's left that I considered playable, and only a couple of us didn't have a QB, so I ended up just taking DeSean Jackson at 6.02.

Oh. I ended up with Vick and Palmer at QB. If Vick stays healthy and the Eagles offense is as explosive as some predict then I got a real steal. If not, I've got Palmer, who is solid and directs a pass first offense with some good receivers. I think I loaded up at WR/TE/RB with little penalty for waiting so long on QB.

2. What were your favorite picks? Which do you wish you could do over?

D Richardson at 5.13 was the biggest relief. Le Veon Bell in the 11th may turn out to be my A Morris pick this year (doubtful, but I can dream). Moreno in the 13th is looking better now, though that situation is pretty muddled. Dwyer is obviously a do-over, but at 17.13, who cares?

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)?

Guru has a set of players I like. I like Luck this year, Gore/Murray/Bradshaw is a playable group, love Calvin and T.Y. Def. looks solid enough.

Smith32 looks solid. Romo/Eli, TRich/Sproles/Tate, Fitgerald/Bowe, Tony G, and a playable group of IDP's.

Lot of good looking teams as always. Guru and Smith32 just have more players that I personally prefer.

4. What surprised you most about the draft?

The quality of WR's available in rds 3, 4, 5, etc. The WR's (and J Graham) went a little slow, and QB a little fast in my opinion. How'd Graham stick until 2.12?

5. If you could start over, would you do anything differently?

I don't think so. I'm pretty happy with my team. Of course, the season is just starting. Ask me in week 7 and I'll give you a list of do-overs.
