RIFC Managers - You are each invited (although not required) to post your general reflections on the completed draft. Comments may be as detailed or as general as you wish. As a catalyst, free free to comment on any of the following:

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?

2. What were your favorite picks? Which do you wish you could do over?

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)?

4. What surprised you most about the draft?

5. If you could start over, would you do anything differently?

Non-managers are also welcome to post general comments on the draft, and to raise questions.

I'll start:

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?

I used the same strategy I've used for years with a few tweaks. Try and draft at least one upper tier IDP at each position. Wait on positions with perceived depth (QB and TE). Draft several bench players with upside, but don't rely on too many high upside, low floor type guys (rookies) to be every week starters right away. Don't get caught up in any kicker runs :)

Overall I'm pretty happy with how I executed. I waited on QB and TE and ended up with a few players I was happy with in Rivers, Fitzpatrick, and Ertz. The Bradford trade may hurt Ertz a bit, but we'll have to see how that plays out. While I always try and get an upper tier IDP at each spot, I didn't plan on going as heavy as I did. Taking two of the first three LB's (Keuchly and Bowman) was not my intent, but is how it fell to me, and should give me a leg up every week at that position. I waited a little longer than I would have liked at DL, and wish I could have snagged one of the top 5 guys, but I sacrificed there a bit for LB's, and still ended up with a guy I think has a shot at the top 5 (Campbell). Finally, I have a decent number of high upside guys tucked away on my bench. Derrick Henry, Tajae Sharpe, Sammie Coates, and Dorial Green Beckham all have the potential to break out a bit, and be ranked much higher than their draft slot. Hopefully one or two work out and become useful pieces. If not, that's why they are bench players. Finally, I was so successful on holding off on kicker runs, that I didn't even draft one :)

2. What were your favorite picks? Which do you wish you could do over?

Before the draft, I had no intention on taking Elliott in the first round. Loved his potential, just thought there was no way he would fall to the 10th pick. When he was there for me, I jumped at him. Perhaps people were scared off by the Romo injury and what that would do to the Dallas offense, however McFadden was great last year after Romo went down, and Elliott should be much more talented than McFadden. Also, Dak Prescott has looked good in the preseason, and can't be much worse than the garbage that Dallas threw out there at QB last season, and since Prescott brings a running game to the position it could open up more runs and underneath throws to Elliott. There's a fair amount of risk in the pick, as there is with any early RB, but I'm loving the pick so far.

Other than that, I think a lot of my picks were quality but safe. Don't "love" many of them, but like all of them. Taking Tajae Sharpe in the 12th round seemed like the right time to jump on a good looking rookie, and I can see a scenario where Derrick Henry ends up taking over for Gore as my RB2. Henry has looked great in the preseason and should have plenty of opportunities in TEN.

The only pick I really wish I could have done over is Keuchly at 4.05. I love Keuchly and am happy to have him on my team, but I think I went a bit too early. I may not have gotten him at 5.10, but I'm pretty sure I could have had at least LaVonte David. I would have preferred Hyde/David in rounds 4/5 over Keuchly/Gore, at least at this point, we'll see how the season shakes out. Only other pick I regret was taking Laurinaitis in the 19th round, right after I took Davis. I botched the MFL queue system, and took back to back LB's when I didn't need to. Not sure who I would have rather had, and I doubt it will hurt me.

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)?

I haven't had the chance to go team by team, but SwingandaMiss must have been playing from the same draft sheet that I was, as he nabbed several of players I wanted, one pick before I was up. Keenan Allen, Alshon Jeffrey, and Carlos Hyde were all queued up, but he got all three. He also did a good job grabbing DeAngelo to start while LaVeon Bell is suspended and should have a good season.

4. What surprised you most about the draft?

Not too much... seemed very similar to other RIFC drafts other than WR's went much earlier than in years past, and QB's and TE's went much later, all very expected.

5. If you could start over, would you do anything differently?

Not really, I would have waited one round on Keuchly, and possibly jumped in on QB a bit earlier. I think Rivers and Fitzpatrick are a fine combo, but there were plenty of QB's I liked better.

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?
I really should of thought this through before going into the draft. This was the first time drafting in this position and I felt uncomfortable the whole time. For several years in RIFC I've picked the #1/#2 slot and did well there. Trying to get a feel on how the draft would go from the #14 just never came to me, I even tried to adjust it some with my picks. With all that being said, I look at my team and other then the uncertainty of Jamaal, I'm ok with it.

2. What were your favorite picks? Which do you wish you could do over?
Favorite pick, hmmm, not sure I have one really.. I definitely like Sammy Watkins for many reasons, I think Duke Johnson might be a surprise this year... I keep picking Chris Conley in leagues because I think he has a lot of potential. He blew up combine with his numbers, just need A. Smith to notice him more.

Worse pick.... Jamaal Charles, damn, damn and damn...

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)?

I have Guru, Doug, TWilson and Slackjawed in my Top 4.

4. What surprised you most about the draft?
I'm not sure anything surprised me about the draft... I probably surprised some on when I took players here and there... but nothing jumped out at me. I'm sure something happened in the very early rounds and I was like, damn, should of grabbed him.

I think what always surprises me year after year, is how big of a roster we carry in this league. I sort of actually enjoy working the waiver wires. I guess you still can, but throwing players in and out add a bit of enjoyment for me.

5. If you could start over, would you do anything differently?

Hell yah, I wouldn't even looked at Jamaal Charles... blah..

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?

I've usually drafted from the back end, so picking at #2 was a bit of a change. I do like picking near the ends, so that I can plan my picks in pairs.

I took the #2 pick so that I'd get either the top WR or the top RB, figuring that Gurley would be the one to fall to me. He was.

After that, my tendency is generally to react to what's happening. RIFC leagues tend to pay up for RBs, so I often end up going for WRs early - which is one reason why an early Gurley was appealing.

I didn't necessarily target Russell Wilson, but at pick 3.13 it just seemed like the thing to do.

2. What were your favorite picks? Which do you wish you could do over?

Not sure about my Arian Foster/Jay Ajayi tandem. Foster fell to 7.02, when I still needed my RB2. I thought this had lots of upside and downside, and decided that I should target Ajayi as a handcuff sooner than later. Getting Ajayi in round 9 seem to put me a bit behind for quite awhile thereafter. In particular, I delayed longer on IDP that I normally prefer.

I do think my Dion Lewis pick in round 16 could be a nice coup if he returns by the time Foster gets injured.

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)?

Because they were picking around me, I think twilson and Slackjawed Yokel picked well. Beyond that, it's tough for me to assess.

4. What surprised you most about the draft?

Nothing, other than the very slow start. That pushed some meaningful picks to later in the week, when I was traveling and less able to react to the latest developments.

5. If you could start over, would you do anything differently?

Probably not

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?
I had planned to take RB/WR in first two rounds as in previous years and usually offensive players in the first 5 or 6 rounds. Things went pretty much as planned except took RB/RB in first 2 rounds.

2. What were your favorite picks? Which do you wish you could do over? Favorite pick: Devonta Freeman if he can stay healthy as did not expect to get him in second round. If I had to do over would have waited until last round for PK as the book says to do. I missed a couple of players I could have taken with subsequent picks.

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)? It was hard to decide so I think it will be very competitive this year. I like Slackjawed Yokel, Twilson, and Jaydog teams.

4. What surprised you most about the draft?
It seemed to drag in a few spots and I could not wait to get it done. Maybe it was the holiday and having family in town. Normally it is one of the most engaging parts of the fantasy process.

5. If you could start over, would you do anything differently?
I liked my early round picks but probably would have taken a different set of receivers after my first WR.

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?

RBs are always drafted earlier than where I like them, so I figured I would be choosing from the #15-35 range. That turned out pretty much as expected. If anything, I took Forte earlier than I thought I would take an RB.

I felt like this year I could wait forever on QB and TE: with absurdly deep 2nd tiers plus our large benches and rosters, I liked the idea of getting two late round options and either having somebody pop or playing matchups. I thought that I executed that well and gave myself upside and stability in both positions.

That meant I expected to get my WRs out of the way early. This was a good fit for me because I had been heavily reliant on return yards in AAA, and they aren’t as easy to poach here (and might be fading in importance anyway with new kickoff rules). After Julio, I took riskier players than I usually do with Baldwin/Gordon/Steve Smith.

I wanted to get a jump on IDPs (particularly DL/LB) since I think they’re still given the least focus of all relevant positions. I still hadn’t been planning or expecting to take one in the 2nd round. I’m very happy with the upside of my DL/LB: we’ll see how DB pans out.

2. What were your favorite picks? Which do you wish you could do over?

I feel like I got great value with Josh Gordon (WR #32), Jimmy Graham (TE #11), Marcus Mariota (QB #14), Matt Ryan (QB #18), Jason Pierre-Paul (DL #20), DeAndre Washington (RB #48), and CJ Spiller (RB #66).

I’m not happy about Forsett, obviously. Besides that, I don’t think there’s much of a chance of Julio Jones finishing the year 4th overall and I’m not fully comfortable with Matt Forte in the 3rd round (even if I like him as RB #15).

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)?

TD could be scary good in the 2nd half of the season. If Gary Barnidge is for real, Guru will be tough to beat. SteelerG and 6 SBs is starting 2 DT and owns two kickers, and I don’t like any of their RBs, but I still like their team. Twilson’s team looks fearsome if the QB/TE works out. Aussie Diamondbacks could have a killer offense, though I’m skeptical about the IDPs.

4. What surprised you most about the draft?

Only 7 of the first 15 picks were RBs. I agree with that prioritization, but I wasn’t expecting it given how RB-heavy past years have been.

5. If you could start over, would you do anything differently?

I wonder how my team would look if I had taken Rawls instead of Forte. I do value reliability in the first few rounds, but since we only start 2 RBs, it might have been better to go with the upside. The Forte/Rawls decision will probably look either really good or really bad by midseason.

I emailed twelves early in the draft about the fact that based on the number of teams and number of players this league should really only start one RB and one RB/WR flex. This would make it more realistic to NFL play (one RB playing per down) and it would eliminate that injury challenge. No other position is as void of talent if u have an in season injury as RB.

Of course I jinxed myself as all of my RBs got injured(top two out for the year early on). I chose to bid the bulk of my free agent money on RBs that had 0 point averages because that was only 3 points less than the best free agent on the market. Yes 0 was only 3 points less. Getting 5-6 points most likely would not win s game.

This is certainly not a threat because as a group nobody cares if I play but if there not a rule change that limits the number of running backs rostered to 4 or RB s started to 1 I will be done after this year. There is nothing on the line (no $) for this league so if u have an injury or two and there are no free agents to add regardless of how much money u have then there becomes no incentive to set a line up on a weekly basis.

I made sure I kept non bye and non injured players active in my line up but the game ended several weeks ago when Anderson and wood head went down and the roster rules create a void of recovery.

Hopefully the rules change for 2017/2018. If not. Best wishes to all

SteelerG - I understand the frustration with losing two RBs to injury.

We have put this issue to a vote several times in the past, and the consensus has always been to retain two starting RB with no limit on roster spots. But we can certainly bring this up again next year.

I'm curious why you would have started the two RB you did this week while leaving a viable RB like Sproles on your bench. Looks like a "statement" move.

Admittedly, your week #13 game against me had no playoff implications, but your game against Philly Busters potentially did. And you are still in contention for a playoff spot. Why apparently tank?

If my math is correct, here's the standings for final two spots heading into tonight's game:

1703.16 + B Marshall (twilson)
1677.78 + nobody (SteelerG)
1675.82 + D'Q Jackson (Doug)
1667.6 + R Fitzpatrick (Swingandamiss)
1625.42 + Leonard Williams (Aussie)

twilson is probably in... Aussie is probably out.. and Swing and/or myself will likely pass SteelerG (no guarantees there though).

But probably comes down to (D'Qwell Jackson + 8.22 points) vs. Ryan Fitzpatrick for the last spot... unless both players have pretty bad fantasy nights and SteelerG holds on to the last spot.

Seedings have been set.

Championship bracket includes the top 6 teams by W/L, plus the other two teams with the most points. In this case, Doug took the last playoff spot.

Remember also that the top four seeds are set by W/L record, but the other four teams are seeded by points.

Blind bid dollars have been adjusted. The #1 seed gets an extra $16, #2 gets $14, etc.

Blind bidding is pushed back to 3pm ET Thursdays, to make sure that stat corrections have been processed and any seeding or team advancement is updated before bidding proceeds.

FCFS starts at 6pm ET Thursday.

Teams that are no longer active in the championship bracket are prohibited from any further add/drop transactions.

I have set up a consolidation bracket for the bottom six teams. Advancing teams from week #14 are the three game winners plus the loser with the most points scored. Nothing is on the line, other than pride.

Good luck in the playoffs to everyone... historically the #1 overall seed has been a curse to my team, I believe losing in the first round every time.

Don't love the matchup against Doug, who gets to start David Johnson and Melvin Gordon, along with Cam who should be playing with a chip on his shoulder after his benching last week.

Had SteelerG not "tanked" his last two weeks, I'd likely be playing him as he missed out on the last playoff spot by 1 point.

I thought the lower ranking team acquired the player in blind bidding if the same amount was bid.
I bid for a player and another team got that player for what I thought I had bid.

In the playoffs, the tiebreaker priority favors the better seed.

It's in the rules.

The rationale was that it was a form of "home field advantage". But applies only during playoffs.

Consolation bracket was rearranged for the second round. This was done in order to avoid a repeat matchup - since the first round loser with the best score advances, along with the three winners.
