21.09 WIll Witherspoon LB TEN

In the IDP list from FFToday, he was ranked the #33/35 LB and projects to about 115 points as the #1 OLB. I did prefer Matthews, but he was scooped up in 21.08 by mjd. When he was picked up by the Eagles last season when they tried to plug the hole left by Bradley’s injury, he did a good fantasy job. With him and Tulloch on the corners, I am hoping for lots of tackles. If he stinks it up, I will dump him in a heartbeat! I also had to be aware of the bye weeks as a lot of my players will be on bye week 8, so that did begin to limit my choices somewhat.

22.06 Miami Dolphins DST

I needed a bye week (8) fill in for my Iggles DST. The Miami DST is ranked in the top 15 in the cheatsheets I use. (OK, so they are 14, 14 and 15 -- it’s still “Top 15” :-). It was a toss up between Miami and Indy. Miami plays at Cincy and Indy is a home v Houston on Monday night week 8. We shall see who does better. Both Houston and Cincy have the potential to “air it out” and cost me a boatload… Oh, well.

23.09 Patrick Chung DB NEP

I needed another IDP with a bye week that worked for me. A second year man, here is what MFL says:
Chung is way out in front of James Sanders and Brandon McGowan in the battle to line up next to Brandon Meriweather. The No. 34 overall pick in the 2009 draft is an excellent tackler and is officially on the radar as an IDP sleeper. We all know that tackles translate into points: prediction is 87 TK, 26 ATK for a total of about 100 points --works for me. We shall see. There are plenty of undrafted DB out there if he does poorly.

24.06 Anthony Dixon RB SF

I had a lot of ways to go with my final pick, but I decided another RB would not hurt as there are plenty of IDP’s if I need one later on. Dixon has had a good preseason and if Gore goes down, I think he will beat out Westie for the job. (It breaks my heart to have to say that…)

21.04 Anthony Spencer, LB, DAL

If anyone in this draft is under-rated, it's him. He's not even listed on some draft boards and may have gone undrafted had I not snagged him, but I'm not taking any chances by waiting too late. One board had him as the 48th best LB. Only one site I found gives him any credit at all--ranking him at 21.

This guy got a chance to play last year and scored 6.5 sacks and 2 FF in the last six games. He is a starter and has Ware on the other side of the field to draw attention away from him. Low risk-high reward.

22.11 Colts Def, IND

Well, not thrilled with this pick. Had others in mind, but who knows. I read somewhere this team gives up less than 20 points/game the last three seasons. It seems most sites use D/ST ranking where the Colts aren't good at all lately. The Colts are one of the fastest Ds in the league, but that means they don't have the girth to stop the run--giving up about 125 yds/game. They don't tackle particularly well normally either. But getting Sanders back and bringing in their 1st round pick to shire up the dline--you'd think they'd be improved this season. The Colts powerful air attack sometimes means the D has to be on the field more to give up more points. If Addai can do some work this year, the D will benefit. I'm not holding my breath, but I'd rather go with a D that's left that had some nice upside.

23.04 Bo Scaife, TE, TEN

This guy seemed like the best TE left for my bye week. When reading about him, it seems they are going to try and use him a lot more this season. Avg 50 catches a season and he's been hurt. Had 40 after he came back last season and he's 100% healthy supposedly. What that means? Who knows? He is pretty high on himself for this year, but I've never read anyone say that I'm going to stink this season!

24.11 Josh Freeman, QB, TB

Well I had planned to gamble on Derek Anderson here. Everyone but me had two QBs from many many many rounds ago--but low and behold someone took a third QB three or four rounds ago. But in the end, it's prob. not a big deal at all. As I said before, if Eli stinks or goes down, my season could be flushed right down with him. Not expecting miracles out of Freeman, but he does have upside and he IS the starting QB and the face of the franchise. He's shown some nice flashes that have really impressed. His receiving corps won't scare anyone though and he may have some issues getting his numbers. This guy could be widely coveted at some point, but for my drafting purposes, he'll start in week 8.

21.03 Carolina Panthers, DEF

I needed a second defense here, and there was amazingly quite a bit to choose from. I had the Panthers a bit ahead of the others left but in the end DEF is kind of a crapshoot anyways. Bears/Panthers should be a pretty good combo either way.

22.12 Matt Prater, K DEN

I looked up and suddenly realized were nearing then end of the draft I didn't have a kicker. I totally forgot! I usually like to be the first to get one - which is probably a silly thing to do. I really wanted Rob Bironas this year, as that guy's leg is phenomenal and the big money is in the 50+'ers. Even so, there were still quite a few good kickers left so I took Prater, who was excellent last year and has a pretty decent leg himself. And he's helped by the thin air here in Denver.

23.03 Ndamukong Suh, DL DET

I always like to have a backup DL cuz those guys get hurt alot. Suh is a rookie and a top draft pick. Rookie DL's always seem to have their struggles, but I am hoping by week 8 he will have his feet under him and will be a decent fill in for Peppers.

24.12 Jerious Norwood, RB ATL

The only backup RB I could find left on the board. He's pretty good when given the ball, and like I said, you can never have enough RB's.

21.13 Damian Williams, WR, Ten

Who?

The rookie is to be the Titans’s return man for both punts and kickoffs this season. All-Pac 10 punt returner. Eric Weems type, plus there is an intriguing possibility of some participation in the offence; in his last preseason game he caught 4 balls for 40 yards; he is described as a “project” at WR, on a team weak at the position.

For some reason I latched on this guy as my sleeper and determined to get him. Not drafted in any other RIFC league if I searched right. Could be a big steal; could end up being cut as soon as I need a roster spot.

22.02 Toby Gerhart, RB, Min

I like to collect RBs but by this point there wasn’t much left that I wanted to take a flyer on. Only 3 were chosen after him. Gerhart’s selling point is that if something happens to Peterson, the rookie is expected to jump in and be the #1 back on a very good offensive team. Good pass catcher.

23.13 Devery Henderson, WR, NO

Deep threat, one of New Orleans’ stable of receivers behind Colston, could put up some stats if a couple of Saints receivers go down.

24.02 Justin Smith, DL, SF

The rules require that we start someone at the position of DL. If you don’t your lineup will be ineligible and you will score zero points for the week, which would virtually ensure a loss. Rankings I respect put him at #10 and #11, pretty good for a 24th round draft choice. Optimists expect more sack opportunities this year because the 49ers will be better and their opponents will be throwing more.

21.12 Rob Bironas, K TEN
A number of kickers were already drafted, and I wanted to get a top one before they were all gone. Bironas has been a consistent kicker and a top 10 fantasy kicker the last 3 years.

22.03 Jordan Babineaux, DB SEA
Babineax had a strong fantasy season last year playing FS for Seattle. He has battled 37 year old Lawyer Molloy for the the starting SS spot this season with rookie Earl Thomas playing FS. I am betting on Babineaux to win the SS job. Otherwise I will find a replacement.

23.12 Darnell Dockett, DL ARI
I got Dockett to use as a backup at DL. Not top DL numbers, but good enough to fill in during a bye week.

24.03 Jason Avant, WR PHI
Being and Eagles fan, I wanted to pick another Eagle with my last pick. Avant is the the third receiver on a team the passes most of the time. I heard an interview with Eagles broadcaster Merrill Reese, and he mentioned that he thought Avant could have a big season.

21.02 RIFC Bound- WAS DEF
Just like the last pick, I wasn’t feeling well and I made this pick just based on my cheat sheet. I do like the Washington D this year, particularly if Haynesworth can get on board. If that happens, they could be very solid.

22.13 RIFC Bound- Antwan Randle-el WR PIT
At this point I was looking for the best available remaining players. With possible gadgets, returns and a thin WR corp, I like Randle-el as a late round flyer. Obviously his value goes up once big ben comes back, but I expect they’ll knock his suspension down to 4 games.

23.02 RIFC Bound- Greg Camarillo Min WR
I figured a late flyer on Camarillo was a good choice. I saw his last pre season game and Farve looked comfortable throwing to him. Given Rice’s injury and Harvin’s penchant for migraines, I’m hoping Camarillo can sneak in to a nice 3rd WR role in this offense.

24.13 RIFC Bound- Jay Feely K ARI

Jay is a kicker. I needed a kicker.

21.10 Javon Walker WR (at the time)MIN
Seemed like a good pickup at the moment to help offset the Rice loss, but has since been cut and I'll need to do some reacearch to try and find a FA that might help my woeful recieving corps.

22.05 Jonathan Dwyer RB PIT
Just a late round flyer that likely won't have much value without an injury. (Would have probably picked up Camarillo at this spot if I had known Waler wasn't going to pan out.)

23.10 James Jones WR GB
Again wanted to try to help my WRs.With GB's wide open offense, he may actually have some value.

24.05 Dan Carpenter K MIA.
He went to the University of Montana (my alma mater)in my home town and I have watched him play there and have met him. So since I need a Kicker He will be fun to cheer for.

21.06 Adan Viniteri, K, IND
Saw Viniteri still available and decided to fill the dreaded K position. With Indy he should put up decent numbers at least and at best could return to his pre-injury status of a top 5 scorer.
22.09 Derek Anderson,QB, ARI
I had a real weak backup in Cassel so with Leinart getting demoted I thought it was a good time to take a shot and see if Anderson can get the ball to Fitzgerald.
23.06 Todd Heap, TE, Bal
Decided a solid backup at TE would serve me well at this point. I’m really lacking bench at IDP spots but one more pick to go and I have always had good luck picking up some guys in season for IDP fillers.
24.09 Charles Tillman, DB, Chi
Tillman looked as good as any. He has solid tackle numbers and possible upside.

21.01 Darrius Heywood-Bey, WR, Oak-I still needed another WR . Chaz Schilens had knee surgery making Heywood-Bey Oakland’s #1 WR and a good pick at 21.01.

22.14 John Abraham, DE, Atl-I thought that 2009 was an aberration , and that Abraham will regain his 2008 form.

23.01 Richard Marshall, CB, CAR-Darrell Revis was still holding out, and I needed a DB to complete my starting lineup if Revis was unavailable to start the season.

24.14 MR. IRRELEVANT, TED GINN, JR., WR, SF
-Ginn may prove to be relevant in Fantasy Football this year because he will be returning punts as well being the #3 WR for SF.
