For all who did not follow the discussion, the rules were tweaked this year. Per the RIFC thread............
Rules for 2011, as amended by league vote. Changes from 2010 are shown in italics.
I also added a section on position eligibility. This is not a change in rules, but merely defines our traditional league practice - and was inadvertently omitted from prior rule listings.
Draft
“Banzai” format: Same as a traditional snake, except the third round is reversed. Thus, the team with the first overall pick has the last pick in rounds 2, 3, and 4.

Unlisted players
During the draft, any player may be drafted, regardless of whether or not the player is listed at the hosting game site. Once the draft is completed, unlisted players may not be added to any roster. This applies for any post-draft waiver processing as well.
In the event that a drafted player is not listed after the draft has completed, a placeholder player will be assigned to the drafting team, to be replaced by the drafted player as soon as he is available.
Position eligibility
Except as defined below, a player's position eligibility will be that assigned by the league hosting site.
If a player is listed at one position when drafted and that position is subsequently changed by the hosting site, the manager drafting that player may elect to retain the original position. In this event, that player will keep the drafted position eligibility until he is dropped or traded, at which time the eligibility will revert to the hosting system's default position.
Priority Claiming
All free agents (any players not on a current roster) are subject to a weekly claiming process at noon on Wednesday. Following each of the first 6 weeks of the season, the priorities will reset weekly based on the reverse of W/L percentage (with applicable tiebreakers). After that, priorities will not be reset during the regular season. Throughout the season, when a player is claimed, the claiming team moves to the end of the claiming priority list. Following the final regular season game, priorities will be reset based on playoff seed, with the top seed getting the top priority. Thereafter, throughout the playoffs, priorities will again adjust only when a claim is awarded.
Starting at 3:00pm on each Wednesday, all free agents may be picked up by any team "first come, first served" without any change in priority status. Dropped players will be subject to a one day waiver period, subject to processing rules administered at the hosting site. Managers may not “cycle” though a series of free agents solely for the purpose of blocking them from availability. In such instances, the Commissioner will take appropriate corrective action.
Immediately following the draft, undrafted players will be subject to a priority claiming process, with priorities equal to the reverse of the first round draft order.
Starting five minutes prior to the scheduled start of each NFL game, no player in that game may be dropped, regardless of whether the player is an active or bench player.
Schedule
13 week round robin
Doubleheaders all weeks 1-13 (play each team twice)
Single elimination playoffs, weeks 14-16
Trades and trade deadline
During the draft, trades may include draft picks. Trades will normally be approved immediately by the Commissioner, assuming they are reasonably balanced. If league managers believe an announced trade is unbalanced, they should protest the trade ASAP.
After the draft, trades will be subject to a review period. For the first 24 hours following a trade, managers may protest a trade by posting a message at the RotoGuru forum, or by sending an email to the Commissioner. If at least 3 managers protest a trade within 24 hours of its announcement, then all managers will be polled within the next 24 hours. If seven or more managers vote to veto a trade, then it will not be approved. If a proposed trade is announced less than 24 hours before the earliest freeze for any player involved, then the entire trade will not be processed until the following week.
If a trade does not receive at least 3 protests, then it will be effective 24 hours after it is announced. If a trade receives at least 3 protests but the protests are not upheld in a full league vote, then the trade will be processed 48 hours after it is announced.
The trade deadline is the weekend following the final week with byes.
Stat corrections
Official stat corrections will be automatically applied. This typically happens on Thursday morning. In the playoffs, this can lead to an issue if a team is suddenly “back in the game”, but that team was unable to make roster moves the prior day. If a stat correction changes a playoff matchup at the last minute, then any impacted team will be given the opportunity to make a last minute roster move, if needed. The Commissioner will attempt to ensure that this provision is enabled as fairly as possible under the circumstances.
During the playoffs, once the first game of the week has started, no stat corrections will be allowed thereafter.
Playoffs
8 teams, single elimination
The 8 teams will be those with the top 6 W/L records plus the two other teams with the most points
The top four seeds will be based on W/L record (including applicable tiebreakers)
Seeds 5-8 will be based on total points for the other four playoff teams
Teams with equivalent W/L records are ranked based on head-to-head first (regardless of the number of teams tied), then total points.
Bracket is fixed (no reseeding after each round)
Players at the primary skill positions (QB, RB, WR) and team defenses may not be added for any reason during the playoffs. Free agents at these positions will be locked out after the final regular season game. You may drop a player at one of these positions, but once dropped, that player cannot be added later.
Players at the other positions (TE, PK, IDP) may be added or dropped according to normal regular season guidelines, subject to playoff claiming priorities, if applicable.
If a playoff game ends in a tie score, the team with the better seed shall advance.
Teams which are not still active in the Championship playoffs may not make any transactions - adds or drops - even if they are still competing in the Consolation bracket. |

For those that aren't aware, I no longer have any access at all during the day once I head to work.
Assume 7AM to 5PM PDT I won't be able to get on.
Won't be an issue once we start the draft, as will be able to set queues just fine.

It's not easy to find stuff at MFL. You go to the very top under communications, and then there is polls.
There's starting the draft and then there's starting the clock. If people want to go ahead and make their pick, I don't see why we don't get some of them out of the way. If you don't want to pick....don't pick. The draft really starts when the clock starts.

boy, this MFL tool is really challenging to use. All of the links are buried and they aren't intuitive to me. also be careful with your queue's for your upcoming picks... i saw a player i wanted and changed one pick.... and then it autopicked my 2nd pick (I obviously didn't want Rivers)...
I'm probably not going to use that feature again so I don't get burned!

You may be able to change it, if you picked Rivers by accident. Especially before taxman picks. The commissioner can probably fix it.

If you properly use queues, you won't have issues. That's a case of user error. MFL has instructions on the draft page for queues and has a help link you can check out. Straight from the draft page:
Hint: Did you know pre-draft picks are selected for you as soon as it's your turn to pick in the draft? For more details, please see our Help Center!
MFL has a lot on it, and if you're brand new, it'll take some getting used to. But it isn't that hard to pick it up, and once you do it's extremely good. No other league site can touch MFL's flexibility.

<66> GL At the top of the page under "FOR OWNERS" Select "Draft" and it will give you the queue for your next pick and so on. You'll have to add players for each round and save the round to get to the next one, unless they changed and allow you to carry them over (which I doubt)
Sort by position, Team, personal rankings, The defaut is all players in alpha order like Yahoo,
Later, you can go back in and add players to each round by the same way IIRC, Hope this helps...ds

Will let me change Rounds, but no matter which round I am in, it'll show under show Only: All with the lower drop down showing: Select a player
When I try the drop down, I get nothing there
If I change to RB or another position, the lower drop down shows None

There's only about 4 senarios, Taxman switches to Rivers, I switch or stick, B7's pick, & you unless B7 takes MJD & then Titans's repick. Maybe a 4 player queue. It's better than timing out. Or can you get a text?

WAIT , B7 got screwed on his clock! The draft stil needs to be stopped. He was skipped after Jullian was allowed to change his pick from Philip Rogers to Matt Forte sometime last night and the draft should have stopped then due to the ramifications of allowing a "Mulligan" after the draft had started,

Goatlocker - I'd rather wolfer handle your queue as we draft so close to each other and know each others draft habits. I'm already getting hammered by B7 & Taxman. I'd use it to keep you from timing out, but that's about it.

The RIFC draft does not officially start until Wednesday. Early picks are permitted, but not expected. The clock will be set at 6 hours and will be active on Wednesday morning, with a moratorium from 1am-7am EDT. Please note: The clock will continue to run on weekends.
#43 Per the poll we start when the RIFC starts. However if people want to make picks beforehand, I will make my first pick today.

This draft order looks messed up. the 4th round should have LaJollan first and wolfer last. Compare to RIFC. Only the 3rd round should change. Rounds 5 and on are backwards also.

I suspect the simplest way to "fix this is to delete all 4th round picks, and then add a 25th round.
The only other ways I can see to do it are to manually switch every pick from rounds 4-24, or to wipeout the draft and reload from scratch. Neither seems appealing.

Email was just sent to everyone in the league. Here is what it says:We discovered this morning that the draft order was improperly set up for rounds 4-24. Each of those rounds was reversed from the intended order.
Here is how we have corrected this:
1. Round 4 has been effectively been deleted. You will move directly from round 3 to round 5.
2. All queues that had been set for round 4 have been copied to round 5. Ditto for all future round queues. Note: I did this, rather than wolfer, since I am not drafting in your league.
3. A 25th round was added.
Therefore, your draft will still have 24 rounds, numbered, 1-3 & 5-25. You'll just need to make the transformation for your own records.
The only alternatives seemed to be:
A. Manually change every picker from rounds 4-24. In addition to being very tedious, that would have likely produced errors, as there is no shortcut way to do that once the draft has started. - OR -
B. Wipeout the draft, reload the order correctly, and then go back and manually input the actual picks for the first 3 rounds.
Neither of those alternatives was appealing.
Everything has already been reset, so when round 3 is complete, you'll immediately jump to round 5, which is in the proper order for the true round 4. Carry on! (Thankfully, this was detected before the start of round 4. Since this is a AAA league with all managers having participated before, I assume you were all aware of the intended order from the start.)

I had Hester rated a little lower. The computer is going to do what it's told to do. Hester must have been at the top of one of your q's. There's a round specific q , and a q that waits for the time limit to expire before it picks. I don't really understand it, but I'm usually around to pick. One of the q's is more important than the other.

FYI - If you copy one round's queue to the next round's queue, you have to be careful how you move players around. I moved a player 1 slot lower than the bottom & it put that player at the top of my queue and vice-versa with the top ranked going to the bottom if I put him 1 above the top spot tabbing him up.
It's like a ferris wheel in relation to the queue, it's circular and not linear. Found that out adjusting players for different position picks in different rounds. Not a good thing to do when sleepy.
Not sure this helps now gurudan . I just saw it for the first time yesterday. I don't think we could copy queues last year, so it never came up, but you typed in a lot player names for each round. I like the copy queue function a lot better with a quirk. Of course I didn't read anything about the new stuff until B7 told me I could get a cell call when I'm about to be up and still haven't got that right, but I do have Donny ;) (I know typical male, I can hear Judy now lol)

I spoke to soon. At 3:30 AM (EDT) 2 very large trees fell on my house damaging the roof causing water to pour in. The police made us evacuate, and we are now at a hotel. Thank goodness we are all ok. My Internet access will be spotty today, but l'll do my best. My wife has told me that my priorities are off and that I am more concerned about the draft than the house. She is wrong of course, but she has never understood my love of fantasy sports.

In addition to the trade I just made, I have another offer out there made earlier this week.
Be nice if it was even acknowledged. If it's unsatisfactory, either counter or just decline it.
I revoked the first offer and submitted another more favorable one. See if they are paying attention or just bagged on us.

mjd.... I saw a revoked trade you made to me but I did not get a second one. I am presently working in Eastern Mt. and N.D.in the oilfields and have extremely limited internet or cell access.
I do have single digit temps with 20-30 mph winds and worked inside only for 8 of my 65hrs last week; but I do like the money;-)
Anyway if your trade offer was to me please resend and I will take a look at it. I'm going home for a week tomorrow so after that I should be Around more for next week. Thanks

I think I accepted a trade with mjd through the email link. i don't feel like I should be accepting any trades with me clearly out of the playoffs. Please void this trade and i will try and find a QB for this week.
I'm sorry for not having a full roster this week, I've had a family member in the hospital the last monh and have not been focused on my team like i should have. If that gets me banned from future RIFC like mjd has suggested then so be it.

Jaydog-Good luck in the final game, although comparing our 2 teams, I do not think you need it.I have both Manning and Sanchez, and fully realize why one should not draft a player from your team if you are an avid fan. I should start Sanchez, but I cannot bring myself to root against the Giants. My hope is that the Jets will do to their fans what they always do, disappoint.

Strange how things work out. It took a garbage time TD to Myles Austin as well as Jaydog not scoring 198 points as he did in the 1st round for me to win. Thanks to the league for a great season and to Wolfer for taking the time to commish. Congrats to fear the monkey and OCHO CINCO on moving up in 2012.
