Everyone should be receiving an email to join the league. If you don't receive one, please let me know. |

Ok, how do I change the pictures for my profile? On the home page I have black and white picture of what looks like an old telephone switchboard or a very early computer. When I click on my profile it brings up an old time photo of a group of people gathered up that reminds me of the one Jack Nicholson was in at the end of the Shining.

If you go to the login page from the email you got, you should see something like:
Now that you have successfully logged in, please take some time to customize your own personal information and familiarize yourself with the site:
Change your password, enter your franchise information, your wireless information, your other contact information, and customize your franchise with logos, icons and even sounds!
Customize is the link you want -- first item there asks for Franchise Icon URL -- pick the picture you want from the web, and badabing, badaboom, there you go.

What, roughly, is the timeline for getting things started as far as draft/etcetera? Not being pushy, I know that some rules issues need to be resolved by the main league, just sort of want to plan my life a bit.

I am still waiting for one person to join the league. When he joins, we will start the draft order selection process. I haven't received our drafting site information yet. I think Guru said about starting towards the end of August. So we will probably begin around the same time the main league does. I will keep everyone informed as we go.
If you have any questions, you can post them here or send me an email.
-email is probably the best bet as they go straight to my cell phone.

In order to start the draft selection process, I need two lists of numbers 1-14. Please send them to my email. I will use the first two I receive.
Upjgrad@gmail.com
Once I get the lists, we can start the selection process.
Thanks.

This is the order at which we pick from among the open draft order spots (except Smith 32, who will be assigned the last open slot). The final filled-in order will be our snake draft positions.

Interesting that the #11 slot was the last one selected in our league, but the second one selected in the RIFC. I guess that is the beauty of bonzai in that there is no consensus on which slot is best or worst.

Yes we are. We will start our draft around the time RIFC starts theirs. Is that alright?
Do we want to start with a clock or go until the draft slows down then implement one?

33 | DWetzel

I'd start with a clock, but make it a longish one (6 hours, with a nighttime shutoff?), and adjust the time down as needed later in the draft if it seems like it's not proceeding fast enough.
Hopefully people will use queues enough that the clock is a non-issue.

I would like to wait til after third preseason game is over to start the draft. I believe that's the game where starters would play the most. That would start the draft on august 27th. I would probably start the draft with clock on to keep it moving.
What do people think of this?
|
36 | dpr
ID: 9513258 Thu, Aug 16, 2012, 22:18

That would give us only 9 days before the start of the season which seems real tight. I think its possible to do the draft in a week as MFL seems to run faster then drafttime but that doesnt leave any room for error or for waivers before the season.

Damoose for example in the draft you ran last year and that I was in, we started on the 23rd and ended the 2nd which is around when we would need this draft to finish to be read for the 5th. One AAA started the 18th and finished the 1st (altho wasnt in the second until the 22nd). The other started the 20th and ended on the 3rdish. RIFC started the 23rd and ended the 30th. Based on precedent I would think we would need to be looking to move things up several days

Wow -- you guys are really rushing it. Even the keeper leagues are not beginning until the 23rd!
I suspect that is the soonest we (AAA#2) would start, although one can always open it unofficially for those who just cannot wait!!
I agree that aug 27 is late, but MFL runs really fast -- be careful how you set your Q as there is no delay option as in drafttime.
I'll follow along to see what you are doing...we haven't really discussed it yet. I used to like to be first, but now I want to see who other leagues are choosing in case it influences my choices...

I dont generally run ques, more than the current pick in length. Nor, do I have a history of holding up a draft. (I dont think anyway. lol)
So when you say opening it up for those who want to set up a que BUT not starting a clock until the 27th, if twilson made a pick on the 22nd, it would go thru and the draft proceed, right?

As agreed by RIFC, the initial waiver order is the reverse of the picking order and I have just set that. You can check it if you wish.
Blind bidding ties will be broken by this list for the two days of post draft bidding. After that the waiver order list will be turned off as ties will be broken by the standings -- worse team wins (until playoffs).

Any chance we can open it with no timer so people can start setting ques and figuring the site out?
I remember being confused by the site's draft programming last year as far as setting que's go and even when I thought I had it figured it, was still making mistakes with ques for specific rounds vs general ques.

RE 72 - I am drafting on MFL for a different league right now, and I agree, it is confusing. "My Draft List" and "Pre-Draft Picks" are different. My Draft List is only used once your time expires, whereas Pre-Draft Picks are made as soon as it is your turn. If you go to Owners -> Draft, you set your Pre-Draft Picks. If you go to Owners -> My Draft List, you set your "My Draft List". I think you can move players from your "My Draft List" into your "Pre-Draft Picks" pretty easily in the "Pre-Draft Picks" area, but you have to do it each round.
For those that are more familiar - is my summary accurate?

I have been logged in, but it isn't making a difference. Selecting "Draft" from the For Owners dropdown brings me to a screen where I can modify my pre-draft pick lists. MFL claims that any pre-draft picks are selected as soon as it is your turn to pick, but the system has yet to select for me despite having a pre-draft pick saved for round 1.
Selecting the "Draft" link on the left side of the website brings up the list of all 336 picks. I see that Sarge has made a Pre-Draft Selection, and it says "Waiting On twilson's Milchian Magicians For The Next Pick" next to my name in the 1.01 slot.

Select position of player you want it to show; Then in the middle box is a default NONE. Use the drop down, to select player name. Then, add to list.
This is how I built a pre draft list, but if it is your pick, only need to put one name in the list.
Then click SAVE AND CONTINUE
has to be a better way, but.....

Sarge, I did exactly that. For some reason, the system is not utilizing my saved player to make the pick. I remember other buttons being available to me last year. I'm wondering if maybe there is something that the commissioner needs to unlock for the draft to kick into action; if the problem is just my account, I'll have to ask MFL for help.
If there is a way for the commish to pick for me, please take Arian Foster - RB, HOU so that we can move on while the problem gets addressed.

Lets address this before it gets to me. I seems to be having the same problem TWilson is. I am NOT getting the screen sarge is describing which I remember from last year. I am seeing a list of the draft slots with an option to view it in grid format. I cannot find any other draft options. When I go into the league on the left hand side I am clicking 'draft' under the "League" section of the left side bar.
Are we possibly not registered properly?

Nevermind, found the problem. T-wilson if you haven't figured it out try this.
At the very top of the page is a bar with a number of links. One of those is "For Owners" (yes like sarge said, but I thought he was making a statement like, "for owners you'll want to do this." as opposed to people watching the draft or assisting)
When you click on THAT link you get the option to que and make your pre-draft list. The bar is "My League" "Reports" "For Owners" "Communications" "Links" "Help"
Not the bar on t he left that says, "Draft"

When I go to draft on left column, I get the grid with all the picks.....When I go up to For Owners --> Draft, I get the ability to enter pre-draft picks.....That will stay like that unless it is your turn to draft

Khahan, I was able to submit a pre-draft list as you specify, but MFL failed to make a selection from that list for my pick. It also failed to offer a button allowing me to execute a pick manually. Hopefully this was simply a one-time problem associated with me being the first pick.

I do think that last year the draft view from the left column included links to make predraft picks and picks when you were up. It is very odd that it does not and that you have to go the top bar to make any picks

anyone wanna try and dumb it down for me? wait till the bidding period is over and pick players up on FA.
I have no clue what they're talking about either. When they were talking about bids I figured once each week we could submit:
Hey I want to bid $3 on rob deere, $5 on nolan ryan
If I'm the highest bid on each I get them and when I'm out of money I'm done getting first crack.
But it sounds as if there are a lot more layers to it than that.

If you remember from past years you would sometimes try to get multiple players for the same slot when you only wanted one. COnditional allows us to do this. FOr example I know that I will need a new LB next week due to buys. I bid $5 on my irst choice and then $4 on my second choice but only if I dont get my first choice (as I dont want 2, but know that I need to get one)

It does depend on whether we decide on conditoinal or non-conditional.
With conditional, by putting multiple bids within a round you are saying if the first one doesnt work you want to do the second. With multiple rounds you are saying you want to make an additional move. At least as I understand it.

Khahan and Smith32 has agreed to a trade.
Khahan gives up D. Murray and receives D. Sproles from Smith32.
RIFC Trade Policy is listed below..
Trades and trade deadline During the draft, trades may include draft picks. Trades will normally be approved immediately by the Commissioner, assuming they are reasonably balanced. If league managers believe an announced trade is unbalanced, they should protest the trade ASAP.
After the draft, trades will be subject to a review period. For the first 24 hours following a trade, managers may protest a trade by posting a message at the RotoGuru forum, or by sending an email to the Commissioner. If at least 3 managers protest a trade within 24 hours of its announcement, then all managers will be polled within the next 24 hours. If seven or more managers vote to veto a trade, then it will not be approved. If a proposed trade is announced less than 24 hours before the earliest freeze for any player involved, then the entire trade will not be processed until the following week.
If a trade does not receive at least 3 protests, then it will be effective 24 hours after it is announced. If a trade receives at least 3 protests but the protests are not upheld in a full league vote, then the trade will be processed 48 hours after it is announced.

Considering all the categories this league scores in (and Sproles contributes to) and the fact that a lot of people are actually down on Demarco...I admit I'm taking a chance that demarco does live up to the hype. I agree Dwetzel. I had 3 guys I was really hoping would come around. Not a single one did, though 1 of them came close.
One thing that is making me take a while is the draft list. Does anybody know of a setting I can use so that when a player is drafted he comes off of my draft list?
Its confusing trying to cross reference different sites. I'll give away my secret though because its proving to be a valuable tool for somebody with limited knowledge (especially in the defensive players). I went to yahoo, plugged in our league point systems and players and am using their points from last year plus a bit of research into injury and starting status. Its going a long way to helping me stay organized this year (as opposed to last year where I really could only draft on name recognition for many slots).

So I have set it for blind bidding waivers to begin Sunday at 2 pm and it will award players Wednesday at noon est. First come, first serve will then begin at 3 pm.
It is set up as non-conditional blind bidding waivers.
The basic explanation is that you have $100 for the year. Be careful of your budget because when your money is gone, you won't be able to participate in waivers.
I forgot my CPU at work so when I'm at work Monday. I will send out more info by email.

Some really good and really close match ups this week. Looks like I'm going 1-1. Got dpr beat, he's done with players. My last is over in 3mins and I'm up by 5 on Smith32. But he's got flacco/torrey smith going tomorrow. Even if decker gets a last minute td here I don't think it'll be enough to hold off that.
Been a good week 1. Interesting note is my somewhat maligned trade of sproles for murray...thats what is giving me the lead right now over Smith (who I treaded with).

Yeah, I saw that Smith. I hadn't even realized the game started and I was already beat. Knew that was coming though. But I'll take 1-1 to start. Newton was slow out of the gate, which surely hurt. But if he performed how I expected I don't think he would have made up the 20+ point difference over what he did score. Good match this week.

Penalizing teams for drafting well or getting lucky is what you want with worst to first waivers. Teams doing poorly have tiebreakers on bids. If you need someone, bid more. A team can start something like 0-6 (and still make the playoffs and potentially win) despite having the 3rd best score every single week, so why should they get a high priority on the top pickups the first few weeks? On the flip side, a team can have the 3rd lowest score each week and be undefeated and stand no chance later in the season and have no shot at any top pickups early. Blind bidding is fair to every single team in the league.
I'd wager if you're complaining about blind bidding, the odds are good your team is doing poorly and you lost out on key pickups because you didn't bid enough. Ryan Williams for $32 is a steal in this league setup.

no, we don't. it doesn't mean i can't voice my opinion. it takes a ton of fun out of the waiver process for me - hard enough in a big league. but then when it's all about how much you bid, and not need, it's kind of whatever.
as you said, for a keeper league it probably works so much better than for an individual season league.

"I'd wager if you're complaining about blind bidding, the odds are good your team is doing poorly and you lost out on key pickups because you didn't bid enough. "
And you would be mistaken. Poor drafting, is hardly the only reason a team could do poorly early in the season. I for one, would prefer to win a title/playoff spot in a competitive league vs one where those who needed a boost, didnt seem to catch a break getting that boost.

There's nothing stopping the teams who start poorly from grabbing the guys they need. They're at no disadvantage, but they don't have a huge advantage like they would without the blind bidding. If the top scoring team in the league wants to spend their entire $100 on one player early in the year they can, and won't be able to make any non FCFS pickups the rest of the year. If a team doing poorly also wants to spend $100 on that player, then they'll win with the tiebreaker.
The reason so many leagues use blind bidding is because it's fair to everyone. There are really no ifs ands or buts about it.
You guys should try an auction league. Obviously not the same thing as blind bid waivers, but similar in that everyone starts off exactly the same and isn't limited by draft position.

I created and commished an auction league here for years. I HAVE tried it. Look, you have oyur opinion, and as wrong as I think it is, you are entitled to it. But to create league wide parity, reverse order of standing, is the best way to do that, There are really no ifs ands or buts about it.

no, not at all. i want teams that are slow out of the gate to have a better chance of closing the gap - it's a long season, and the quicker someone falls out of contention, the more likely they're not going to bother with updating their line ups, and so forth. and that upsets the competitive balance even more.
The reason so many leagues use blind bidding is because it's fair to everyone. There are really no ifs ands or buts about it.
Ryan Williams for $32 is a steal in this league setup.
and that's one of the many reasons it's not fair to everyone. someone who hasn't done blind bidding wouldn't think 32 bucks is a steal for Ryan Williams.
as more teams slip out of contention with blind bidding in a league such as this, the managers will stop setting their line ups, and it'll make things worse.

I understand tree's points, and to a large degree I agree with them. That said, this bidding process is something everyone was aware of going into this season. Yeah, it'll be a pain to learn while doing the other things to keep the team competitive, but an argument next season about keeping or ditching it in RIFC would be most effect by those trying it out.

A starting RB available on waivers in a 14 team league where RBs are hoarded (why wasn't he rostered?) is not very common. It should be easy to see how valuable that is whether you've used blind bidding in the past or not.
If managers can't set lineups when their teams are doing poorly, they shouldn't be playing in the first place.
You guys want parity, which is ok. I don't think teams should receive help because they made bad decisions or got unlucky. It eventually happens to everyone. Why take away from the people who did make good decisions or happened to get lucky?

pretty much what sarge said. it's not taking away. can't take away what you never had.
in the interest of competitive balance, and keeping owners interested who's team's are struggling, a simple worse-to-first waiver wire is the way to go.

I like the blind bidding more. If a team drafts well or gets off to as fast start or drafts well the shouldnt be punished or have to allow the other teams to catch up to them.
And they are having something taking away. The chance at a fair shot to get the hot WW pickups. What has a struggling team done to deserve those players?

what has anyone done, to "deserve" a player. That entire argument, is ludicrous at best. FFS, this is FANTASY leagues. Parity, competitiveness is IMO, paramount Why? As Tree lluded to earlier...let 2 or 3 managers fall irrevocably behind, and where is their incentive to update their lineups every week? Result, teams playing them ate in the year, get a 'bye' vs the teams that actually had to beat them for the "W". By what 'rights;', does one team deserve 'bye' when another didnt get that same option?
Overall competitiveness, is the key. This is fantasy, not RL. No one is taking food off your table, money out of your pocket, or time away from your family.

I am saying that everyone deserves an equal chance. And that people who draft well, or get off to a hot start, deserve that advantage.
and, when, 4 weeks in - not even a quarter of the way through the season - a team starts 1-7, or 0-8, and has little or no chance of catching up because there is no waiver priority for those weaker teams, and they pack it in, what then?
it's not fun for the losing team with no chance, and it's not fun for anyone who has to play that team, or for a team that might miss a playoff slot because someone else got a free pass by playing a largely inactive team.
i get it - "let's make it fair for everyone."
but what i get more is "let's make it fun for everyone."

Continuing to ignore the fact that the 1-7 or 0-8 team still has priority on tiebreakers. You act like they are barred from picking up the top player on waivers. That and teams should never be inactive. If someone can't take the couple minutes a week to set a lineup, they shouldn't be playing in the first place and shouldn't be invited to play again. Getting top waiver dibs weekly isn't going to make it any more fun for the team that's probably finishing in last place regardless of what happens.
The logic being used here is so bad it makes me cringe. Using the example of an 0-8 team going inactive and giving 'free wins' to the teams playing them later. They're freakin 0-8, everyone who already played them got a win. Instead, you want a team who lost every game to get the top waiver pickup each week to strengthen the team and then possibly beat the teams they play later in the year using players they got while giving nothing (no managing a yearly budget like with blind bidding or your waiver position with rolling waivers).

Thats one thing I'm happy about my team so far sarge. I've been very consistent thru 4 weeks. While 150 is on the high end of scoring, its not out of this world high. 130-150 every week for me. I'll take that and a playoff spot.

Ugh, I'm guessing 0-2 this week for me. A single TD pass from Stafford (on 1 opponents team who I have a 1.02 lead over) to Calvin Johnson (on my other opponents team who have a 14 point lead over) pretty much does it. Add in the yards from the pass and a solid TD and I'm done.
Of course, Michael Bush could get a goal line carry for a TD, so I have *some* home, but its slim especially if Forte plays.

Ok I may be looking at my first 0-4 week for fantasy football this season. As I said above, slim lead and opponent has Stafford and decent led but opponent has Johnson.
In my money league I have a 16 point lead (which is really good for that league. Typically only QB'score more than 15 points) up 78-62. And my opponent has - Matt Stafford
And in my fun office league I have a 13 point lead (115-102) and my opponent has - - - Calvin Johnson.

i'm likely going 1-1 in this league this week - considering the 1-6 start, i'll be more than satisfied with the 7-7 record after this week. my PF are fairly low, which is of concern, but you gotta start somewhere.
i'm still looking to trade Big Ben, or Christian Ponder, if anyone is in need of a solid QB.

I do not like, and will not play again, with a bidding session for F/A. With bids exceeding 1/2 of your seasonal allotment, WTF do you do if you need to replace a 3rd guy?
I may or may not have gotten him with revere order waiver picks, but the tea with 1 loss and leading the league, for damn sure wouldnt have kept another team from competing by getting him.
I'll still set what roster I have, but its be just shy of a bye week. (Not that such hasnt predominantly been the case anyway this year.)

Actually looking things over, it seems 3 of us are having a tough time catching breaks.
We're all up there in points for, but we're also top 3 in points against. And they're even worse off with sub-.500 records. And then there's sarge. I've only got about 35 more points than him on the whole season and only .18 more points scored against me but a 5 win difference.
Ouch.

Now this is some good fantasy football. I've opened a lead on Dwetz, but he's far from done with a player going and 2 yet to play.
Twislson and I are literally neck and neck. He's got 2 going with 2 to yet to play. I've got 1 going with 1 yet to play. As of this posting its the slightest edge imaginable to me: 107.94 to 107.24.
Oh yes and this week I drew the teams in 2nd and 3rd place who are also the 2nd and 3rd highest scoring teams in the league (twilson missed highest scoring coming into this week by less than a point). I'm psyched that I'm right there in the thick of it with these guys. Though I think they may be tired of me. I edged out dwetz by 6 points in week 3 and Twilson had to face one of my best weeks in week 4.
Just realized between last week and this week I've faced the top 3 teams in the league, back to back.

Sitting pretty. First 2-0 week in a LONG time for me. And in grand fashion. 167 points. Missed a good opportunity for my first week leading the league in scoring. Sproles was supposed to be good to go as of about 11:30 so I switched him in for Pierre Thomas. And DHB was supposedly not going to play as of 11:30. Coin toss between tate and gibson. Threw in tate who had 8 less than gibson (and 2 less than DHB who DID play).

Is ok with me Dwetz not being the highest scoring in a week. Would be nice, but just bragging rights. What counts is t his week should vault me up in the standings. Those of us in 4th to 9th place are in a very tight race on record. And to top it off the points for those slots range from 1267 to 1337.
Don't need to be higher than you. Just need to be higher than Donkey, vamp, dpr, fugazi and damoose.
Not going to try and wrap my head around the what-if scenarios. Too many are too close. Just doing what I can to stay out of the consolation bracket again this year.

Consolation to self: Well, if you're going to get scheduled against the top two point gainers for the week, doing it on a week your team sucks anyway is a good way to lessen the blow?

Back to back 2-0 weeks feels good. Still not out of the water yet though because there are so many teams being very competitive.
Smith32 and Twilson and Dwetz are in on records. Dwetz is at 15 wins. I could pass him. Out of Donkey, Vamp and DPR who could possibly tie his record a) none of them will catch him in points. And b) If by some miracle they do, Donkey and Vamp play each other this week. That means out of the 4 potential teams that could go 2-0 to pass or tie dwetz, 1 of them cant 2-0. So he's guaranteed at least 6th as a worse case scenario.
That leaves me, Donkey Hunters, Vampire Weekend, DPR and Goatlocker (who must go 2-0 have me go 0-2 and everybody else do no better than 1-1) fighting for the last 3 spots. I play vampire (ohh, rough schedule for him all contenders in week 13).
Then there are 2 spots left for the highest point total. We've got even more fighting for those last 2 spots. Aside from the 5 contending for the top 6 there are: Fugazi at 1593.9 Syncopats at 1597.74 (second highest scored against) and the top 6 contenders: vampire weekend: 1635.56 Goatlocker: 1602.64 khahan: 1597.14 dpr: 1576.92 donkey: 1543.40
Do I have that all figured out right? Seems like a real cluster we have here.

Really J, almost all you need to do is have a solid # of points. Even if you go 0-2, if you score enough, you should get in on the final 2 spots.
I think you're spot is pretty secure as long as you have a solid week (maybe 130 points). Even if you go 0-2, you'll have enough points for one of the two finals. If you go 1-1 or 2-0 you should get in on W-L.
To be honest, fugazi and syncopats worry me the most. If I go 1-1, i'm pretty sure I'm in on w/l. But if not, a big points week from either of them could knock any one of us competing for top 6 completely out if we fail to reach top 6.
They've both got very good teams to field and are quite capable of a good fight. Bottom line - it all comes down to this: Final week and we have 7 teams competing for 5 spots. Very fun and very competitive league.

Well, turner and sproles did decent for me. When turner put out that early TD I was really hoping he'd keep it going in turn in a 20 pt game. But I won't complain about my backs each turning double digit performances.
My IDP's on the other hand were a big let down. I think my idp corps is one if not the best in the league and to only get 5.5 points combined from 2 of them is going to hurt. If Calais Campbell ends up being able to play this week and turns in a solid performance I'm going to be mighty ticked at this thursday night game and Smiths 2.5 pt performance.

More than disappointed with my evening starters. 8 points from 3 starters in the 4pm game including Eric Decker who I expected a big game from and Brandon Tate who I expcted, well more than 3.84 points from. Dropped to Vamp Weekend and vulnerable to Tree, though its a long climb for him, but not impossible with 3 players (2 offensive) starting still.
And I'm getting pressure from vamp, dpr and donkey hunter, all 3.

Stuff I should maybe know but don't: how does playoff seeding (not playoff qualification, which I am led to understand is a different question) work?
TWilson is down 52 to me but has RG3, Cruz, and JPP left to my D'Angelo Hall. I'm pretty sure he'll win his other game with those three, which puts him 1 game up with our game to play. So I assume it comes down to total points? In which case he needs to make up 49 points to pass me, not 52.
The more interesting question to me is are we going to be seeded ahead of or behind Smith32, who will (probably) have the #1 record but the #3 point total. And who gets the RIFC qualifying spot, the top point total or the top record?
(I started to look at the race for the other playoff spots, but now I have a headache.)

Actually Dwetz, I think the playoffs are done except for the 7th and 8th. I think its smith, you, vamp, me, twilson and dpr.
Tonight's game is needed to figure out the highest 2 point totals because those guys are all close.

I believe that RIFC berths have historically gone to the top two teams by record, along with the playoff champion. If the playoff champ is one of the top two seeds, then #3 would get the third slot. With that said, I don't think that it's ever been codified beyond "Whatever Guru decides." Thus, assuming you beat me this week (pretty darn likely), I will be hoping that we don't have a surprise playoff champ!
This year has been interesting because each of the three of us will lead the league in a major category. Smith32 has the best record, you have most points, and I'll have the best all-play record.

Playoff teams*, their draft slots and their first round selections:
1. Smith32 - 11th Matt Forte 2. DWetz - 13th Rob Gronkowski 3. Twilson - 1st Arian Foster 4. Vampire Weekend - 8th Calvin Johnson 5. Khahan - 14th - Cam Newton 6. DPR - 12th Jimmy Graham 7. Syncopats - 10th Darren McFadden 8. Goatlocker - 9th Chris Johnson
* - order of finish, not necessarily seeding
So picks 1, and 8-14 made it in. 4 RB, 1 QB, 1 WR and 2 TE picks made it in.
Out of all first round picks, 4 QB's were taken, 1 made it in. Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Aaron Rodgers were the top point getters for all 1st round picks but none of them are in (Cam Newton was 4th).
MJD, Darren McFadden, Matt Forte and LeSean McCoy were the 4 lowest point gainers from round 1. 2 of them (McFadden/Forte) made it in.
The only teams to trade this season did so during the draft and both teams made it in (in fact I think w/out that trade I may not have made it, Smith would have been fine either way).
Only 3 of the 8 playoff teams had a QB by the end of round 3.

thanks for doing that Khahan. for me, in a league this large, i think the Banzai draft style is a killer. i won't be picking early any more.
additionally, i screwed up by wrongly guessing i could draft Big Ben, and trade him later. that turned out to be a wasted pick for me.

Playoff teams are the top 6 by W/L record, plus the two remaining teams with the highest point totals (Syncopats and Goatlocker). Here are the seeds for the championship bracket:
1. Smith32 2. Touch Me and Ill sue 3. twilson 4. Vampire Weekend 5. Syncopats 6. Goatlocker 7. Khahan 8. dpr
Teams 5-8 were seeded based on total points.
Championship playoff teams may now submit blind bids as usual. All other teams are locked out from any add/drop/waiver moves for the rest of the season.
In order to adjust blind bidding "arsenals" for the playoffs, I increased the season max from 100 to 116. I then added 2 to the YTD blind bids used for team #2, 4 for team #3, etc. The result is that team #1 has the full $16 available, in addition to any amounts leftover from the regular season. Team #2 has an extra $14 to work with, team #3 has $12, etc.
I set up a custom waiver wire wire order, which I believe will award any blind bid ties to the team with the best seed. Hopefully this will work as expected - but we need to monitor this if it comes into play.
Teams not in the championship bracket have been seeded into the consolation bracket. Since there are only six teams, the first round loser with the highest point total will advance to round two. Pairings will be adjusted if needed to avoid a repeat matchup.
Let me know if anything is unclear, or if it looks like I haven't setup anything properly.

Pretty tight race with Dwetz so far. He's up but I'm feeling confident after the 1st half of the early games. He's up 83-64 but he has 13 players going right now to my 7.
Cam Newton is a beast for me this week. Adrian Peterson is putting up huge numbers for Dwetz (and I'm facing peterson in 2 of my 3 leagues in the R1 of the playoffs.

I hear ya Dwetz. This is a rough week all around. I've got 3 leagues, looks like I may be 2-1. The 2 wins probably the highest score in each league and the loss....2nd highest score.

Wow, great matches this week. 2 of them decided by less than 3 points (and 1 by less than 1 point!).
Looks like next up for me is Twilson.
I tell you this is no easy path to victory. R1 of the playoffs I get Dwetz, the highest scoring team in the regular season. R2, I get Twilson, the second highest scoring team in the regular season. And when I put him down I'm either getting Smith, the 3rd highest or Vamp, the 4th highest from regular season.
Line 'em up. Here I come. I've emailed my buddy Cam and told him to put my team on his shoulders.

Khahan, I see it on my front page in the box labeled "Blind Bid Summary." I'm not sure where else to find it, but you can set up your MFL home page to include that box if nobody has a better answer. Looking forward to our matchup in the semis.
Glad to see that I survived tonight despite a one-pointer from Brandon Spikes (although I could've sworn that Mayo's first credited tackle was actually made by Spikes!). Good effort by the Goons, always a tough team to beat.

I will again be running the playoff game by MFL. The basic rule is that you can use each player (QB, RB, WR, TE, K, DST once over the course of the playoffs.
So. For example, if you use both Brady and Rodgers in their first games you cannot use them again and might be without a QB for the super Bowl. So ya gotta plan.
I will send out my info when our fantasy season is over, but wanted you to know that your fantasy fix can continue!
Watch this space for announcements. Last year I think we had ~ 20 teams (you can have two!)

Interesting night for me. Decent lead over Twilson but he's got an IDP going and I've got Steven Gostkowski.
In my money league going to see who advances I have a semi decent lead over my opponent and he's got...steven gostkowski.
In my other league I lost last week and am just going for a consolation bracket I've got a semi-decent lead and my opponent has....Steven Gostkowski. Basically he needs to score less than 11 but can't be outscored by Brandon spikes by more than 10.

The 2012 MFL NFL Playoff Challenge is up and running.
The basic rule is that you can use each player (QB, RB, WR, TE, K, DST only once over the course of the playoffs.

Invitations to last year's managers were sent out today.
If you do not want to play this year, please let me know and I will delete your team(s). If you have (non RIFC) friends who want to play, have them email me (swimichel@mac.com) and I will send out an invitation.
You can have up to two teams!
Last year's winner was Promizedawgs, with s_R second and Crabby Bills came in third.
