Thoughts on the draft go here.
Rationales do not!

I've got a couple of rounds queued up: I thought I put them in yesterday but I must have not hit the save button. But I'm ready to go for a couple of rounds today. I'll be back late tonight @ 9-10 and will set up several rounds and email Judy with instructions if she needs to draft for me. Good luck to everyone.

Guys,

If you feel comfortable doing it, put a phone # in your contact info, so I can get to you if needed. My home phone is best, since I would not be able to do much from the cell -- too small...

Queue doesn't work for 1.01 unless there's a running draft clock. Since it's turned off, it sits there. It says this in the setup, so Judy overlooked it :)

Just an FYI, unless nerf picks tonight, don't look for me until noonish tomorrow. With the 3rdRR format, I have picks 14 and 15 at the turn then pick 29. I need to see all 4 of these next picks prior to mine before I decide how I'm going to approach my first 3 picks.

He picked in G24 and I sent him an email tonight for AAA.

This had better not be the pace starting tomorrow. Too many people have Q's set to let a few folks slow it down...

And as far as post #14 goes, SOME of us OLD guys around these parts LIKE a clock...It can be difficult to juggle schedules at times (and I have timed out before because of unfortunate circumstances, but it was tough luck for me) and I had to adjust to the draft around me

It looks like we might need a clock. However since nerf is obviously out of contact, I cannot impose it now as that would not be fair to him since he would not know about it.

If we do not get well into round #4 tonight, look for a message about a clock -- probably 5 hours as we need to get going.

Your thoughts...

Mine? I really take pride that our league normally does not need to use a clock, so sadness...

Don't take it as a "slight" against yourself. It's the unfortunate fact that #1. Life happens #2. We learn to prioritize based upon "requirements".

As an ex-teacher, I'm sure you aware of the play on words with: Assume

I'd suggest a 4 hour clock, we got ground to make up.

Re going to a clock: Sic transit gloria mundi.

I have found that 4-hour clocks work better than 6-hour clocks. 5 hours would be right in the middle...a rather vacuous observation, I suppose....

My annual draft rant..

Judy...IMHO...a clock of more than 2 hours is going to slow the draft down.

According to the chart located at bottom of the MFL draft page (go to round 24, pick 14). Only 1 manager has blown off the "faster drafting concept"

All managers have averaged less than 30 minutes per pick except for 3. The one MIA (has taken multiple hours for first three picks) and two that experienced reasonable first day delays that have made their picks at or less than an hour.

Please don't pander to the outlier. A two hour clock fits the focus of 13 managers. Maybe the 14th will either use queues, or check in regularly.

Sorry for the delay on my first three picks. I was still on vacation and the draft was going too fast for my limited access to account for. I only had web access on an Iphone and couldnt even do much research. I basically winged the picks I did make.

Wow I guess I'm kind of bummed.... 4 picks in 4 hours of prime drafting time. I've got queues set up through round 7 but I'd like to see a few more picks before I get any further.
I guess I'll go ahead and say it...If I can set queues for 3 or 4 rounds can't some of you guys set them for a few picks. I get that we all have different lives and levels of commitment but jeez.... I work 10-12 hrs a day 6 days a week so I don't mind using queues but it would surely be fun to see some progress the evenings so I could make a few picks not quite so far out on a limb.

RE 53 My queue was used up with the previous 2 picks 20 minutes into the live draft that costs $100 to enter. I wasn't about to shift my focus on a free, slow draft. Had the picks come in 45 minutes earlier, I wouldn't have used 97 minutes of clock. Sorry for using 26 minutes less than the previous non-queued pick after my queue ran dry.

Regarding this clock stuff. There's absolutely no reason to not have one set. If people aren't timing out, good. If someone does happen to time out...keeps the draft moving. All you're doing is opening the possibility you wait a day or something for 1 pick because you can't just suddenly implement a draft clock.

Tax: No problem. I just found it odd that people would be pissed about my one "long" wait which would have been under the 2 hour clock had we had one. Especially when a queue I had set up since noon ran dry. It originally had 10 players and when I checked it last, I had 3 picks and 2 players. Usually this is late enough in the draft where covering 66% of the picks is good.

If you look at the very bottom of the draft, it tells you how long -- on average -- folks are taking to pick. A 6 hour clock will not change that and that is the recommended clock by GURU.

Trust me, I feel the frustration when I see a few people consistently without Q's, but they are within RIFC time limits now. We shall see how far we get tonight...We also need to remember, it IS only the SECOND day of the official draft... but I still want us to move along a bit more -- shall we say -- efficiently?

Once you set a queue for a round, the next page lets you copy the last round. If you need to, go to your queue, hit submit again, then you can copy it.

A lot of people have missed that. Yes the information's all there on the page and you just have to read it etc., but if lots of people are missing it, it would be desirable to make it abundantly clear: they need a big warning in red 'THIS QUEUE IS FOR THIS ROUND ONLY".

That is a good thing about Draftime. There was something on it that people were missing and KKB put just such a big warning label on the page.

Sorry for the double post, but I just had to marvel at what I think is a massive steal.

Eric Decker went at pick 59 (22nd WR picked), pick 70 (27th), and pick 74 (27th) in the 3 other RIFC drafts. I just got him at 95 and as the 32nd overall WR taken. Personally I had him ranked at the 18th WR and hadn't planned on getting my WR3 in the 7th but this seemed too good to be true.

Saying this, Decker will get hurt in week 2, and not productive after week 10 with games that will include 2 targets, 1 target and 5 drops in a game that has 8 targets. Mark my words.

if you go to rosters --> grid format, you get a good idea of who has picked whom and, by extension, who ahead of you needs what. Much better than the draft grid, which is NOT a grid, but a list...

Just scanning over your draft, I don't get how some of these players are available so late at different points in the draft. I'm drafting in the same spot as IAC and he definitely has way more value available to him when he's picking than I do. The difference looks insane to me.

The talent still available at WR is unbelievable, but I kind of feel this year's WR draft is deep. Outside of WR, I feel like I'm stretching to be taking the players I am, but I have to fill the positions that are out there. I feel like I'm getting some good players, but I think that every year.

Just a heads up:
YWK's last Q is up next (14.03) while his next pick is 15.12. As he is in Asia, there might be a small delay, but he is really reliable getting ready to make Q's from so far away.

Slow's last Q is 14.11 and his next is 15.04. As you saw in 100, he is out in the field for a spell. I may try to call him, but he sounds like he will be really busy. In that case I will pick for him. I should know what he wants because he keeps choosing the players I want. Seriously though, I will look at what he needs and use the MFL ADP list to avoid an controversy.

I am basically here checking in periodically.

We have seven picks to YWK with 3 Q's. YWK ought to be waking up shortly and in the great fashion that he has shown, he will set a bunch of Q's.

So go relax, eat dinner, watch a little news about Isaac on TV.

It will be slack and mjd at the turnaround after that.

I will email everyone when we are back up. Meantimes, let's get to 15.11 so we will be ready to go.

Looking ahead, it seems the next stop is 21.12 at YWK. I think it is a 12 hour time difference there so he might be picking so he will most likely pick when he gets up -- which for us will be tonight. Last night he picked live for the first time! at 8:13 pm. Pretty amazing that both he and Slow used Q's almost entirely and Tax was pretty close to that.

I suspect we might finish tonight. WOW!!

125 AGREE BIG TIME

I hate making a queue knowing that I cannot shut it off while I am thinking. I like to list the guys I am thinking about for future rounds so when it is time, their names are already there, but they won't be automatically selected. Trying to do a paperless draft is difficult in MFL...

I love the on/off/delay feature of draft time!

[128] Basically, I'm talking about earlier today when I went out, I left queues. It didn't get that far and once I got home I wanted to make the picks myself based on previous picks. It would have been nice to just turn off the queue instead of having to delete them.

Certainly one of the common issues with OTC is people neglectimg or forgetting to turn the queue on. Even if the default on MFL is that the queue is always on, but with the ability or option to manually choose to turn it off by choice in an easy fashion.

I would also really like MFL to delete the drafted players from my Q. If I am out for many picks, I come home and have to manually cross reference my Q with the picks made -- two windows open on the computer -- or paper and computer.

It's a pain!

Judy...work has been brutal this week; I traded some shifts and on calls; but the guy I traded with bailed to Alaska and I'm just buried. I have to work Sat. but I get Sun and Mon off and will make every effort to get caught up on my Rationales (although when all your picks are on a queue) oh well I like my team.

Re:133 Couldn't agree more Judy as I make most of my picks from a Queue it's really a pain to set up new ones when the picks aren't deleted. I can't imagine this is a huge deal but it would make MFL drafting much better.
