21.01 KJ Wright, SLB, SEA - I’m not big on getting Strongside backers, but apparently Wrights coverage skills are excellent, thus plays on all three downs. I wouldn’t expect many “big plays” from him, but he could put up respectable/serviceable numbers off the bench.

22.14/23.01 Turn - Jonathan Dwyer, RB, PIT/Nate Kaeding, PK, SD - Pittsburgh/Detroit/Washington... all three of these teams have MASS confusion at RB right now. Somebody is going to come out on top... I’m willing to throw a late round flyer (67th RB) into Jonathan Dwyer who has been getting some positive reviews as of late. From Rotoworld: “We would much rather take a late-round flier on an in-shape Dwyer than draft the plodding Redman at his late seventh-round ADP.” Kaeding... Kicker is a Kicker, is a Kicker... nuff said.

24.14 Mr. Irrelevant, WR, MIN - Jerome Simpson is out the first three games of the year (suspension), but seems to be giving himself a good opportunity to be a more consistent player w/Ponder. There is upside is here, however I’ll drop him with little regret if he doesn’t work-out to my liking.

21.11 Lestar Jean, WR, HOU

"Money talks, but it don't sing and dance, and it don't walk. And long as I can have him on my team, I'd much rather be forever with Lestar Jean."
All jokes aside he's Houston's #2 WR and #3 target. If Andre goes down, he becomes the 2nd target for a team that could throw for 4000 yards.

22.04 Kelvin Sheppard, LB, BUF
Another guy who probably fell some because of news that came out about him, but someone who I was willing to roll dice on. He's coming off the field for 3rd down nickle situations, does that bother me? Not really, 75-80 tackles, some FFs, TFLs, a sack or two, and we've got a good season.

23.11 Ed Dickson, TE, BAL

I need a back up tight end and he's on a team that doesn't have very many reliable receivers and a QB who enjoys checking down. It could be argued he's the 3rd option for Flacco.

24.04 Shayne Graham, K, HOU

What round is it? Oh the last round? Then give me a kicker. Who's the best on the board according to rankings? Oh yeah he's on a good offense that could sputter around the 20 or 30.

21.05 Kellen Winslow, TE, Sea

Wasn't really looking to hold a second Tight End -- but on a lot of cheat sheets he's pretty close to starter Kyle Rudolph and I thought that I could play matchups.

Others Considered Here: Martellus Bennett (22.06)

22.19 Jason Hanson, PK, Det

The old man can still kick from long and he has a bye week that means I can put him in my IDP bye-week rotation of pickups (i.e., I have no IDP bye in week 5).

23.05 Vick Burnett

I had a list of 20 or so RBs worth taking a flyer on and the rookie made his way to the top of it.

Others Considered Here: Montario Hardesty (23.13), Mike Goodson (24.06), Christian Okoye, Wilbert Montgomery, Tucker Frederickson....

24.10 Brian Robison, DE, Min

He plays DE for Minnesota, and should start in Week One.

21.09, Devery Henderson, WR, NO Always a home run threat. With Robert Meachem gone, he should see more deep balls than he did last year. As a 6th reciever, who has the chance to catch a 50yd TD in any game, he'd make a nice bye week fill in.

22.06, Martellus Bennett, TE, NYG Really like this pick. With Jimmy Graham playing every week for me, a backup TE wasn't necessary, but I really like Bennett's upside. Assuming he has his head on straight, he'll have every opportunity to be a strong weapon for Eli and crew. Nicks and Cruz will certainly draw all of the coverage and leave plenty of inside room for Bennett to work. If he doesn't pan out, no big deal since I have Graham, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if I have Bennett playing in my flex spot on some weeks.

23.09, Garrett Hartley, PK, NO Wasn't planning on grabbing a kicker until the last round, but figured I'd go Hartley here. He has two of the traits I look for in a fantasy kicker... plays for a good team (Saints) and kicks inside. He was the only kicker left on the board that can say both.

24.06, Mike Goodson, RB, OAK All signs point to Taiwan Jones being the backup RB in Oakland, but in case he's not, I now have the other potential handcuff to McFadden. Goodson has been good in limited duty for Carolina. Hoping I never have to start him, but I'll hold onto both him and Jones as McFadden insurance until I can't anymore.

21.10 Jon Kasay, K NO
DOH!

22.05 Yeremiah Bell, DB NYJ
Bell was consistently the highest tackler on the Dolphins (which perhaps says little for their LB's), so taking him here, this late, as a backup is a no-brainer. A very nice bye week fill in that can start if necessary.

23.10 John Abraham, DL ATL
The old man still gets it done and should be fine as the bye week fill-in for my DL's.

24.05 Tim Hightower, RB WAS
I was just looking for one more RB to round out the team and Hightower seemed as good as any other. He at least has a chance to start. He'll probably be the first to go when I need to make a change.

21.06 Connor Barwin HOU LB

Time for some more LB, especially since the first two I took (Willis and Mayo) have the same bye week -- ugh, stupid! The HOU def is supposed to be strong this year despite the loss of Mario. Barwin is predicted for 60 tackle equivalents and about 7 - 11 sacks. That works for me!

22.09 Mychal Kendricks PHL LB

HOMER PICK! Actually I have seen sites which say he can garner 100+ tackles this season. There are lots of holes in the Philly “wide nine” for the LB to make plays and he is the man in the middle!!

23.06 Lance Kendricks STL TE

Say WHAT? How did he get on the list? A third TE and a crappy one at that. Soon to be gone...I know Ballard was at the top of my list, but Toral snatched him right before. Oops my friend TD took him as his TE2 at 19.08. I’ll have to ask him why...

Plans are: Off he goes as of Wednesday afternoon!

24.09 Reggie Nelson CIN S

Don’t really know much about this dude, but that he plays for Cincy who could spend a lot of time on defense. I usually do better with DB, but not this year. His ranking is #48 with 70+ equivalent tackles or #32 with the same projected stats? HUH? Might not last long on my team.. Certainly not a starter.

21.08 Daryl Smith, LB, JAC Borderline starter in this league. That’s why he was available in round 21. I need him for the first few weeks, and then we’ll go from there.

22.07 Lamar Woodley, LB, PITT Borderline starter in this league. That’s why he was available in round 22. I need him for the first few weeks, and then we’ll go from there.

23.08 Rueben Randle, WR, NYG The 3rd WR on the Giants can be use-able in this league. Insurance if Nicks goes down. Face it, he’ll probably get cut around bye weeks time if not before.

24.07 Robbie Gould, K, CHI He is very accurate.

Other notes:

I try to come in first or second in this league so as to advance to the RIFC. The winner of the playoffs also advances, but this only a 1 in 8 shot. If you do not come in first or second, you have to be lucky to advance. No matter how good your team is, you need some luck to win 3 playoff games. Thus, I draft accordingly. I barely look at the schedule anymore for the playoff weeks. Easy opponents in the playoffs is worth nothing to me when calculating draft value. Easy opponents in the regular season is more important. That is probably the opposite of most people, but if would not be the first time I help a position that was opposite of most people.

Also, this auction stuff. I always thought the nice thing about this league, was that each week, the worst team got the first waiver pick. This created parity and helped out the worst teams. That is now gone.

21.12 – Barrett Ruud, LB, NOS Just got traded from Seattle, Buud could be a decent fill-in for the injury-ridden Saints linebackers. He was once a star several years ago at Tampa Bay but has been on decline since then. I could have done better here (e.g., Woodley).

22.03 – Kyle Arrington, CB, NEP He actually did a good job last year---though that might be something to do with Pat Chung (whom I drafted also) missing games. Despite Patriots’ secondary is still a question mark, it remains to be seen if Arrington could somewhat improve upon his success last year.
23.12 – Matt Prater K, DEN I thought about taking Hartley here and did leave a queue for him. Prater should improve from last year’s horrific numbers with the arrival of Peyton Manning, whom may be one hit away from suffering another career-ending injury. Anyway, I plan to have to back up Sea Bass or find another FA kicker once the season starts.

24.03 – Scott Chandler, TE, BUF My queue did run out here but thank god that happened at my final pick rather than early or middle rounds of the draft. Chandler had a strong camp and pre-season and he is supposed to be on my bench more often than not as I guess I have no choice but start three receivers week in and week out. But if he could do better than expected I have no problem starting him along with Olsen.

21.02 Morris Claiborne, DB, DAL
Rookie corner rule in full effect here. If you had the opportunity to watch LSU last year, you saw Claiborne dominate the NCAA and that led the 'Boys to trade up and select him. Mo' can play and will play opposite a stud corner, so he is in a situation where he may very well produce (or he will not last very long on my roster).

22.13 Paul Kruger, DL, BAL
Kruger is supposed to fill in for the Ravens [undrafted] injured stud defensive lineman. I cannot imagine that he produces like that top-5 guy, but it’s a dual DL/LB system that has produced big points in the past. Anything near top-20 and I’m ecstatic.

23.02 Matt Bryant, K, ATL
It was either pick a kicker here or in the last round, and I was not really seeing much else, so I decided to select one. I selected one that kicks mostly indoors and plays in a pretty good offense. I seriously considered taking Garrett Hartley (love the guy: he got SO drunk at the Saints Super Bowl parade that he fell off the float), but Jon Kasay had the job last year due to Hartley's injuries and, as I was on the clock, it had yet to be decided whether Kasay or Hartley had won the job.

24.13 Dwight Freeney, DL, IND
Freeney has been moved from DL to a dual DL/LB system, despite being classified as a DL in MFL. Seemed like good value in the last round due to that.

21.14 Steve Smith, WR, StL Just throwing a few darts these last few rounds hoping to strike gold. He had microfracture surgery two years ago and was an infrequently used option for the Eagles last year. Boom or bust pick. Boom-he’s healthy and helps out a lousy Rams receiving corps as a starter and valued producer for Sam Bradford. Bust-he’s not healthy/productive and packs his bags from my team early.

22.01 Rob Bironas, K, TEN Always like to draft a kicker with a late round bye. Hopefully someone with a proven track record like Bironas.

23.14 Trindon Holliday, WR, HOU was watching preseason highlights late one night on Sports Center when I saw Holliday return his third kick for a TD and figured he’d be a nice choice for a late round flyer.

24.01 William Moore, DB, ATL Needed another IDP for depth and bye week coverage. Forget why I picked him. I guess since he’s a projected starter and was next on my list.

21.04 Vincent Brown WR SD Wow a handcuff for a WR. This may be my favorite pick of the draft. Slated to be the "featured " plyer in a potent SD pass attack a pre-season injury sat him down at least til the end of Oct. Having gotten Floyd earlier it is my hope he'll come back as strong as projected and that WR slot on my team will have top 10 written all over it.

22.11 Heath Miller TE PIT Had hoped to fill this spot much earlier but I need someone. He is a bit banged up but IMHO the best of a bad lot remaining. This position will probabley be 1 of my bye week rotators.

23.04 A.J.Hawk LB GB Another Packer for depth here, boy will my team suck on thier bye week. Hawk has shown flashes of greatness but likely not a big stat producer in their system. but who knows as the season progresses.

24.11 Knowshon Moreno RB DEN With Knowshon I wish I knew more heh,heh get it? Knowshon Moreno knew more? he was in my queue that stupid joke is likely all I'll get from him in the off chance anyone reads this ;-)

21.13 Randy Moss, WR, SF
I can't help myself. Keep finding value out there in the WR position. First Heyward-Bey, then Greg Little, now Randy Moss. I had debated picking up Moss rounds ago, but now that most of my starting lineup is rounded out, I could no longer pass him up. Nothing much lost in the 21st round... and could be a lot gained if Moss turns into a big target for the Niners in the red zone.

22.02 Dan Bailey, K, Dal
Grabbed Bailey a round early as he's got one of the bigger legs in the league.

23.13 Montario Hardesty, RB, Cle
Depth at RB is good. Not sure if Hardesty is... probably not if he's available at the end of the 23rd round.

24.02 Ahtyba Rubin, DL, Cle
Just realized I've been getting a lot of Browns. And also realized we actually have to start two DL. Somehow, forgot that change that had happened last year, I believe. Ah well, I guess Rubin gets to start.
