You are each invited (although not required) to post your general reflections on the completed draft. Comments may be as detailed or as general as you wish. As a catalyst, free free to comment on any of the following:

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?

2. What were your favorite picks? Which do you wish you could do over?

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)?

4. What surprised you most about the draft?

5. If you could start over, would you do anything differently?

Or whatever you wish to say about the draft!

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?

My plan was to draft the best available player for the first 4 picks. From that point forward draft the best player based on positional need and how much talent in that position is left. I feel like I did a pretty good job getting AJ Green in the 3rd, Reggie Bush in the 4th, and BenJarvus Green-Ellis in the 5th. Schaub in the 6th was a stretch based on ADP, but based on QBs that were available and how the runs had set up, I felt good taking him there. Webb in the 11th could end up a huge bust if Jacoby Jones takes over all return duties.

2. What were your favorite picks? Which do you wish you could do over?

Favorite pick is Decker in the 7th. I wish I had picked a different draft spot (the 4th pick) instead of the 11th and I would take back Mason Foster in the 17th, and draft Daniel Thomas instead. If I had done a few more minutes of research I would have taken Alfred Morris in the 16th instead of Shane Vereen.

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)?

Both Canadians. Those guys are pretty well stacked and they always have good teams. I guess that's why it shows they are regulars in the Big Boys league.

4. What surprised you most about the draft?

The speed and the depth at WR. How did Decker fall to the 7th? Reggie Wayne was a late 6th rounder. There was some great picks made in the 5-9th rounds who I could have seen going 1 and 2 rounds earlier.

5. If you could start over, would you do anything differently?

Yes. I would take spot #4 instead of #11. I would draft Aaron Rodgers and hope that Sproles fell to 2.11 and then grab a WR in the 3rd and 5th rounds with RBs in the 4th and 6th.

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?

One nice advantage to having the #1 pick, is that I find it's a little easier to develop a plan off of. I've been burned many a year by NOT going RB-RB, so that was an immediate part of it, unless Brady/Brees somehow inexplicably slid. After that, not having the BURDEN, of needing immediate wholes at RB to fill, I could play it "by ear", trying to decide where to jump, and where to hold off so that I could fill in my "sleepers" later. Also, IDP being something that I normally feel good about I felt I could hold off from paying too much a premium on in the first half of the draft. I think this draft went off better than most for me. My "targets" ending up making it to me on most every turn.

2. What were your favorite picks? Which do you wish you could do over?

Favs:
Danny Amendola at 11.01 - Could be sneaky Top 10 WR.
Lawrence Timmons at 12.14 - Tackles, and lots of them.
Do-Overs:
TBD: I don't have any yet, give it a couple weeks.

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)?

That's a really tough call, as I feel you have to "know a manager" in order to decide if he picked the right team for his style. Letter_J, my brother, definitely has a squad that fits his style, and I can see him doing very well this year with it. Other than that, it's hard to call, Kyle/Nerf/slackjawedyokel all seem to have drafted solidly from my perspective.

4. What surprised you most about the draft?

The speed that we ended up hitting once we got past the 4-5th Rounds. Also, after being in RIFC for years, I was expecting a larger "drop-off" in quality of drafting, but I didn't feel that was the case on the whole.

5. If you could start over, would you do anything differently?

Nope. Very happy with my team! :)

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?

Learning that I would pick 5th, it was yery likely that I would pick Calvin Johnson. I then wished, while always considering best value, to plan to pick running backs in 2 of the next 3 and 3 of the next 5 rounds; to grab the first quarterback whom I thought to be of decent value; to start drafting IDPs by the 7th round and pick at least 1 every 2 rounds until In had only one left to pick; to watch the news sources closely from around round 18 on to scope out speculative skill position picks whose value had just increased.

No gross failures to execute.

2. What were your favorite picks? Which do you wish you could do over?

Favourite:

8.10 Kenny Britt
12.10 Kyle Rudolph
19.05 Bernard Scott

Do-Over:

17.05 James Anderson (bye-week screwup)
21.05 Kellen Winslow (since released)

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)?

I found it harder than usual to identify any team as separating itself from the pack this season. However, eyeballing, I like to look of, alphabetically, Building_7, Jaydog and Kyle.

The most interesting roster configuration is Letter_J's combination of Roethlisberger and Flacco at QB. Don't usually see two QBs of such high average skill level and so close to each oter on the same time. Letter_J can now school us minor league peasants by picking the right starter every week....

4. What surprised you most about the draft? If you could start over, would you do anything differently? Or whatever you wish to say about the draft!

Nothing, no, and nothing.

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?
I tend to wait on the defensive side, and I do so knowing full well that I’ll miss out on the highest-rated IDPs. That said, since the RIFC went away from the minimum 1 DL, 1 DB starters, and maximum 4 LB starters last year to the 2-3 DL, 2-3 LB, 2-3 DB, managers roster fewer LBs. As such, there is SO much value at the LB position, and I find it fairly easy to select 3-4 starting LBs from the group left over. Of course, the purpose in foregoing defense is to first build a solid offence. Only once I am satisfied with my “starting” offence (with key backups), only then do I move on to IDP. Glancing at the top 30 defensive scorers by average last year, I count 22 of the 30 to be LBs, and 4 were DL, and 4 were DB. Of course, there will be significant movement in and out of that top 30. As a result, I try to select players that have posted solid numbers consistently in the past. At times, I’ll also look at a particular player’s opportunity to produce given the opportunity.

I also have a tendency to draft RBs early and often. Running back depth is essential to success in RIFC leagues IMHO. Doing multiple mock drafts leading up to our draft led me to conclude that this was not a year to forego my usual tendencies regarding RB. The reason: there seemed to be so much value left over at WR, as opposed to the RBs, which seemed to dry up very quickly.

I agree with my brother IAC’s observation above concerning my team that I definitely have a squad that fits my style. Virtually my entire roster is built upon my drafting philosophy, which is as follows: I try not to have a lot of roster turnover but rather draft the majority of my roster to stay with me, injuries (of course) notwithstanding. (This may very well provide some advantage with this new blind bidding system.) I tend to try to be especially deep at RB, draft #1/2 WRs that seem to have more value than their ADP, and I select tackle machines at LB. Hopefully, I am able to translate that philosophy into a winning team this year (as I lost in the championship game to Bonka in the RIFC by less than a point last year).

2. What were your favourite picks? Which do you wish you could do over?
I liked the value when I selected Sidney Rice and DJ Smith. WR Rice has posted big numbers in the past, and should be the #1 in Seattle, if his health cooperates. Desmond Bishop was top 5 last year, but is out for the year, and his replacement Smith was around the 30th LB taken. Smith could very well be this year’s Navarro Bowman.

As far as any regrets, I should have picked Philip Rivers rather than Miles Austin at 6.13. Austin, however, was screaming value at me and the fact that I forewent WR for so long led me to make that selection. That said, I do feel that Roethlisberger and Flacco can be solid.

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)?
I also agree with this further observation of my brother’s: you have to "know a manager" in order to decide if he picked the right team for his style. I think I know my brother pretty well, his roster suits his style and his roster IMHO is solid. As for the others (whom I don’t know as well obviously), I like Toral, Kyle, and slackjawedyokel.

4. What surprised you most about the draft?
The lack of a clock was surprising and frustrating (whether anybody would have timed out or not)…I’ll leave it at that, and drop it!

If I had not done a bunch of mocks, I would have been very surprised by the value at WR. And I was somewhat surprised that IAC drafted Pierre Paul where he did.

5. If you could start over, would you do anything differently?
I have never drafted in the middle of an RIFC draft, but this year I came to realize how uncomfortable it can be to draft so close to either end...too much goes on in between and I never really felt comfortable. That was the price to pay, however, to get Ray Rice and time will tell if it was worth it.

What was your Plan/strategy entering the draft. Were you able to execute as planned?
Knowing my job would require my use of large queues it's a bit tough to have a "strategy". I hoped to get a solid QB/RB/RB/WR/WR in my 1st 5 picks and build from there.I was able to do that. As I said earlier in my rationales I'm pretty convinced most of the top teams will have either Rodgers, Brady or Brees and I did that. Other than that I just wanted to try and get good value at each pick; so/so on that;but with a queue I always try to put a couple of guys in I'm sure will be there and got stuck a time or two. No BIG screwups but I would have liked a TE sooner and A 2nd DL.

what were your favorite picks? what do you wish you could do over?
Obviously Rodgers with my 1st pick was great,Donald Brown in the 7th was good as well as Trent Cole in the 9th; and I really like Vincent Brown pick up in the 21st to go with my Floyd pick; that has big upside.

Not so good.....Not happy with my TE or DL, perhaps Holmes in the 10th and Palmer in the 12th should have filled those slots: although still think they're decent picks.

Other teams I like
As in most years all the teams look pretty solid. With MJD reporting Building 7 looks good as well as s_r if one of his QB's and WRs play well. His Def looks great tho.

What surprised you most about the draft?
Not too much really;perhaps the speed of the middle rounds. We have a good group of managers and no one had a "bad " draft.

As usual all of the teams look solid but IMHO each has a weak spot or two. It should be a competitive season and much fun as well. Good Luck to all.

Update... After looking at the Consolidated Draft Results it looks like I may have reached on a few of my IDPs... I guess we'll see how that works out.

1. What was your plan/strategy entering the draft? Were you able to execute as you had planned?
With the 10th slot and not much choice in draft position, my strategy was to go best available with the first two picks, and pick up whatever I needed of RB/QB/WR in the next 4 picks. After that it's filling out IDP and everything else. I would say that worked out fairly well. Stafford was the last of the top tier QB's and Cruz was perhaps a reach, but he should be a top 5 WR. The two RB's will be fine barring injury, and I have some nice backups at most positions.

2. What were your favorite picks? Which do you wish you could do over?
Favorite picks are Blackmon, Celek, Bess, and Hester. But really none of them excite that much. I felt I got guys at either right on ADP or reached for them. The only do over I have so far is Kasay. But at 21 not a huge loss.

3. Looking over all of the teams, which ones do you like the most (other than your own)
I don't usually commit to naming other teams I like because I usually don't bother looking at the other teams' rosters. I will say that everyone here are savvy fantasy football managers and it will be tough, as it always is.

4. What surprised you most about the draft?
This was by far the fastest 'slow draft' I've ever been a part of. It was so fast I didn't have all that much time to research picks. I would have been more prepared if it had been a live draft even, because I would have been able to stay focused on the draft for every pick. That being said, I don't think I did too badly.

5. If you could start over, would you do anything differently?
Maybe, maybe if I had more time and didn't have to get on a plane in 15 minutes, I might have considered another player in the second round. I don't think I picked poorly, but by all accounts Cruz was a reach at that draft slot.
